Kespa charged OGN (and MBC, back then) to broadcast PL. The way other leagues (nba, nfl, nhl, etc) charge broadcasters (espn, etc) to broadcast games. Blizzard thought that nobody should be able charge fees and sued...surely you remember that incident? Kespa won that round and Blizzard backed off, but with the deal with Blizzard for SC2, it was a hollow victory. Since there are no gate receipts, hardly any merchandising, and so on, it was one of the few revenue sources that Kespa had. And right now there's no outside sponsor either - tving is a CJ/OGN company, while SK sports is an in-kespa sponsor of PL. | ||
