From what replays etc we've seen, BW pros play SC2 at around the level of mid-tier foreign SC2 pros. Impressive for like a month of hard practice with smatterings of play before, but....ugh. And then no one's playing much BW lately... I'm really hoping this won't be 'Mediocre BW followed by flat-out bad SC2", but it's probably the most likely outcome ![]() Edit: I like that the SC2 version of this thread has an explanation sections of BW, even if it's not yet filled out. A corresponding intro to SC2 here....may be a bad idea. I know Pokebunny was ~B in BW, but does Sayle know SC2? I've only seen Firebathero and Flash replays, and Flash was mediocre. Were there other replays I missed?

I'm not sure if the Korean server is the best ping for him). The 20+ minutegame was hardly a roll.

What was notable about that game was how smooth Flash's 14 CC opening was, and how there was really no time where KR had an advantage. If Flash was that good after just a little time playing, his play must be pretty good by now.

Kinda excited to see how this is gonna turn out to be honest, hopefully mixing the two games doesnt make it so they half practice both and as a result show mediocre games in both games.

For how little time he's put in yet, it's really impressive, but in absolute terms of the games we'll be seeing tonight...I'm concerned. The only reason for an SC2 fan to watch Proleague of GSTL or IPTL is the draw of the Elephant in the Room, and if the BW pros don't deliver on that front, Proleague is in a lot of trouble, having alienated BW fans basically for nothing. I am not impressed by Flash's TvP, based on my extensive experience of seeing a ladder game against Desrow (specifically, he was really passive as Terran, which is a pretty good way to lose as Terran in SC2; they need to do damage in the midgame because bio is the weakest late-game army). I think, if the games aren't good, Terrans going Mech in SC2 might also be a bit of a draw, just because it always seems to kind of work, and SC2 fans might be interested to see if BW pros can work the kinks out. tl;dr: If there isn't at least one SC2 game that's really good or something not seen often in SC2 normally (good mech, carriers, etc), then KeSPA should be sweating. If there is, GOM should be sweating. Edit: Oh wait, this isn't today?

btw, yeah im enjoying sc2, although bw is still the better game. Why am I making the switch then? Because I followed the Kespa players since the very start and I want to follow them. I love watching as much as playing and Sc2 is unfortunately the future. Since watching a game I don't play isnt very fun, I gave it a chance and I like the game so far.

Apparently, the old SC2 alpha Firebats were supposed to tank like Marauders, but obviously wielded flamethrowers instead of concussive shells. Just food for thought.

OOPS, my bad. I think it came out later, so I got confused. Disregard, I suck cocks, etc etc etc. I'm still fairly pessimistic that the BW players will be particularly impressive in SC2 tomorrow. By the end of the season, maybe, but probably not tomorrow. I'd love to be proven wrong again this thread, though. Since watching a game I don't play isnt very fun, I gave it a chance and I like the game so far. It is what it is ("Decent", IMO, with HotS likely to upgrade it to "pretty good"), and I hope the cross-pollination with BW for a lot of younger SC2 fans inspires them to be a bit more demanding of what they want out of the game. Which may or may not be what BW fans want, but still. (PLEASE don't start a vs thread here) On May 19 2012 13:37 eviltomahawk wrote: Show nested quote + On May 19 2012 08:45 SarcasmMonster wrote: Where did you get the picture for SC2? Nitpick: The unit you're thinking of is called the Diamondback, and is useless even in the campaign. The Viper is the HotS version of the defiler
