It IS bo5
Anyway, as I expected: IPXZerg wins
3-1 is the result, the score that ChoJJa was supposed to beat Reach at until he fucked up so badly after having one of the biggest advantages in a game.
IPXZerg is now 5-1 against Reach from this MSL. Still not as good as July's record vs Reach, but he's getting there.
July is 6-2 vs Reach iirc. (3 wins in gillette finals, 1 win in kt-ktf, 2 wins in snickers. 1 loss in dual tournament and 1 loss in gillette finals) So ipx actually has even better rec vs reach. Chojja also had a great rec vs reach until this MSL.
Just watched the vod of the game on Luna. Wtf is wrong with Reach? I never saw a progamer toss lose from having 5 bases vs zerg's 4 for a pretty long time. That was just sad
Also the expression on Reach's face right after he typed the final GG was pretty funny. "Sigh, I just don't really give a fuck." :D
WTF is wrong with REACH ? He has godly micro and a very good macro .... WTF DID HE DO IN THE FINALS ? Those korean Zerg play mostly such a weird shit opening... The 1st game on assault was a pure mess... Even I would have raped reach there.. his off Gate was just a very disappointing move. The 2nd game showed Reach's true potential, playing very solid with fast expansion and walking over the zerg. Then on Luna he had the game from the start and fucked it up so badly... I mean come on this guy is a pro gamer, how can he lose with 5 base vs a 4-5 drones per expo Zerg... He could have won with pure macro... 15 gates archon/goon/templar/archons and stuff... he could have won with arbiter and magic shit.. but he did a super unsolide carrier shit which allowed to zerg to get 3 more bases and reach wasn't able to win in the longrun cuz he had no minerals.. When I saw this I knew he wouldn't win the Tournament. Luna was totally misplayed =( and Requiem... What the fuck is wrong with him.. There are 100 ways to beat such low eco zergs on maps like that... and he pulls out a 3 gate goon shit ? I mean come on he saw how many mutas ipxzerg had, it's impossible to have that many without a expansion... They practise the maps for weeks and still he isn't aware of a Zerg who does a tricky expo ? Why the fuck didn't he do the same shit? I dled the game vs chojja, I watched the games vs Iloveoov... Reach is so awesome and has such a good scouting and feeling for when to do what and then he fucks up against such a mediocre zerg style.. Very disappointing. I don't get it... He plays a super solid expansion style, his micro is outstanding and his macro and apm is great but when it comes to play vs a stupid 10 pool extractor low eco shit build, he totally fucks up ? Come on... bah I had so much faith in Nal_Ra and then he started his super bad slump somewhat 1 1/2 year ago... Reach is the only top Protoss player in the world right now. I cannot believe he played this finale in such a bad way When I watch his micro and his expo strat's I feel like I could still learn a lot from this guy but when it comes down to standart build orders and play I just see 1000 things I would do a lot better... I would probably have lost the game vs Iloveoov and Chojja, but man the final would have been mine.
AAAAAAAAAAAh it's like walking over EVERYONE and then failing against a mediocre one IPX Zerg is good, no doubt but his ZvP is just somewhat "good" compared to other Zergs.. ^^ aight I shut up.. it just ruined about 90minutes of my life to watch this final vods, wanted to comment the waste ^^
I think it's because when they go such hardcore zealot rush as reach went, starting gas after 8-10 zealot it takes too much time to get mobile troops against air. The tech to archons costs more gas too 100-200-150+150 while you get 9 goons + range for the same amount of gas if im not wrong. Also many koreans like the 8 mutas, then switch to lurkers, where the goons get better than much zealot temps. Then you have the tech to robo too where you can get reavers vs the lings. Goons DO suck vs two-gas pure mutas though, but im not sure Reach was aware of that other expand.
Also the sair is very vulnerable to the lurker switch, and he WILL switch if he sees you're massing sairs.
It's pretty ironic that straight up play, which is now know as weak in PvZ because playing predictably in the only "unbalanced" MU in the game puts you at a disadvantage, would have worked better in pretty much every game.
But to defend IPX and his "shitty BOs" as Fisheye says, Reach is pretty known to be cheesy vs Zergs in important matches, and it certainly paid off for IPX in the first game on RaidAssualt so don't be too hard on him.
The luna and req games were a mess though. Luna he had won and then went carrier losing every battle the whole game. And on Req, he saw that he wouldn't be able to attack the main but forced the issue anyway.
I find that Chojja plays weird ZvP, and it's kinda clear in my eyes at least that Reach practiced with Chojja a lot (plus practicing for him in the 2/3 match) and his predictions about his opponent were weird and wrong because of it. Why the hell was he scouting the other mains in the req game? Behind nat was a no brainer yes?
Bah, poor guy just doesn't want to play vs Zergs anymore. I love Reach and pretty much hate every other toss except for foru but if even one of them can somehow play magical PvZ and actually have gasp!!!!! a winning rec vs zerg for a whole season!!! They would become my new fav.
PvZ is just too gay. Playing it well would make you superman.
He won kings of kings tournament with top 4? players from the previous starleagues i think. FA is talking about OSL and MSL which are the oldest and bigggest/most covered starleagues. I think KT-KTF has the biggest prize money though but that tourney is like once every second year or something.
