Oh MAN. Do you feel that? It's the tingy tingle of a surge of nerdchills just over the horizon, like the anticipation of a nerdy dawn. It is time to get down and dirty, in the Kaal ISL Round of 16. Are you hyped yet? ARE YOU HYPED YET? Seriously...

If you missed any of the Round of 32 action, the VODs have already been uploaded. Hop over to the Liquipedia Article to find them (shoutout to Hyde!) or find them in Sayle's post here to find them spoiler-free. Personal recommendations? One of the more impressive feats was seeing notorious 5-pooler Plumbum play an epic long macro game on Icarus versus dsaqwe, in which he sported both excellent unit control as well as pretty good macro. For those Hive-minded ZvZ-lovers you should check out Kolll vs Castro on Tau Cross. Bakuryu vs GoTunk was an impressive series as well, and Sneazel gave A- trutaCz a run for his money. Check out their game on Match Point.
Recap There be spoilers here...
The Round of 32 had it's fair share of upsets and notable drop outs. We say goodbye to Boy Wonder Kolll, who went down to Castro 2-3. Australia's hope GoD couldn't get past Michael, and his fellow TL streamer Shauni had to forfeit his match due to illness. On the bright side, relative unknown Plumbum advances as well as Random player Kashu.
Drama
Before I get to the actual Round of 16, there are some things to clear up concerning the advancing players. I'll best leave this to Game.
About Bibiane vs Terranboy Bibiane vs TerranBoy was decided when Bibiane beat TerranBoy 3-2 in the 5th match. However, Bibiane broke a rule and used the same map twice. Given that it's the first time in this starleague that the rule has been broken, there was some leniency. I told Bibiane if he could hunt down TerranBoy within 24 hours of our conversation, and get him to agree to re-play the 5th match + provide proof, then that could decide the match. Indeed they did re-play, and Bibiane again won, therefore Bibiane will advance.
About Ruarc Ruarc? Everyone wonders why Ruarc was so good. Me too, actually. Yet, in such a short period, he gained major fanship. I'm pretty sure a few people can guess who was playing on that name. He's a Terran, he's named after a Terran function. Yes, that's right, TTF and AstrO got so easily demolished by none other than Scan. It seems Ruarc literally went to pick Scan up an hour away from his house to play his matches, and then brought him back when he was done. We weren't entirely sure, as he changed up some of his hotkey patterns with Zerg until some last minute replays. Those being: The replay pack Scan sold to Shade[AoV], 3 games where AstrO 3-0ed Scan the day before PvZ and told him all the build orders he was going to use, and a few other sneaky ones we got from people who were playing Scan PvZ days before. Only after those, were we able to go from 90% sure given the endless amount of replays and material we went over, to 100.1%.
Therefore, Ruarc is disqualified. TTF and AstrO will be playing a Best of 5 for the Round of 32 spot Wednesday at 20CET, and that match will decide who goes into the Round of 16.
P.S this was the third time Scan was banned from this league. First as a general ban for cheating. Second as a ladder player who played within the last few days. Third, for this. I guess it's best to question why Scan was banned initially, given his cheating past, and cheating in every major tournament and starleague.
Round of 16 by Game

Sziky <> AstrO Given the drama, Sziky vs the winner of TTF/AstrO is spotlighted. It is the best matchup of both players that are facing Sziky, and his weakest, which might prove to be a closer-than-should-be series. () andrey <> Pro7ecT Between andrey/Pro7ecT, hopefully they can give us as exciting of a TvT as last round between andrey and SzajnA.
Michael <> SneazeL I think everyone wants to see Michael and SneazeL go head to head, so there isn't much reason to hype it lol.
Pike <> SouthPark Pike and SouthPark, two of the strongest Polish Zergs duking it out in a favorable matchup for both... I can't wait :D.
Bakuryu <> CastrO The odds are heavy for CastrO to win it despite Bakuryu being such an amazing player. With CastrO eliminating Kolll, whom has eliminated Bakuryu ZvZ in many tournaments, the favor goes to him.
Ace <> PatrrrOn While Ace normally should dominate PatrrrOn, it's his best and only matchup really. A match made in heaven. (Ace hasn't had to play a game yet, this will be our first chance to see what the Sniper Zerg is up to! ed.)
Bibiane <> Plumbum Bibiane is best in TvZ, and we haven't seen Plumbum's ZvT (except 5pooling Terror lol, ed.), but overnight has become a fan favorite and I know for a fact that people want to see more of his shockingly good play.
Jumper <> Kashu Then the last match, King DT versus The Comeback Kid. I have no thoughts on this one, I just know I want to see it. I think Kashu is favored in it, but Jumper has impressed me lately... so yeah I just want to see it.
A noteable point is that from the top 12, 9 of the 12 are still in the Round of 16. Whereas only one was eliminated properly, being trutaCz, by another top 12 ladder player. DeSka got W.Oed out, and Ruarc was disqualified.
Also notable: in the Round of 16 we find 8 , 4 , 2 and 1 (with one more or added through TTF vs Astro). Among the players, we find 3 Hungarians, 3 Americans, 2 Russians, 3 Poles, 1 German, 1 Peruvian, 1 Chilean and 1 Canadian. Though a bit heavy on the Zerg side of things, a fine mixture overall ^^
Need more hype? Scoot over to Hacklebeast's interviews to get to know some of these players a bit better!

haha how interesting the update, now i get to possibly see astro, and for sure see bibiane, good luck to both! I hope to see them PvsT in this tournament. Would be nice.
I want to say thanks for everybody who encourages me nowadays. Especially thanks for Sayle who making these amazing casts, i played in this style all time in the past, but it wasn't in the centre earlier, like now.
I hope we can play enjoyable games with jumper and the better will go to top8
lol. LOL. Me sooooooooo newbie. For some reason i was thinking that Scan = JoeKim. Just today got that they are two diffirent ppl. LOL. So i would like say sorry to JoeKim for that messages about sunglasses. LOL. looks like i am forella. And also i would like to say that Scan is gay.

THIS.
We might have a match fixing scandal right here. Sounds like something Joekim would do.

*I am looking forward to watching Kashu play. He is like a modern day Testie. However, Jumper seemed very likeable in his interview. *PatrrrOn vs. Ace will be epic, but I also think sas.Ace is rather unbeatable. *Sziky vs. AstrO will be epic. I think beastly Astro has a fighting chance in this matchup, but Sziky is rather unbeatable imho. *Michael vs. Sneazel. The #1 ladder rank of ISL2 vs. a beastly Protoss will be epic. * Don't know enough about either players, but Pike vs. SouthPark will be epic. Both players are good ZvZ kekekeke. *The last samurai of LRM), LRM)Bakuryu v CastrO will be epic. Castro's ZvZ vs. Kolll looked rather unbeatable.

Dude, Scan's been caught cheating so many times. Honestly hope you're trolling.
If Scan had been allowed to play in ISL2, he would have had no reason to hide behind a fake id and cheat this time. I'd like to know the reason why Scan was banned from ISL2 in the first place.
I'm not saying it was wrong to not let Scan participate in ISL2, because I don't have all the info, but that's exactly why I want to know the reasons why he wasn't included, since what I can remember it was because he had moved back to Korea, which clearly isn't true if he lives 1 hour away from an american player.

I'm really hoping the same thing, Eywa. ninini, if you're really diehard about why Scan was banned for previous cheating in every major tournament he's participated in, it's well documented and can be easily found. Have fun with your research.
Edit: Okay, I re-read your post... "If Scan had been allowed to play in ISL2, he would have had no reason to hide behind a fake id and cheat this time." Scan cheats no matter if he's allowed to play in something or not, proven fact. Clearly you know this by pointing out that it was "this time".

Well, what did Scan do between ISL1 and ISL2 that justified a ban from your tournaments? It's a really simple question.
Well, what did Scan do between ISL1 and ISL2 that justified a ban from your tournaments? It's a really simple question.
Simple answer as well,as you can read in previous posts he CHEATED.Just scroll your mouse up and see what Game wrote.
The first occasion was before ISL1. The second one, I don't know, and it's very unclear what he actually did. And the third occasion would have never happened if he had been included in the first place. Instead of just calling him a cheater, you can educate me on what he actually did, because clearly there's 2 ppl here other than Game who knows enough about Scan's history as a cheater to decide that he didn't deserve to play in ISL2.
And you think this isn't enough already? Considering he cheated once again, and you really believe he wouldn't have done it otherwise? All that this shows is that he is a cheater and he even takes the burden of 2hours on a car to do the cheating, so I really don't see your point in the first place. Leave the scum out of the esports and move past it, stop being a fanboy.

I'm just asking why Scan was banned from ISL2. Does that make me a fanboy?
If we assume that Scan didn't do anything wrong between ISL1 and ISL2, then anyone who were in his shoes would feel cheated when they realized that they couldn't participate in ISL2. What happened before ISL1 clearly didn't prevent him from participating in that tournament.
What I'm asking is for someone to prove this assumption to be false. Did Scan do something inbetween the tournaments that justified the ban? If that's the case, then I'll accept that, but clearly noone seems to know the answer.

P.S this was the third time Scan was banned from this league. First as a general ban for cheating. Second as a ladder player who played within the last few days. Third, for this. I guess it's best to question why Scan was banned initially, given his cheating past, and cheating in every major tournament and starleague.

Not sure what your first word is supposed to be, but I'm sure it wouldn't have changed my points. This was written to Pholon as a personal message, hence the lack of grammar and general diction you need present when making a public statement. Pholon was pressed for time in writing this article and therefore just copied and pasted it.
"P.S" The third part is actually rage/satire about people like ninini, since his fans constantly question his cheating without logic.
First of all, Scan plays in Korean flag. From what I know, all players with Korean flag, regardless of where you live, are not allowed to play in ISL. Scan has used korean flags alot and everyone knows it, and if he is to play, real Koreans (I don't consider cheaters Korean, like Joekim did for stream watching vs Cute) will complain.
IF 'Koreans' weren't allowed to play, then people like Bibiane, God or Michael wouldn't be allowed to play either, but they play in their respective geological location flags that are Canada, USA and Australia.
Also, once a cheater forever a cheater. Also, i thought ruarc was laddered by joekim no?
I wish to see a clean and mannerly ro16, but no worries because all the players left now are great skilled and respectable players. my money on Astro or Michael, gl boys!

The first offense wasn't enough to prevent him from participating in ISL1, and the third offense happened as a reaction to and after he was banned from ISL2, so can someone please explain exactly what Game meant with the second offense, what Scan did and when it happened? It seems noone really knows, which is strange since so many here are so vocal about why he shouldn't be allowed to play.

If you can recall 3 separate events where Scan cheated and you're still asking the question... People don't change overnight.
ExceeD_DreaM it was about korean IPs, the flag doesn't matter, just because you have a flag from a different country from your country doesn't always mean you are from that country, like in this case.
And was it actually proven that JoeKim watched the stream? I never read anything about that.
Yes, mannered and well played matches is what I am looking for aswell, gogo!

Alright, you keep changing your question, hence you are a troll. But troll, I will feed you. First off, and most importantly: This thread is not about Scan, it's the Round of 16 thread, so please stop it. Second off: He tried to smurf into the ladder 3 days before its end and make an entire identity for himself as "Richard Garey". I won't reveal his smurf name because it's unimportant, but he went 28-4 and tried to qualify low, expecting me not to scrutinize my counter abuse of the lower players. This could have been intel he received from my staff, because in fact, I said that exact thing to all but two people. "We'll only really check hardcore 1-80 or so"
But in reality, I personally was watching the main players and the lower ranks with a hawk eye with the help of two other CAT members.
P.S Not all of the CAT team is listed.
Edit: P.S.S This is the last time I will reply to you in this thread.
Alright, you keep changing your question, hence you are a troll.
I've asked the exact same question every single time, so don't give me that.

Thanks for the straight answer, finally. Was that for a second account in the ISL1 ladder or was it for ISL2? If it was for ISL1, then I agree with disqualifying him for ISL2, although then logically you shouldn't have let him participate in ISL1 either. So was it ISL1 or ISL2?

r u for rela? He just anserwed your question and you still ask him. He tried to smurf into ISL2. He got banned. He wasn't allowed to play ISL2 since he is full of shit cheater. End of story.
On topic I'll say it's unfortunate Pike has to play vs SouthPark but oh well. CastrO vs Bakuryu will be sick. Kashu games impressed me whole lot, I hope this guy will advance deeper.
Just chiming in my support for ninini and his valid unanswered question as to why Scan was allowed to participate in ISL1 and not allowed to participate in ISL2 with no offense done in between the two leagues.

If Scan tried to smurf into ISL2 it puts everything in a whole different context. He was already banned from the league when he smurfed. Many ppl would do the same thing if they felt the ban wasn't justified.
Scan cheated for the first time in that TSL some time ago. Whether he should've been banned for every future tournament is not something we could all agree on, so I will not discuss that. Anyways, Game let Scan participate in ISL1. Scan won ISL1, and then, Game changed his mind about him and didn't allow him into ISL2. After that, Scan was determined to play anyway, so he tried getting in with a fake id. It didn't work and he got caught. Then he tried posing as Ruarc and got caught again.
Clearly Scan doesn't cheat in leagues which he is allowed to play in. I suggest you drop it and admit to being wrong.
Thanks for the info. I didn't know about this event in the Gambit Cup. (If anyone else didn't know about it, read the last page) And for the record, I don't care about being right. I just want the truth.
Anyway, this event occured after Scan was banned from ISL2, and I'm discussing the validity of that specific ban here, not whether Scan is a cheater. You can't justify a ban by saying "I told you so", not if the ban didn't make sense when it was made. Also, JoeKim was just as guilty as Scan on that occasion in the Gambit Cup, and he's part of the staff in this tournament.
Anyway, you guys can make your own assumptions about this.
ninini yes, maybe Game dont allow Scan to play in ISL2, because he won ISL1 so easily. He is 2 levels above us - us = all foreigners. But so many people don't want him to play on our 'foreigner' tournaments, dont you understand? If you want, you can make your own tournament with semi-pro koreans like Scan.

So easily = 1 game away from elimination against both Michael and Sziky? o.o

That said, I hope to see awesome games and trickery this week.
I think that discussion already happened in the first ISL2 thread, can't exactly remember but I think it was something Scan did in a defiler tournament, but can't say for sure.
P.S this was the third time Scan was banned from this league. First as a general ban for cheating. Second as a ladder player who played within the last few days. Third, for this. I guess it's best to question why Scan was banned initially, given his cheating past, and cheating in every major tournament and starleague.
But in reality, I personally was watching the main players and the lower ranks with a hawk eye with the help of two other CAT members.
P.S Not all of the CAT team is listed.
Edit: P.S.S This is the last time I will reply to you in this thread.
This post does not clarify anything. He tried to smurf into the ladder after getting banned which in turn justified his ban in the first place?! What is this, back to the future?

Here's your straight answer: Game doesn't like Scan. I know! So simple, right?
Scan was in Game's team, LRM), but didn't play in any clan wars, so Game kicked him from the team, and on Scan's facebook page, Scan referred to Game as a "faggot", and so, Scan isn't allowed to join any Game-organized tournaments for life. If you look in the ISL1 threads/BGH tour threads, you'll see Game and Scan (under the name Hanbang) arguing back and forth.

Sayle: Regarding your question on the stream as to what the OGN commentator says right before the games start: If I remember correctly, it's "경기~~~ 시작하죠!", which roughly means "Let the gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame begin!"
Edit: Oh, if you want to reproduce the exact exact pronunciation on air, you'll probably have to get a Korean speaker tell it to you face to face until you get it right, but it'd be something like "Kyongeeeeeeeeeeee shijakhajyo!", with the last word said very quickly.
Edit2: And regarding your glasses, in any decent shop that sells lenses, glasses and similar accessories, they can replace those things. (Ya, they're actually replaceable.)
Okay, gonna stop answering everything he says on the stream. Not a two-way conversation anyway.

Hihihihi.
Okay, so I had to go to sleep during the last game, but I did catch Sayle saying that the 8th match would be broadcast live... at 16:00 CET... on which day, Sunday or Monday? If anyone knows the exact time and date, adding it as an event to the calendar might be a good idea. I don't know if everyone is aware of it.
Ah, crap. Just noticed that Game had already edited his post above to say that it's at 16 CET "tomorrow". But what on earth does that mean? The previous broadcast started on Sunday 2 AM Korean time... Will this be on Sunday or Monday (CET)?

Pro7ecT: Always an underrated Korean-Russian. He has been kept out of a few tournaments due to living in Korea part time (visiting his family), but is a citizen of Russia and prodominately lives there. He is a player who has done well in the higher divisions of foreign SC:BW for a long time, albeit a player of lower ranking teams. This is the reason for his lack of exposure. He is a very loyal player to the Russian community and is a high multitask Terran, the ideal Terran in the sense that he can keep up with his mind. He is an entirely standard player who has confidence in his ability to beat players in the late game.
http://www.iccup.com/starcraft/gamingprofile/LyrA.Pro7ecT.html Notice C- Season 4, A- Season 6, clearly a quick learner and developmental player, this should be in his advantage for tournament play by way of burning rust off easily. His smurf (iccup's site randomly stopped working as always) is ooke. 55-3 atm or something.
Bibiane on the other hand is a one dimensional Korean-Canadian who seems entirely loyal to the Korean and Canadian community. His best match up is TvZ, and from what I have seen, is his only match up. He is strong in the first 15 minutes and then slowly crumbles, much like TechnicS in his match vs Kashu. His high rank (only from memory) is B. He laddered to a mid-qualifying rank in the ISL2 ladder stage with an exceedingly high win percentage, if not perfect. (I am replying from a laptop not my pc) He qualified for the Round of 64 out of the group stages by default. Only two of four players from his group showed up, where Pike beat him and then they both qualified. In the Round of 32 he came entirely way too close to default elimination given his breaking of a rule. However, he is versus the Comeback Kid in the Round of 8 - who can play any matchup versus Terran despite his main race being Zerg, which should prove to be quite an exciting match.
The next time you make a new thread for the Kaal's International StarLeague, could you put "KISL Round of 8" or something instead of writing out "Kaal's International StarLeague Round of 16"? Well, it doesn't really matter that much, but somewhat annoys me. Anyways, I'm so excited for this. When are VODs up?

I'd suggest Kaal ISL Round of 8 if an abbreviation were to be made

i think kashu has tell if he is going to random or which race he going to play.if he doesnt it will be unfair to bibiane as he has to practice vs all races.

There will be an interview, where i will say, why i used those races, what i played yet, and what i will use now. Btw Sneazel: vs Whistler both TvZ vs Technics 1st random, 2nd terran, 3-5th protoss vs Jumper 3 zvp

The match I'm most looking forward to is Pike vs Sneazel. Pike has very quietly dominated everyone he played, and is the only person in the ISL undefeated, with no walkovers either. Sneazel though already took out two high level zergs. Should be good.
