The other OSL problem is the random factor of the Ro8 and beyond. Remember Jaedong and Flash meeting in the OSL Ro8 a year and a half ago and the MSL final? That's because the MSL reseeds based on rank in the Ro8. OSL is as thus: all players who advanced from the Ro16 were either #1 or #2 in their group. Ro8 is random #1 vs #2, as long as they weren't in the same Ro16 group. So in that previous example, Flash was a #2 (lost to Stork) and JD was a #1. But also consider that even if Flash and JD are both #1, they can meet in the Ro4 if they are randomly on the same side of the bracket.

This "new" OSL style is of course basically the old one and this is why iloveoov and Savior failed in the prelims multiple times when they were simultaneously winning multiple MSLs. There is a far greater chance of inferior players advancing out of the giant OSL prelim groups because there are so many games played that you don't have time to properly prepare. There is a reason the MSL is nicknamed "Where Bonjwa Happens".

The MSL is better. It gets less prestige because it is newer and everyone remembers the Coca-Cola OSL. Boxer was an OSL man first and foremost even later in his career so that also helped.
