Relationships are the first thing that coaches suspect when a player begins slumping. In fact, most coaches say if a player is slumping then eight out of ten times the player is dating someone. So, when a certain progamer began slumping, the coaching staff asked him if he had gotten a girlfriend. The player answered no -- but the coaching staff didn't believe him. They asked other players to pay close attention to the player. His teammates, however, were unable to find anything indicting the player of this act. The coaching staff, after this, went nuts trying to figure out why the player was slumping. Of course, the answer was that the player involved in a secret romance. He was just that good at keeping it hidden.

good play by Princess. Stork was a little too aggressive with his armies in the early-mid game, especially that first attack where he got pincered inside Princess' third and lost everything

Where do people get all this hyperbole from?
Do you watch the games? Stork tried to assault Princess so he could expand for a 3rd, and just barely got held off. Like, it was extremely close. There was one bad action, namely losing his two templar for nothing, but the game was essentially over as soon as he lost his first big army without being able to establish a secure 3rd, and he was probably at a disadvantage before that.

Why? I can be excited to see how he performs today entirely for different reasons depending on his performance in the group of death. It's up to you to decide why I would be excited.
Jaedong with the ling arch Great about to break through Sunken is up for the Tyrant Lings getting a surround on it, no drones are pulled off to defend First muta out for Tyrant Evo chamber for Great Tons of lings dying, only one or two drones lost in that Tyrants first Muta gets warded away by a spore
JD loses a muta to scourge, tries to pick off drones with lings at great's nat great's first muta out JD gets lings into great's main but I don't think it matters
Lots of scourge from Great, one muta pops, Jaedong's lings are at the nat, but Great has a muta out now Jaedong runs by into the main, but Great pulls drones Three muta's for Great Jaedong hasn't very many drones

having 1 ling there would result in what exactly? besides, if mirror opening (or even 12 pool from oppo zerg) a 6v5 zergling results in that the 5 zerglings have to back up, and thus lose any and all advantage the most 1 zergling could do is slow great's mining for like... 10 seconds real useful

You can't scout in ZvZ, a drone scout leaves u behind. All you do is send ur overlord and hope for the best. It was a cinflip and jaedong lost it. He went 9 pool so it would be silly to split the lings up since u gotta do damage no matter wat. That 1 ling makes a huge difference with such low econs that early into the game so even if he scouted correctly with the 5 lings his rush wouldn't have the same power. If he scouted wrong with that 1 zergling then it really wouldn't matter cause theres nothing u can do, u have to wait for the other 5 zerglings to come back anyway. A lot of it comes down to luck, and its a little silly to bank on a 9 pool on a big 4 player map but saying "his scouting was bad" is completely ridiculous. Do u even play the game? Have you ever played a ZvZ?
On April 24 2011 14:55 Trizz wrote: That's zvz, coinflip MU.
Jaedong won the coin flip
Well the BO-win turned into a BO-loss within a matter of seconds, stupid scouting. But 9pool with lair before ling-speed is probably my least favourite zvz-build.
I don't understand how anyone can say Jaedong played badly. His ling micro (especially at the ramp) and drone micro was excellent. He just got really unlucky with the scouting. Generally, players send their overlord in the direction where it reaches their opponent's expo first. Jaedong did the opposite with his overlord so that he can check the bottom left with his ovie and if great's ovie reaches JD's base, then he would know great is in top right, but since that didn't happen, he assumed that it's in the top left. Jaedong did pretty much everything right that game, just not the best choice of build and some unlucky scouting.
On April 24 2011 15:00 iamho wrote: why did jaedong send his lings cross positions first anyways? that just seems like a terrible idea
JD probably had brain farts or something. Worse decision making than his game vs Hogil
Read my previous post. People need to stop making ridiculous statements without actually understanding why a player made those decisions. Just because it didn't work out this time doesn't mean it was a bad decision.
On April 24 2011 15:00 iamho wrote: why did jaedong send his lings cross positions first anyways? that just seems like a terrible idea
Normally, a zerg sends their first overlord to closest nat. Since JD didn't see an ovie come enter his nat, he figured that Great would be at top left. (He sent first ovie to bott left so he'd "know" where zerg is but got thrown off by Great's scouting pattern.

Jaedong's control and defensive skills are good enough that he could probably safely 12 hatch/12 pool expo almost all the time on a 4 P map. Still confused why he decided to go 9pool.

The danger with mirrors is that the starting BO can decide a game long before mechanics/game-sense becomes crucial. So yeah, you can be the best Terran, Protoss or Zerg of the time but a bad BO choice in your race's mirror matchup can still kill you (if the opponent is even half-decent)

What? I'm a Flash fan but how can you be so sure that Flash will win? JD loses a ZvZ with bad scouting and now you're sure that Flash will be the champion? What kind of an OZ fan are you?
Anytime, must be dissapointed at the decision "Let me out against this Khan scrub, Sashin rush him, no hydra crap for me" "Shy your up" -.- If only my dreams would be reality Reach vs Midas final, or a Yellow vs Bisu

I think its an awesome idea don't know why its never been done before!~

It was easy and painless for me so I don't mind doing it.
Didn't realize there was a bookmark included in the OP till after the games. Thanks for this and I hope this feature is continued. It will definitely come in handy if I check a thread for a match I didn't follow actively.
He was just that good at keeping it hidden.
yes it is stork imo.
Stork's gf (now ex-gf) wasn't a secret. And he didn't start slumping until during/after their breakup.
You know it was probably during that time when Stork was doing super well heading for dual finals, and his girlfriend goes why arent you spending more time with me? And boom

I was wondering what you were doing, that's a good idea actually, should be done for every LR

that was me! And fuck... I'm really sorry guys, apparently I jinxed Jaedong AND Stork tonight, cuz they both fucking lost!!! I was praying for it to go to an Ace match, since I'm not a huge Samsung or Hwaseung fan, but I love dinotoss and the dong...
and speaking of which, I'm thinking of switching my fanboyism to Hwaseung, since practically ALL their fans were girls (samsung was 75% guys). Seriously, the first 3 rows were all hwaseung fans, and there was only 1 guy. All the Samsung fans were in back so I was sandwiched in between.
I was getting weird looks for having one of each team's balloons, and cheering for EVERY player, but neither team. Must have been driving the hardcore fans mad lol.
It was really awesome to have gone to this. Surely there could have been more exciting ones to go to, but I come here on business and don't always have the opportunity. I've been watching and following this scene for almost 3 years now, and been to Korea about a dozen times, it's about fucking time I went and experienced this live!
The camera crew does an amazing job at broadcasting.. what I mean is, the place looks so epic and big when you're watching it on tv, but it feels a lot different sitting inside.
Oh wow, live report tab was invented? Genius! Though you may want to add Game 8 tab also with text 'not played' embedded on it so there aren't any indirect spoilers.

Fantastic =] Good for you man. I hope to be able to experience even a simple proleague match live too some day.
@Shader Thanks bro! BTW you're in Australlia- not too far from here (compared to US), so you have a good chance, if you can save up the money for a flight! There's plenty of cheap hotels, but you might need some help to find them unless you know Korean. Feel free to ask!

How long you in Korea man, do you want to hit up some games its so much better having someone to talk to and no one I know likes Starcraft. I was gonna go to SKT vs KT tomorrow but I have to go to hospital Monday and Tuesday now (transferring hospitals and sorting out a MIR scan) .
There's nothing posted past Tuesday on the calendar and I'm lazy enough for that to be my only source of knowledge on when and where Pro-league games are.
Oz is the right team to support man, you know it. All the players are so loveable and your right a large proportion of the fan base are female. Though most of them not legal sadly (lets not get into the fact that in Korea not legal is legal).
I missed most of today's games because I set my alarm for AM instead of PM. Idiot.

Edit: was directing my question to the wrong guy
Yo man, seems the PL matches are only posted in the TL calender one after the other these days. I'm working all weekdays from 9-6 give or take, so attending matches on the weekdays seems futile, but Saturday is a definite possibility to see another match, whether it be PL or MSL. Although I'm in Kangnam, the subway(green line) is really easy to take to Mullae Station to MBC Hero Studio.. not sure a bout OGN studio, as I haven't made that adventure yet.

Oh cheers e_i_pi_1_0 thats really useful. I knew there would be a way of finding out somewhere if I bothered to look hard enough. I missed most of these games so I'm looking forward to getting to watch the vods and see how Princess could possibly have beaten Stork. Thats the biggest feather in his cap.

STX Soul VS KT is tempting on Wednesday.
You're so lucky you can watch the PL matches live. I'm stuck watching them on stream in the middle of the night, and hoping I can get enough sleep for the next day at the same time.
I'm waiting for Oz vs MBC and Oz vs KT. Those should be good.
Disappointing game as an Oz fan, only highlight being Princess maybe being a new hope instead of Killer. I'd rather Perfectman just not play at all than come out just to cheese every time.
Well I just watched great vs. jaedong and I don't understand something:
What is the advantage of going one base mutalisk against a fast expanding zerg when it can be countered so easily with spores? jaedong even had to put up a sunken because he was out-larvaed.

I'm a newb, but I am curious.
gg though!
XD
Jaedong's build was meant to end the game with lings, or at least deal enough eco damage with his fast lings that his 1 base play wouldn't be an issue. 1 base play in ZvZ usually only works if the opponent also goes for 1 base or you deal some significant damage with the early lings.
Personally 9pool lair first is, in my opinion, the stupidest build in JD's arsenal. His ling micro is so great he should've just tried to end it with lings, and not tried to Lair.
