Hoping for a hydra 3 kill followed by a Stork RAK. That way hopefully the GSL up and down matches will be over by then and I'll be able to watch everything.

lol no! I want ZerO to win. He's the creative Zerg player that's absolutely essential to the swarm. He needs to advance! Zerg are not having good times now. Jaedong needs some serious support.
Jangbi completely dominating the skies with corsairs. Killing all scourge and at least a half dozen overlords. Hydra trying to counterattack with lings and hydras but Jangbi has a reaver out to defend

Jangbi played really well I thought. He could have made a lot better use of those reavers at the end. I think he panicked and ended up with a blunder of a reaction. Other than that key point though, I thought he was in good form.
basically.. Hydra attacks at a timing when Jangbi has no real army and before Storm is finished or before HT have enough mana to storm, and Jangbi fucked up the Shuttle/Reaver control that could've cleaned up the Hydras in the main Lucky Hydra I guess lol

Debatable. It's hard to see how good his form really was when the game ended w/o him doing much other than harassing and not building an army in favor for a faster expo. He got a bit unlucky I guess timing wise, but his defense there was pretty poor.
Brave up next. Never thought I'd see the day a mediocre protoss player being sent out to snipe a zerg. Shows how much the recent PvZ metagame has changed.

Protoss have no excuse to lose to a simple Hydra timing attack lol .
which not only counters the standard BO, but also pretty much the only option Protoss has against Zerg. Why not go 3 hatch hydra break all the time? This is pretty much what I don't understand...

Well think of it this way.. if it gets scouted, usually Zerg ends up really far behind. And if Brave didn't get those first 3 Zealots damaged/killed like that, he possibly could've stalled long enough to survive.

Stork is on fire. Though I agree that this will be hard to pull, Hite certainly has Toss snipers prepared.
WTF, those storms did massive amounts of damage, all of Hydra's lurkers got killed. Either stork hit them with dragoons too and I just missed it or he did two on the same location...

Horang2 continues to be over 70% PvP and with good reason. That goon-control was absolutely perfect. Beautifull snipe on shutte/reaver and just kept run-and-gunning to perfection afterwards.
If only they had sent Stork first... Turn + Great + Brave would have had a good chance against Horang2/Skyhigh/Leta/Hogil. But January thought "Hite sent their best player, lets suicide all our players on him, just to make it easier for them to snipe Stork"
On January 24 2011 19:42 kuroshiroi wrote: Stork forgot to micro his shuttle/reaver or something, he was close to holding it, I think?
No. He didn't forget to micro it, the problem is that H2 hit great timing, entering Stork's main with 5+ goons right when reaver popped, effectively countering it as shuttle snipe is easy when you don't have anything blocking your way to it.
On January 24 2011 19:43 writer22816 wrote: Fuck, I had no idea 4 gate was this nasty. What did Stork do wrong this game? He wasn't even going greedy, just standard 2 gate reaver.
4gate is an extremely strong build. It autoloses to Dark Templars (0% win chance), but is quite good vs. everything else.
On January 24 2011 19:43 writer22816 wrote: Fuck, I had no idea 4 gate was this nasty. What did Stork do wrong this game? He wasn't even going greedy, just standard 2 gate reaver.
4 Gate is designed to counter just that though. They "waste" money on Robo, Obs, Shuttle and you exploit that.

4 gate goon is extremely powerful, the only good counter is fast dt.

On January 24 2011 19:42 dukethegold wrote: Why Stork why
He mismicroed his shuttle.
Well, that kind of micro battle is basically a rock-paper-scissors game of predicting the opponent's targeting - Reaver or Shuttle.
Stork got it wrong and picked up the Reaver when he should have left it alone. Then when he went to drop it, that was the delay needed for Horang to snipe the Shuttle.
He probably should have backed both off after the first Scarab launched, as it was obvious his Reaver didn't have any more ready. Keeping his Shuttle + Reaver in the combat area was taking away from his Goon micro, which he really should've been focusing on.
Finally, a win again... I was a little worried about CJ in the winners league and still am, but there is a chance that they will do well again. Winners league just isn´t to good for well balanced teams without a real "star-player" and as long as Leta can´t recover, there isn´t a real solid player except for Hydra...
On January 24 2011 19:43 writer22816 wrote: Fuck, I had no idea 4 gate was this nasty. What did Stork do wrong this game? He wasn't even going greedy, just standard 2 gate reaver.
Yeah, I had no idea as well. That was a never-ending stream of dragoons. Even perfect shuttle micro would have been unable to defend against that.
Stork isn't to blame for this loss however. It was Hydra's awesome skill that won it for Hite. Grats for getting your first SWL win, Entusmen.
I think going reaver first meant Stork had a bit of a decent chance, the builds 4 gate absolutely crushes are standard 1gate obs or 2 gate obs (or non-DT FE I guess, do people do that?).
But yeah, shuttle went down, and if that happens he can't abuse its range very well. Horang2 did good.

Yeah I agree with you. IMO you can't really micro slow shuttles vs a large amount of dragoons while having next to none yourself. There really is no way you can stop the shuttle snipe (besides not using the shuttle).

fair enough. Well done by Horang2 anyhow, excellent control and deserved victory
I don't think Stork lost that due to reaver+shuttle control. He was in a bad spot due to BO's, but what I think he should've done was pull probes a lot earlier and move back with his goons. He lost pretty much all his army before the reaver was out, which meant that it was always gonna be easy to pick of since there was virtually nothing there to protect it.

I agree. That's where stork screwed up. Once you see you're outnumbered by 2 goons that early, you back up to your main and pull probes, you don't pull probes after losing most of your goons.
Horang played a good game. Good strat, nice execution and he deserved the win, good for him.
Stork should not feel to bad about this though. He did not get outplayed due to skill, but got into a hard situation due to BO. Shit like this happen in BW and I think its good for Stork to remember that :-)
I still wonder how the series would have gone if Stork would have been sent out before Great. Sending him first would be the better choice in my opinion...

Clearly, Khan and Stork fans are simply too cool to give in to provocation by haters.
Yup! And mainly because I can understand his loss because he does have a MSL quarterfinals and a OSL finals to practice for. So dropping a game in SWL is ok.
Out of the 470 or so replies in the last game's winner's interview in fomos, 90% doesn't mention Horang but instead is a fight between Stork and Bisu fans.
Totally agree with you Z3kk. Stork's pvp isn't the best to start with, plus he said last week that he wasn't practicing much on PL because of the starleagues. And finally, he has 2 bo5 vZ in 2 weeks plus a grand final vT.
So let's face it, Stork was in the worst situation possible for a PvP. I still think he could have come ahead in a straight macro game, but Horang2 did play it smart, and took a well deserved win.
Regardless, Stork did take down Hydra who's the hottest player in Hite (and personnally i feel more confident for the match vs Zero), and if Khan do win vs Wemade they'll still in a great position in WL and PL in general.
I just hope it'll stay a minor setback, Stork's teamate have to step up vs Wemade and help their Ace. They definately have the skill for it. And Stork wll have a clearer schedule for the matchs vs KT and SKT. If Khan take down Wemade and either of the big-guns (i think SKT1 will be easier), then the team will definately be a contender.
Stork's goon targetting seemed pretty poor there and just his overall defence from it. See Bisu Vs Jangbi in the GOM finals for a well known perfect defence of it. 4gate isn't as overpowering as it looked there, it's very very timing specific and requires good control, keep in mind defenders advantage and distances. Horang2 barely wasted a shot, targetted each goon in succession, did everything right.

I was watching Stork's actions carefully, and a lot of it looked good. He was specifically targetting weak goons and all that, especially when he was getting desperate with his probes.
However, right when the battle began, it seemed like Stork got caught off guard. Not only did Horang2 have two extra goons, but he got a few free shots in there too. Stork's zealots ran around being rather useless at first, and a goon or two of Stork's just instantly melted, almost as if they were already damaged, though I didn't think they were. It was a heartbreaking moment =(
