Don't let Hwaseung vs. STX fool you, this match is going to be even, if not in the favor of STX. STX rightfully experimented with less stable players against an appearingly weaker team, and in that gamble shamefully lost due to none of their aces feeling strong enough to defeat the Great Lee Jaedong. WeMade would certainly welcome such a turn of events, as it needs to make up for the defeats at the hands of the top contenders like KT and Stars. Player for player, I'd say odds are even. Baby, Midas and Mind are probably WeMade's greatest strength right now, as they form the backbone of WeMade. STX's Terran line (by Terran line I mean Bogus and Classic) are playing well, but it can be rightfully doubted whether they are good enough yet to take a game off Mind or Midas. If Baby chooses not to slump, STX might be in trouble. Unfortunately for WeMade, chances for that are not looking good after his games this season. Shuttle is easily capable of beating down Pure, and Kal should be a free win against most players. As for the Zerg lineup, Hero should be able to defeat WeMade's Zergs and Calm remains a huge questionmark. Modesty probably requires therapy after his recent escapade. If STX didn't have the tendency to choke under pressure, I'd say chances are better for STX to win in ACE, but if at all possible, I'd avoid such a scenario. Set 1: Shuttle < Central Plains > RorO Set 2: Trap < Aztec > Mind Set 3: Classic < Fortress > Midas Set 4: by.hero< Icarus > Shine Set 5: Bogus < Benzene > Baby Set 6: Kal < Grand Line SE > LuCifer Set 7: Kal < Empire of the Sun > Baby STX wins 4-3. Please don't choke.
Set 1: Shuttle < Central Plains > Pure Set 2: FrOzen < Aztec > LuCifer Set 3: Calm < Fortress > RorO Set 4: hero < Icarus > Shine Set 5: Kal < Benzene > Midas Set 6: Bogus < Grand Line SE > BaBy
Calm, Shuttle, Kal, Hero with Bogus close behind. That's enough to put fear in the heart of any team. The only way STX is going to lose is if they lose focus. Should be an easy win for them
Then again, I don't really care since all I want is both of these teams to lose ultimately in the end for the ULTIMATE GRAND FINALS of SKT vs Khan next summer...
I am scared for roro. His performance increases exponentially in relation to the number of people who have him on their anti-team in FPL. Unfortunately, there is no FPL yet.

commentators suggested that Baby purposely donated the vessels in order to get rid of scourges so that dropships could get in more safely. If true, that's just ultimate strategic play by Baby.
Wow, i was thinking terran sucks with losing 2 vessels for nothing and not killing the 2 expansions at the corners. but the dropship play made me go 'WOW, he plays like baby' and then turns out he is... the end

Perhaps you missed the first part of the game, but he was way ahead long before that.

ahhh, thanks for the point out : ) Baby rocks as usual

nah, he did this once before, I forget against who, but i distinctly remember one game he just did this really tight turtle build that ended in guardians. just shit on the toss he was playing against, i think it was one of the mbc tosses

Kal's weakness: putting himself into make-or-break situations where's he way behind and has to pull off miraculous drops/attacks to survive. He loses his third to mass lings while trying to break Shine's third with reavers/zealots/archons. Should've kept defenses at his third. Loses everything.

if it was jaehoon that explains everything
it was tyson, weirdest game i've ever saw, it looked like zero was playing in shine's place
Its kind of their reputation of depth. I still like STX but I have always been a fox fan and am happy they won today. Its a shame STX couldn't put up a better fight, but whatever. I guess every team has their slumps.

their lineup at least has the potential to be good

it was pretty dominating on Baby's side, all the way throughout. Saccing the vessels at the end to get the dropships in was pretty sick too
???
it's hard for a zerg player to recommend proxy fact into dropship rush
honestly game 4 was so fucking weird to me. both player played completely disregarding what their opponent was doing. kal goes super harass/offensive despite shine playing totally defensively (if kal had put all his time into matching expos to shine I think he would of come out way ahead). shine then proceeds to spend a SHITLOAD of money on scourge instead of just making hydras, barely kills any sairs, and then STILL goes greater spire vs like 8 sairs from kal.
although really if kal had had slightly better shuttle/reaver micro when he 1st tried to break the 3rd he probably would of ended it right there.
This... is not unexpected. When I saw Shine versus Kal in the lineup I knew it would be a 4-0 for FOX. The other three games could've gone either way I guess. Painful loss for STX, getting sweeped hits hard no matter how it happened. FOX show their depth as the zerg duo and the seventh dragon own it up. They've become a powerful team over the last couple of seasons.
I blame it on the fact that I couldn't watch. I guess it's cool that there are early games, since that's what I used to watch easily, but now there's no way I'm picking up a 13:00 game during the week (who can go to games at that time? doesn't everyone have school or work?).

Was Calm close friends with Hwasin? Ever since Hwasin left he hasn't played well.
Hwasin has often been called the heart of STX in this forum. I'd love additional information as well, but I doubt he'll ever be mentioned again. I've not given up hope for him performing again, though. If Bisu could, he can as well.
FFFUU STX. Why do you have to be so inconsistent? Might have to switch woongjin from my #2 team to my #1 team. Its still only R1 though... maybe STX will peak at season's end instead of season's beginning like last year.
Everybody talking about Hwasin's departure, but I can't help wonder if July leaving also affected team spirit - after all, he was one of the most successful players ever - the god of war must be an inspiring presence even without playing.

true, but a lot of us are really looking at the lineups. without hwasin, stx doesn't really have an A-class terran anymore =\ FrOzen and ClassicCAN be good at times, but they just don't compare to the consistency of the red sniper! if it weren't for the betting scandal he'd probably still be in the Ro16 right now

By your logic, WeMade should be scrubbing epically now that Nada's gone.

Ro16 before the MSL even starts!
i miss hwasin, most fun TvZ to watch ever :\
I think he still has the record for most consecutive MSL Ro16 appearances ever too.

I'd say Bogus is a better player than both FrOzen and Classic (although I guess that dosn't mean too much ) ,Last season, Bogus Really showed signs of grand improvement in his play, so i think the terran lineup is OK. The Team however, seems to be in a very nasty slump that started R5 of Last season. Who knows why its happening.

Bogus just lost to By.Sun in the very first round of the MSL preliminaries. Just thought you'd like to know.
Classic doesn't seem to be competing in this MSL but in the last MSL he 2-0ed Anyppi and Pusan in the preliminaries before Flash chose him as his first opponent in the main tournament. He 2-0ed SonGDuri and s2 in the OSL preliminaries but lost to Light later. Losing to Light was seemingly the start of some confidence problems as he entered a slump after that.

I did that last season when Calm and Kal both started to slump

Classic is competing in MSL. He just doesn't have to go through the offlines because he qualified for the Rd of 32 in the previous tournament.
