This is basically exactly the opposite of the "Age of the Protoss", so you would expect a team that lays all its weight onto the shoulders of Protoss players would begin to falter. And that is exactly what is happening. Samsung KHAN is in a bad period right now, but it is always darkest before the dawn. And the dawn is coming.  Flash lost 2 matches last night and some may say that it was a fluke. And you know what? I agree. But a fluke is what Flash used to be known for stopping.  Jaedong was always a strong strong player. But people never referred to him as bonjwa because he always lost matches he shouldn't have. And it looks like that is what is beginning to happen to Flash. What I mean by all of this is, I see a wave of change on the horizon. Protoss will rise back to its former glory, and  Stork will be the one leading the revival. Expect Stork to bird shit up, and expect some strong play from JangBi as well. great is also in good form, in my opinion.

And by deep, they have 3 players who are pretty damn scary. And those 3 players are Kal, Calm, and Shuttle. While I wouldn't consider these players as S-Class, especially Kal after his upset at the hands of EffOrt, they are definitely the ones who are looking to challenge the players in the S-Class. They are strong, deep team. Which makes them even more powerful in the SPL's current match format. Their only obvious weakness is that they don't have a strong Terran to play. Hwasin I suppose... but I think he is a little busy with some... other... suspicious things. Overall, STX SouL is, in my opinion, the team to beat besides KT Rolster and maybe Woongjin Stars. And they would outshine KT Rolster by far if KT Rolster wasn't ahead by miles from the previous rounds. Samsung KHAN has their hands full tonight. It'll also be interesting to see if Kal can really hold the title as top Protoss with Stork looking him face to face.
great < Grand Line > ShuttleThere is a distinct lack of Terran in these 2 teams rosters. Which means, statistically speaking, Zerg will be running rampant. Thus I have decided this map will definitely be a ZvP. I just can't decide if it will be great vs. Shuttle, Calm vs. JangBi... too many Protoss! Or we could see a ZvZ in the form of great vs. Calm. But I don't think that STX SouL wants to risk their Zerg in a ZvZ, and I don't think that either teams want to risk their strongest Protoss here. Juni < Judgment Day > CalmI don't expect Samsung KHAN to risk one of their two Protoss stars here either. This map is just too Zergy in the presence of no Terran. So I expect them to try and snipe the imminent appearance of Calm on this map. I just can't decide between the two Zergs. I guess Juni if I HAD to choose (which I do in these predictions, I guess lol) but it could very well be Chavi. Neither of them have particularly strong ZvZ... but I believe they have a better chance than JangBi would against Calm. Stork < Match Point > KalThe two titans of Protoss will clash, and it will be a glorious battle. My money is on Stork. Sorry Kal, I know your PvP is beast... but we are talking about the Dinotoss here. Maybe next time. JangBi < Fighting Spirit > heroHere is where JangBi will make his appearance. hero or Bogus will come out on the opposite end of the spectrum, but I expect JangBi to steamroll over either one. Even though both Bogus and hero have decent vP's, in my opinion. Stork < Polaris Rhapsody > KalOr maybe not. A lot of PvP's on this map, and it is a perfect battleground for some revenge. Dinotoss politely declines said revenge in the form of some epic storms, reaver micro, whatever needs to happen to get the job done. Samsung KHAN 3 > 2 STX SouL

There's no doubt in my mind that KHAN can take this, but it's anyone's guess as to whether they will. Hopefully we'll at least get to see some good Stork/Jangbi/FBH action!

Haha, blocking the third makes a 3 hatch spire build very awkward; you don't want to build the hatchery somewhere else since you're not going to get any more hatcheries (and therefore the ability mine from your third) for a while.
Except that Shavi isn't going lair at all, but rather 3 hatch hydra --> 4 hatch hydra, which should demolish Shuttle's double stargates.

There are two things I would say are problematic in PvZ.
One is long rush distances, because they completely remove the threat of any PvZ build that can apply pressure within the first 7+ minutes of the game. On closer rush distances, Protoss can apply light pressure off a forge FE (with, say, 3 zealots + 1 goon) or can open gateway-first.
The other is gas. Protoss needs gas-heavy units to combat hydralisks and speedlings, more different gas-heavy units to combat mutalisks, and yet another gas-heavy unit to combat lurkers. The popular solutions (that I'm aware of) are two-base builds that rely on Reavers, which are fairly light on the gas, or templar-oriented builds that rush for three gas.

one of the biggest problems is protoss' inability to hold onto their bases in the late game. not really the protoss player's fault since the crackling and swarm combination is so amazing at ripping down the nexus. the two main counters, storm and reavers, are very limited in use since templars need energy, cost a lot of gas, and can "miss" storms while reavers take a lot of supply, are expensive, fire slow, are buggy, and fragile.

The reason was that livestream was having issues and both Mystlord and Roffles had problems streaming games the other day.

pvz awful. 2 storms can only kill 1 lurker, protoss forced to waste storms and expo and units are too slow. Some lings can snipe any expo but if toss snipe hatchery it won't hurt zerg. The only way to lose is themselves fuck up or a huge skill gap.

I'm pretty sure Protoss needs reavers against this sort of lurker contain. Relying on dragoons to clear lurkers forced Stork further out than he wanted to be, exposing all his units. With reavers, he could poke barely into range and shoot at the zerg, but with dragoons, he had to move out into good enough positions that his dragoons could defeat the lurkers... and then ling/hydra/scourge rush in and ruin the day...
Although had Stork kept his corsairs alive, his options would've been much better.

a good sign of a good S-class player is they have confidence in cheese.
Playing standard is the easiest way to get hard countered.
For example, if Kal only mixes up 1 gate tech and heavy forge expand, 12 hatch econ cheese will hard counter his strat all the time
But if he mixes up 2 gate proxy, then people will think twice before doing econ cheese like 12 hatch, forcing him to do overpool/9pool which is better countered by the original forge expand.

Sad that Shuttle lost, he put up a good fight but the reinforcements from that ninja expo kicked in at just the right time, while he had spent his storms on the first wave, and though Chavi kept wasting a ton of shit afterwards he at least had the clairvoyance to hold Shuttle back with drops.
