A solid player who was good enough to acquire a monicker, yet not remarkable enough to have it sound properly fearsome, the Invisible Terran has skyrocketed into the spotlight during this Winners League, boasting a monstrous 24-7 record and three all-kills. Eyebrows were raised when he killed ACE, eyes popped from their sockets as he dismantled SKT and murdered eSTRO. Will Light remain visible by taking his momentum into the starleagues, or will he fade away -- just another proleague Terran in the shadow of more established figures like Sea and Leta?
Perfectman. A player who makes you appreciate the difference between mediocre and just plain bad. Gives new meaning to the phrase "to take one for the team." Is Jaedong looking more stressed than usual? Sleep deprived? Chances are, it's all Perfectman's fault. Well, Lomo's too. Will Perfectman top BaBy and create an even bigger upset in this Round of 36? "There's a good side to sucking. JD loses a game, it's a slump. I lose a game? Business. As. Usual."
The cutest player in professional Starcraft (not to be confused with the prettiestplayers), Zero isn't so cuddly when he's plaguing your marines and dark swarming your natural. He's downright obnoxious when he throws in a queen for kicks. After making a name for himself in ZvZ, Zero decided that the matchup wasn't subtle enough for him and outsourced it to his teammate Kwanro. Now he's free to orchestrate some of the scariest ZvT in the scene. Will he snuff out Light and take his cuteness to the next level?
With his impressive Winners League performance Light should be the favorite, and we know that he's gone deeper in the individual leagues than proleague Terrans such as Leta. At the same time, having been thrust into the spotlight and promoted to team ace overnight, he's probably been much more focused on the WL than Zero. I give the cutie pie an edge because of this, but I wouldn't be surprised if Light wins instead. Regardless of the final outcome, here's hoping it'll be a close, hard fought series.
Light vs Zero is gonna be the best matchup in the Ro36, both of those guys deserve to be in at least the Ro16, hell I could see this being a semi-final.
PerfectMan going to reaver cheese (proxy robo) Light in game 1 then DT drop in game 2, then lose to Zero's first 6 lings in game 1 then lose to hydra bust in game 2. Detailed and unreal predictions FTW
I suspect cheese from Perfectman. By the way, I do believe that Perfectman is now "Future". If he is the future of E-Sports, then I'd say it is pretty grim.
I don't know who to root for here. Light or Zero. Oh man, both deserve to be in the OSL!

Perfectman will perfectly execute his plan into perfection of a total perfect game that holds the victor to the most perfect player of all: + Show Spoiler +
Light
That being said, this sorta takes me back between Kira/Light vs Near in deathnote as we all know who Near is here....
Yes! I'm going to be awake for this one ZerO and Light..man, I don't know who to cheer for. I guess I'll cheer for Light, he's not only on fire but I'd rather see more terran than zerg in the OSL. I expect nothing less than amazing games, wish it was bo5.
Its kinda hard to vote on ZerO.. his record is like 55%.. ill admit when he wins he plays like sAviOr.. but he only plays like sAviOr 55% of the time.. Where as lights been steadily all killing hehe..
Despite all of what I said.. I still think Zero will win, and im a bit of a zero fan so i hope he will win as well.
One of Light or Zero is going out early, whereas 3 months ago, people wouldn't have remarked much upon this group's injustice. I can almost forgive Light if he doesn't make it through the preliminaries.

"Free hugs! Nah, just kidding. Playguuu!" I love this write up lol
Well I play Terran and want ZerO to make it more than Light just for the entertainment value but I feel Light deserves it more since he is always "invisible". I am just torn between the two. And PLEASE DO NOT LET PERFECTMAN MAKE IT IN! That would be just sad man, just sad.

No. First off he is not a zerg and not another terran to already the huge terran rolster in OSL. 2nd, in order to qualify, he would have to beat a top zerg in a PvZ. Not to mention someone with as much momentum as Light. 3rd, he will not make it.
And Flash loses to Hyun. Your point? Every gamer loses once in a while. Just because they lose a game here or there doesn't mean they aren't PL titans.

What you said was Sea and Leta weren't titans in Proleague because of a single loss for each player, and he was pointing out that you were retarded for saying so. What you originally said had no meaning close to "the titans of Proleague at this time are at a bad time"
And Sea, Zero, and Calm are not at a bad time at all.
I'll assume you meant to say "players" instead of "team" at the end there. What makes those players so "not worthy" of being revealed? Just because they aren't Flash/Jaedong they shouldn't be recognized for their skill? Should I believe that they are somehow not worthy of any wins they get just because you might not have heard of them until lately?

My Point is that if Light could beat Jaedong and Calm by which he can earn a ZerO?
I'm excited to see Light vs Zero, but I'm expecting Zero to win because Light always fails at individual leagues. I can remember him getting owned by Kwanro's (also Zero's teammate) speedlings in the previous MSL.
^ Light choked, sad to say. It should have been a longer game than that. It is too much of a burden for him to play the ace role. There was so much hype over Flash v Light prior to the match. I would have preferred to see Light play the second set in the KT match and then a fresh Sea play last for MBC. Oh well...
I hope it didn't affect his confidence for this OSL match though.

Dropship going! Drops right on the robo! Three goons going to intercept! Perfectman also blocks an attack from the front! Vultures are in the back, killing probes at the main! Net a few kills before getting goon'ed.
PM pushing! He will fail. Fourth factory going up for Light. Lol @ wraith. Wait just kidding PM not failing? WHERE IS SIEGE? Well finally -_- Too late for Light...
Light really shouldn't have tried that half-assed push, it was way too late to pull off some Flash-style early aggression and he ended up losing those extra tanks and vults that could've helped him hold against PM's push.
Why are people acting as if Light was some new PL prodigy. He has been a top 6-8 terran since Savior's prime and always qualified for the ro16/8 but didnt cut it with mediocre play at most times. He was a top 6-7 player last PL season too, but noone really cares, hence the name invisible terran.
Dropship picking up vults! Drop incoming! PROBE SEES IT. Lucky, PM. Lucky. Vultures get inside anyway, goons too late to intercept DS. Another probe seeking to expand dies.
Vultures die to cannon while arb cloaks probes, nice.
PM finally taking the top right natural. Light has the left hand base and a heavy ring of turret / mine basically everywhere. Zealots streaming out for PM, so he might be making a move soon.
PM snipes a dropship top right, nice job. First vessel to be seen. Might catch an arbiter heading for 12.
Its good to see perfectman not playing like a complete idiot and engaging Light directly PM Shuts down the group of units that was going to expand to Light's 4th
PM going! That's a ton of zealots... SCIFAC SNIPE YEAHHHHHHHH What the hell wait around to get that vessel T_T Great, PM now suicides about 4 goons into a minefield. Bottom left is finishing warping in now.
Battle erupts at 12, lots of zealots pour into a few tanks. An advance at 9 is repelled. Scifac dies to goon fire. One lonely stasised vessel sits to observe it. PM losing a lot of stuff to mines near top right. Also takes the bottom left bases.
Despite being a good attack, they are now tied in supply. Light is preparing a push to bottom left while PM is going for 12. pretty decent defensive setup by Light. Finally goons move in and might be able to kill the CC. Light pushing towards the 6 base in revenge. CC down at 12.
6 saved! Nexus would've died in two more tank shots :O Light trying to expand to 8:30 More units lost to mines -_- Meh at least 2:00 is held. Vultures back on 6 again, nexus is going to go down.
Perfectman's a-movement of his zealots are making them pause when mines pop out, letting them explode and kill, rather than dragging them into Light's tanks
Carriers have literally no upgrades against 3-3 metal. I doubt this can work out for PM, although his supply is bulging now. Carriers enter the battle, eat an emp right away.
It's already like 6-7 of them. Light has to retreat all his tanks of his defense line. Full attack by PM now. Loses goons, but Light hardly has anti air. Carriers cleaning up a lot.
Finally a new batch of gols arrives and drives back the carriers. Carriers have +1 attack by now. Light pushing towards top right while the carriers head for bottom left. Ground force of PM coming to defend the top. Light building turrets everywhere.
top right in grave danger. Carriers taking out stuff at the bottom left. Gols arrive to the rescue.
PM snuck his ground force there which is taking out the gols easily. But he is going to lose his top bases soon.
goons and an archon ruining light's 7 - but light now taking down 3...carriers now moving to light's army upper right - tanks retreat as a TON of goliaths move forwards
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYY SSSSSSSHHHHHHIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTT!!! lol. I dont understand Korean, but i distinctly recall the commentators laughing at hwaseung tosses all the time.
I'm sorry, but Light has no one to blame but himself for his failure. Gay turtle on a 4-player map + allowing perfectman to get his economy going again... Invisible indeed.
LoL Everyone sad that Light is out, yet 2 months ago no one gave two shits about him in individual leagues? And Kona mentions Light in the same breath as Jaedong and Bisu? Y'all are bandwagoning.
The last time JD lost in the early rounds of the OSL. A Oz toss, aka the worst kind of toss, reached the semifinals upsetting all kinds of players. We will see if the miracle reoccurs
Light's control was incredible into that late game. Microing against carriers, perfect EMPs everywhere, and coordinated pushes and harassment all at the same time. He was never able to get over Perfectman's mid game advantage though, I think Light was counting on Perfectman making mistakes

Light is good but not great, always has been and probably always will be. Just nobody really noticed him and then suddenly he went from underrated to insanely overrated.

His PvAnything was never as good as the dragons. That said, his PvT and PvP were adequate and his PvZ is probably the most hilarious match up of all time (though sometimes unusually competent).

MBC team has a salary capped thats pretty low compared to big budget team like skt and ktf. once bisu became 2xmsl champ he left MBC for sktt1 due to salary?

Light has been good for a long long time, but MBC players just can't seem to do well in the individual leagues. Personally I hoped his recent results in WL would make him go further than usual, but alas, it did not.

July, Bisu...
July basically hated MBC. The moment he left MBC for STX, he got his Golden Mouse.
Bisu didn't do anything until he went to SKT1.

July didn't like MBC cause of team obligations, and SKT1 just didn't work out. He said one of the things he liked about STX was that the coaches let him kind of determine his own practice schedule a lot more than his previous teams...hence the immediate OSL win.

Did you even read the recent July interview? He said he loved MBC. And no the immediate OSL win had nothing to do with STX directly, it was the luckiest bracket ever, he got 2 bo wins vs terrans in ro36, zvz ro16 group, and 3 tosses that are horrible in PvZ. The favourites all got knocked out early in that OSL.

Yeah. That was quite some time ago, you know.
Just saying, MBC bred two of the most iconic, bonafide champions, and combined has as many titles as, well...

Maybe so, but it seems like their managment hasn't really been good in training their players for individuals in the last 3 years or so. :q

i think because the fat coach left for some reason. he recently came back and now mbc is owning again. he lead mbc to proleague championship a quite a few season back. i really like his coaching style and personality. go watch the hyung joon become a progamer show to see how awesome he is.
usually i hate the mass hydra into win strat, but perfectman's pathetic play and complete idiocy is making this all so lovely. hes got hydras knocking on his nat and he doesnt build more cannons. still has slowlots, no reavers and no templar tech.
On March 19 2010 20:10 rainei wrote: haha did PM forget to tech or something??
Nope, hej ust teched to double stargate corsairs and +1 without actually killing every OL on the map. Combine that with cannon rush and all his other tech was too late to defend the average hydra army.

weak play - it was a cannon rush->loss
rather like cannon rush-->success-->2 gate sair-->decent overlord hunting--->forgot/decided that he didnt need templar or reaver tech-->epic failure. This is the 0-12 PM that we all know
So, in Perfectman's defense, he was playing on El Nino/Great Barrier Reef. PvZ is hideously bad on that map, because Zerg can readily secure 4 gas while Protoss needs a corsair fleet and shuttle to even take a third.
Guys, guys, don't hate on PM for beating Light then getting rolled. Zero was destined to make the Ro16 no matter what. The ends justify the means... we are at peace.

The thing is, we root for Zero because he produces good games. But it takes two to tango, and when you're paired up with Perfectman, no amount of cuteness is going to make it look good.

Ro36 is chump round (not for chumps, just saying it's just the warmup). We'll see those good games for the rest of the OSL, do not fret.

He played super passively. I thought PM was going to win earlier when he still had an army backed by 7 bases, but he was gracious enough to walk it into minefields/EMPs so the game turned into an elimination race.
On March 19 2010 20:14 elf_01 wrote: Soooo..how exactly did Light lose against this failure again?
I don't think Perfectman is that bad, but Light is mainly known for beating zergs. His TvP and TvT, although strong is not so spectacular. If Light was playing a zerg, he probably would be playing against zero right now.
Light is pretty damn solid, I think he just overextended himself in the last game, trying to defend the entire line of defense instead of focusing on defending more on 7/8. Watch his games vs BeSt and Bisu to see what I mean.

I think Light was fine throughout the game, he just wasn't abusing dropships + the map layout enough. He kept on trying to take 12 when it's easily attacked from the other side, while ignoring bottom left. If he expanded down instead of right, he would've had an easier game. It's much easier to hold the left or right side on the map than the top/right mid parts of the mpa.

actually, for 12 oclock, just some depot walls would have helped. Light already had mines, turrets and tanks there.

Zero showed agressive muta play after he lost his third hatch. Perfectman opted to get goons to help stop it since he suffered heavy sair losses early on, which in turn slowed down his tech.

Actually the goon switch was very bad. The commentators said that ZerO had said after the game, that he only got hydras because of corsairs, but thanks to PM's goon tech switch, he was able to win the game.
and about that third, there's one available right behind the nat.

There's no place for it. The only gas Protoss can take is stashed away in the island expansions.
As far as I can tell, Protoss has to either play hyperaggressive (which PM did, but clumsily) or go sair/reaver.

... HE HAD 2-STARGATES, YOU DONT NEED GOONS WHEN YOU INVEST THAT HEAVILY IN AA. He had killed all of Zero's mutas too, there werent that many to begin with and Zero simply stopped making them after scouting 2 starports

LOLOL DT GETS 0 KILLS.
I'm an Oz fanboy, I know what I'm talking about, OK?
Idiot Protoss moves out off 3 bases against 3 bases before his third base kicks in, gets roflstomped in the open because his composition is terrible. Now he has no goons to defend the oncoming ultras.
ZerO says this is his third OSL, and the past two, he ended up in the Ro8. He was afraid of playing against a toss, but after winning the first game he was ready to turn his rape mode on.
Lol Zero would never say this in his interviews, but he just literally told the world he thinks PM is a piece of shit. hahaha that last game was just comedy, Zero put on a show, and he fully knew he could get away with it after PM failed epicly that last game...
Something like speedlot/archon + either DA or sair/DT would murder that playstyle, but Perfectman built a ton of goon-temp and then got them surrounded trying to attack an empty 6'oclock.
On March 19 2010 20:38 s.Q.uelched wrote: What happend in the first game, PM vs Zero?
PM cannon rushed ZerO after pylon blocking his nat. After that, he proceeded to get raped by mass hydras thanks to a rather retarded tech switch into goon-heavy army instead of HTs.
On March 19 2010 20:38 s.Q.uelched wrote: What happend in the first game, PM vs Zero?
cannon rush kills zero's third, PM goes 2 stargate sairs vs mutas, kills all of Zero's air and then starts working on the overlords. PM then decides that he doesnt need tech and goes mass goon vs mass hydra. then he adds slowlots cause he thinks that will help. kills 15 hydras in exchange for 15 goons, proceeds to get raped by hydra-lurk as he has no templar archives and no observatory as the game ends
Perfectman needs to have better scouting, I don't think he ever saw what was going on in Zero's base, and if he did, he needs to have a better reaction to it. Getting a third was good, but he needed some more archons and stuff, plus scouts to counter the queens imo.

I guess the best PvZer ever is a piece of shit according to Zero too
Love the shows he puts up. Always fun to watch Zero play, and he knows how to relax and give his fans some entertainment
That last game was worth the wait, imo. Zero was pissed at PM for cannon rushing the previous game, then pitied him because he had no follow-up at all. So he said to himself, I'm gonna make him cry this game lol
Actually, I enjoyed games 3 and 5 quite a lot. And game 2 was entertaining for me too because for once PM was the one doing the raping.
ROFL! Light, how did you lose to someone so bad? Just saw the vods. Perfectman can't even win after successfully cannon rush? Thank god he didn't accidentally beat zero too.
Light has confidence issues, always had. Noone has ever doubted his potential but he always under-performs when the spotlight is placed over him.
Oh well, maybe some good will come out of this and the MBC coach will stop trying to play him as an ace. Light does best when he flies under the radar. All this press coverage is just too stressful for him.

He needs to get over it somehow. Oz coach managed to get Killer to decent by spamming him in ace matches, and probably can do the same for Light. (ignoring the epic fail of oz tosses here)
I dunno what should be done about Light. He just seems too humble a guy. But I'll see what happens in MSL. MBC gamers always fair better at MSL than OSL anyway, for obvious reasons. Plus Light is seeded for MSL.
Meanwhile, for the sake of the team, Ha Tae Ki pls play Sea last for the semis and hopefully the finals of the Winners League. And no experimenting with any of the Dream Leaguers!
I didn't think Light would fail against PerfectMan but I'm not surprised he failed to qualify.
People on TL are really quick to over-hype players. Light had a great month but it seems he ran out of luck yesterday. Not really upset that Zero qualified though. He is an entertaining player.
The Light vs. Perfectman set 3 was such a sweet game. Light went for the Flash strategy of turtling the entire map, upgrade and then roll the P. Perfectman didn't miss a beat and expanded four times, ending up on a totaly of 6 bases by the time Light had 3 or 4 and a huge army. After this the scene was set for an epic clash. Light lost the 12o'clock, PM lost 6.
The arbiter tech into carriers into trading bases - both players really wanted to win. It was such an awesome game. I haven't seen Kal vs. Flash yet, but so far this is the best TvP of 2010.
this isn't really that surprising - perfectman hasn't been playing in WL has he - probably more or less just been prepping for this - whereas light has played several games at a time most days this month - i mean, it's obviously an upset - but frankly zero is historically the superior player anyway and has showed some sick skills
On March 20 2010 05:49 Ducci wrote: Game 3 of the first set was quite an exciting game to watch
I agree. The total lack of econ for either players made it that much more tense. They were both on 0 mining bases, but PM still had some left over minerals in his main for interceptors. That was rather cool.

It was not a good game.
Light was far behind until it looked like he could be back in it if he manages secure the bottom left. But it turned out he could not. He did not display the clutch defense that one might have hoped for at several key points. And by then Perfectman, having mined from 6 bases for so long, could get away with anything, however badly executed...
