not sure but i actually think its good due to the 1 extra mineral patch in main and also the fact that nony has been playing text book 1 gate goon fast expand and probably overestimated the advantage bridges can give him.

because one gate DT into storm is a pretty common build on desti nony went for a two gate bust for a one gate expo build but jf took a bigger risk
Lol Nony what are you doing... losing 2 reavers + shuttle into Jf's main army once and then losing shuttle with 3 ht's and 1 zeal into JF's army again...
Nony made some mistake with the shuttles but wasn't he screwed from the start since he made his expo really late thanks to JF small contain and couldn't harass to catch back?
Don't know but i really think JF played this really well and Nony couldn't really do anything.
OK i can see nony losing the shuttle with two reavers due to mismicro. That has happened to all of us, but what was with the second shuttle. He just saw the army there with his dts
Nony said in his interview that unless JF isn't a wizzard that can double up his skill in one week he has no chance. I guess this proves JF is not a wizzard.

You'll see JF will put on his wizard hat and his robe!!
On February 21 2010 05:12 domane wrote: Were the armies completely equal? Or did one player have more goons?
nony might have had one or two more goons, but that couldn't have accounted for his huge margin of victory in that battle
He had amazing first scarabs at the bottom clump of ~5 goons. I think that was "pivotal".
Yeah I think nony spread his goons thinner. JF didn't seem to care about that clump on the left with 2 goons tucked behind the 3 goons. Maybe he thought he had it in the bag.
If only JF's reavers would be more involved in that battle faster...
EDIT: I saw something about a double post and I apologize for that. It was not my intention to double post, since it seemed like the page was frozen, so I hit the "refresh" button and then it seemed like I double posted. Just wanted to point it out asap
Sigh. JF's reavers out of place totally lost that. He had the better concave, won the goon vs goon, he just didn't have ANY of his four reavers there! ARGH
On February 21 2010 05:30 sl wrote: NO WAYYY JF would won that battle by a margin if the reavers hit more...
And Nony would have won it by a big margin if the rest of his goons had been shooting. Neither was perfect.
yeah actually I think the bigger difference was that JF let his macro slide quite a bit while that battle went on — when the dust settled JF was only a few supply down on NonY, but then only a minute later NonY was ahead by ~20 or so supply
WOW, great PvP. That was some sick reaver control. I really thought that JF's concave was gonna crush Nony. Nice job, Nony, Good luck in the Finals, should be easy-peasy!

His goons were shooting? What are you talking about lol
JF's reavers were totally out of position T_T
I'm talking about the six or so that were hanging out behind his reavers not doing anything. He just didn't position all his goons well, which is why jf had the better position/concave.
Edit: Really all I was trying to say is that it's easy to say "If jf/nony had played perfectly he would have won" as long as you assume that the other person doesn't play perfectly. I'm just not sure how informative it ever is to say that.

about 5-6 of nonys goons were left out and weren't shooting
Nony's army moved in a ball, Jf had a realllllly nice arc on him, but Jf's reavers wasn't close enough to shoot, so Jf's goons got ~8 extra hits from reavers, that what cost him the game.

yes i know lol
nonys macro was better too, his supply was +20 after the battle, which ended up pretty damn even.
Kind of disappointing. Seems like results were spoiled after the second game. Nony ggs and the replay ends which meant it was his replay. Don't winners usually send in the reps? Don't know if that's what actually happened, but it seemed like it.
Game 2 was clearly all part of NonY's plan. I mean the Shuttle suicides had to be deliberate. Obviously, NonY knew that he couldn't go up 2-0, since that activate's JF's PvP godmode, so he had to throw game 2 to prevent it and set up the 3-1.

Both players have to send in reps and there is a ref in the games that saves reps as well.
Apologies about the abrupt stream end, we were about to wrap up and do the credits since Nony was AFK, then the stream software crashed. It seemed a waste of time to set it up again just for the credits.

Congrats on making it to the finals. GL and own some zerg.
2ndgame was so lol, 2 full shuttle just kamikazed a bit of disattention
game 4 was najs i am gonna teoricraft pvp on it, its jst bad tsl wii no release reps of this stage. Maybe the players can collect it by themself and post but its hard.
p.s. Now just mondi's drops can be a problem, sen will be simply outmehanized

Why do people insist on making up shit if they don't have a clue? Replays are taken from both players and we always use the obs replay. Go away.

just surprising! Now i have two reason to support him in the final ... he is P and it also appear like he speaks italian! Nony FTW!
PS: I expected JF to win this match, he beat Draco and White-RA ... Nony was certainly impressive in this serie and he must be very well trained to win so easily vs JF. For the final i hope in another Z total rape, like the great Bisu vs Savior serie ...
very GG's - fun to watch the reaver/goon micro from two top players. my one qualm was that nony sort of spoiled the match before the broadcast - in his sc2 thread where he faced david kim, he made a comment at the end about how he couldn't dedicate too much time to sc2 at the moment because he was preparing for his $10000 match in the TSL. this was posted earlier today before the broadcasts, so the implication seemed very obvious that he had beaten JF.

Someone can confirm if I'm wrong, but when Nony posted that, he hadn't even played his games with JF yet. So I think he was just assuming he was going to win or was giving a reason why he couldn't play SC2 much until after the TSL.
I remember reading that post and thought to myself, yes that makes sense. How can you play 100's of games in SC2 beta when you have a 10k tournament you could win.
There's two ways of interpreting it. I have a $10,000 game coming up in a week or I want to beat JF so I can have a chance at $10,000. I see your concern but this could be an innocent mistake.

hm, well if nony played the matches against JF in the time window after that post but before the streaming, then I will definitely apologize. but the amount of time in between the post and the stream is pretty small, so it seems more likely to me that he played the match before the post.

Nah Nony said that because he knows he was going for the 10k, he was never going to stop at 5000 so eaven if those games were played he would of said the same thing in the end, he's going for the 10k ...

well, even if nony lost to jf, he would have said the same thing o.o
i was watching the stream when he said it, that was friday night/saturday morning... about 12 hours before the tsl stream was, so i doubt the matches had been played already, and it sounded like him just assuming to win anyway.
The matches were played very close to stream time, the post by Nony was made well in advance. I think it's safe to assume Nony isn't dumb enough to accidentally spoil the results like that days ahead of time.

awesome - I fully admit that I was wrong, then. the language was very misleading to me, but I guess nony is a super confident guy so I guess he just assumed he would win
also I know that nony is a smart guy - but everyone slips up from time to time. that post was made on february 20th, so I don't think it was days in advance (unless I'm missing something else?). at any rate, glad that it got cleared up, and once again, gg's from nony and JF

Indeed the post was made before the match. I made the same mistake as the previous poster. I saw Nony's post after the match happened but before I watched the VODs, and thought I had gotten spoiled. Then I looked at the date...
seems to me like nony was just saying 10k in reference to how much he COULD earn and why he isnt putting that much effort into sc2 atm (because he could win 10k.) the way it's phrased seems harmless to me
Yeah that David Kim thread was made before I played JF. I generally don't post at all between the time I play my games and broadcast time.
And yeah I'm studying a bit of Italian at university. I'm nowhere near fluent but of course I can write a few sentences. The guy's English seemed a little bad so I thought I'd volunteer my Italian for him
Sorry for the dumb post, but when is the other Ro4 set? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I usually don't keep up with current events so having trouble navigating the site to it.

Did the written interview take place? Can't seem to find it anywhere. I am very impressed by NonY's play, but I'd really like to know: (a) What was up with the two shuttles? (b) The attack in the last game was succesful, but it looked to me as if it might have failed just as easily. I think Tasteless and Artosis where sceptical too. JF had more gateways and was defending - how did you know that the attack would work? Or do you think in hindsight that it was a dangerous decision? (c) How did you decide to go by "Tyler" in sc2? (I like "NonY" better, and unlike some people I don't find it so hard to pronounce properly).
