From last season 1. Offensive ceremonies are banned. Specifically ones related to politics or religion.
2. The season is divided up into five periods. KeSPA has the right to change the map pool after each period for balance or other reasons.
3. If two teams have same record after the final period, both teams will choose one player to play an Ace match to decide everything.
4. Before the game, KeSPA Referees will carefully check every single player's Mouse, Mousepad, Keyboard, and clothing.
New: Chatting Players who type anything besides 'gg' or 'GG' are no longer disqualified from the match, but are given a 'warning'. The KeSPA referee's decision is placed higher than this rule.
Ex. If a player accidentally types 'a', he would not be disqualified, but warned. But if a player types something like 'sexsexpussyhair' they can still be disqualified by KeSPA referee's decision.
Complaining If a coach complaint comes in during a match, the game is paused immediately and the complaint is reviewed. Before, if a coach complained, the referee would listen to the complaint and then decide if the game is going to be paused.
Disqualifications and Removal If a player or a coach does something that directly effects the game, or hinders the game in any way, must leave the stage to the waiting room. The details are discussed in the waiting room.
"Gather" and "Return Cargo" The "return cargo" bug to get a worker past another unit has been previously banned. Now they are adding the "gather" command onto the list. A player is only allowed to use "move" to move past other units, not "gather" or "return cargo".*** clarification
* Entries are no longer revealed 48 hours before the scheduled games. They are now revealed set-by-set on the site. Even players do not know who they will face. Any player who has played in any of the first 4 sets can still play in the ace match. This will provide more challenge and excitement to both fans and players.
* The one-race-per-match compulsory rule is now gone. Teams can now send 4 of the same races if they wish to.
This is just the chart I explain in this pl article, this is now obsolete with the abolition of the 1 of each race rule, however this is what it looked like for rounds 1 and 2 (also has which race each team sent out for ace! That part is maybe still useful).
Awesome, PL is never really started until this thread goes up ^^. I didn't watch live last season, but it's pretty awesome how on 3/5 days the start time is great for EST!
in case a mod hasn't noticed, skt's standings are mixed up, they WON 3-0 vs. woonjing and LOST 1-3 vs. estro. its the same thing in the vods actually, or at least the skt vs. estro is marked in results as skt 3-1 ing estro, havent seen the woonjing vods though.
EDIT: lol sorry was looking at it bakwards, my bad! the vods though still say skt won. sorry!
Skt is below both mbc and estro according to fomos, and that what they will probably go by in the proleague. I think they rank it by win loss differential, so skt is at +0 (sets) while mbc/estro r at +1 (sets) right now, making them tied for 5th
Well i guess since both estro and mbc have played one less set than skt, then its alright, but yea. =)
I just do it by straight game wins and then differential because I can never remember how fomos scores it. Having the teams with less games played ranked higher makes the most sense so you would think I would get it by now.
I changed it just this once because you were nice about it.
(also it should be totally updated now, with map stats and everything!)

Lol. If you go to http://www.fomos.kr/, on the right column there will be the proleague standings. It might require you a bit of brain work to figure out which team is which, but if you update your standings regularly then you should be fine.

you're not kidding about that being hard to figure out. Anyone who has free time should put the korean standings into an online translator, you get some pretty weird and funny translations lol.
Also, is ret not on the eStro roster this round? And does anyone know who is 1st on the kespa ratings on fomos? whoever it is is like a thousand points ahead of everyone else.

Ret joined eStro after the proleague had started, so no, he's not on their roster. Also, I'm not sure if he even has his progaming license yet.
I can't believe no one else has noticed that, its been wrong for nearly a year now. Its also currently incorrect for the EST/KST time conversion, as the times there are for daylight savings time. Thanks for pointing it out.
I'm not fixing that second part because when dst comes in a week as there is no way I'm remembering to change it back. It will be correct very soon!
Also, about 12 hours from now this should be current to reflect the standings of week 3. Heads up y'all.

And the number 1 on the Kespa ranking is Jaedong.
He doesn't and it would be silly to think that they would put him on their PL roster as soon as he obtained it. It takes a lot of work to make it that far.
wow some serious ee han timing here, 8 minutes shy of exactly 12 hours after I made my promise its updated.
The standings are kind of screwy this week, because KT/SKT/STX/HITE all have 6 matches played while FOX/MBC have 4, and they are both 3-1. I ordered mine as fomos did as I assume its "official" but there really isn't any good way of accounting for how standings truly are because of the difference in games played.
No matter, as KT is clearly in first place regardless!
This is now updated for the end of week 4. My standings right now don't agree 100% with fomos but I don't think theirs is updated yet - I'll double check it later to figure out anything wrong.
I also added two new graphs, oen that shows how the total game breakdown is for each team (win/lost in X games) and the other is going to be updated with the updated version of the double race thing I explained in the last PL article.
i knew there has to be the PL table somewhere around, finally found it. thanks heyoka! can't believe how low Oz has gone, hope to see some changes next week.
ok it turns out I forgot one of Stars matches. The standings should be correct, but I won't have time to upload an updated image until later (my roommate is making my internet unusable) -- the pointspread is also slightly off. KHAN is actually doing worse than that image shows lol!
The really baffling thing is that the english kespa site had all this nicely translated for a few days and now its only showing 8 teams and the game results of the last 2 weeks or something, I have no idea what but its not current standings.
edit: ok its fixed, I just made some silly mistakes. ACE and Oz have the exact same game record, but Oz has one more match win lolol
On November 11 2009 12:36 Crunchums wrote: are there two weeks left in round 1 or is it three?
2 weeks left, but this coming week is an off week (WCG) so three weeks until the end of round 1. One will we be a full schedule, the last week will only have 4 days of matches.
Everything should be updated. Except for the KT logo.
If Khan loses to MBC I think ACE will only finish second to last. Have they ever done this before? I think one round they may have finished ahead of eSTRO?
True, SKT1 could take the second spot with a victory.
It's also a pretty close season. I think every team has a chance at the playoffs except for probably ACE sadly. If KHAN/Sparkyz can get their all-star players going, they'll be fine.
Posting that this thread is now current. I whipped through some of the lesser looked at stats so its possible there are mistakes, thanks to us the English KeSPA site has the ones people usually look at anyway. ACE not last for the start of the year :D
PredY: proleague is 5 rounds (all round robin, rounds 1, 2, 4, and 5 being a best of 5 format with round 3 being bo7 winner's league) with no teams advancing in between each of them (or doing anything really, the breakup into rounds is just a way of separating when teams play eachother). At the end, total match wins are tallied up and the top half (top 6) go into a weird playoff system that last year involved teams being seeded (with first place being seeded into the finals) but I don't know if it has officially been announced how it will run this year. The first round is now done, and next week each team begins 'anew' to play each other team. Individual game wins are only used for tiebreakers among teams who have the same number of match wins.
I dropped the ball on this because I was sick week1 of round 2 and by the time I had the results it was halfway through week 2 so i figured I would wait
When a team plays two games in a week, are they going to play one in the MBCGame Center and another in the OGN building? Or can it end up being a team having both games in one building?

there is no rule that a team must play one match at mbcgame cener and one at the ogn.sometimes it can end up on the same building.
its a good thing someone bumped this because I totally forgot to update it despite working on a piece for the pl update
Only current post week 2 currently, give me a few hours and it will be up to date (or you can go to KeSPA's site for total standing BUT I HAVE OTHER GRAPHS THEY DO NOT)
also a few of my point spread numbers are wrong but I don't know why yet so don't trust them 100%
This is now totally updated, finally! Total standings as well as auxiliary charts! Nice timing, STX propels themselves into second place with a hot 8-1 run so far this round. KHAN finally moves up to 10th starting out 6-2.
Wow the first round really hurt Khan a lot. The only way they can get into playoffs is if they keep playing this strong and the other strong contenders (CJ, Hite, Fox, Oz) keep losing.
Unfortunately CJ and Oz are damn beasts in WL while Khan is weak at this format.

dude they were weak LAST WL.
If Stork,Jangbi,Great & FBH show up and play , or even just one of them they are a huge contender.
only teams like wemade , estro, ace , hite have no chance not teams with many superstars and/or great players.

Yeah and if Hiya, Killer, BackHo all show up and play Oz will own PL finals easily with Jaedong as ace.
Oh and if Mind and Nada get to their SL destroying forms WeMade can rape anyone too. And ACE! Wow if Anytime, Reach, GoRush, Xellos, Ruby, Much, Casy, Darkelf finally play like they used to, they'll be unbeatable!
The truth is great is not more than a decent/good zerg, firebathero will definitely never be back, his play is starting to become worse than savior's (except when he plays Flash). Jangbi owned in the last WL so I expect him to rape again, hes also the best Khan player atm. Stork is starting to get many random losses again.
Sorry if this was in your old updates, but I just noticed it now:
New: Chatting Players who type anything besides 'gg' or 'GG' are no longer disqualified from the match, but are given a 'warning'. The KeSPA referee's decision is placed higher than this rule.
Good to see KeSPA finally got a tiny bit of common sense.
I'm bumping this to say its updated with the end of round 2 - but the graphs don't reflect winner's league right now. I'm a little unsure how to handle that so it will be a few days (I'll probably update the standings soonish but the other charts will lag behind).
The bottom of the post will have results updated close to daily however, in a nice list format! You might not have to dig through LR threads to see how your favorite gangster did!
We have Hite, Khan and Oz at the bottom of the table. CJ and SKT both can fall down below top6 too (CJ is #7 already). Apart from KT, MBC and STX it looks like many positions can still change.
But I am pretty sure we wont get two of Hite, Khan, Oz in the top6 by the end of round 5. Maybe all three will miss it.
On March 16 2010 22:49 SuperArc wrote: WL ended and Khan still remains in the last place (excluding ace).
Anyone else finds it funny that #6 to #11 have the same win/loss ratios? :p
They might be second to last overall, but they have closed the gap quite a bit in WL. Hopefully we can see a resurgence from Khan, vaulting them back into Playoff contention. Things are looking up for them. FBH's somewhat rediscovered his mojo, and Stork/Jangbi are playing better than they were previous rounds.
this is the most competitive (parity wise) proleague season ever. Ignoring ACE, every team is 1 match win away from making the playoffs. such a good time to be a fan

I'll have this updated after week 1 of this round ends, I've been lazy. The above post has the right standings; I'm hoping to have a pretty big update this time with a bunch of new charts whee.
I can't believe I didn't notice this before, but ACE has way too many terrans in comparison to the other races. Some or RAINBOW and TT would have been nice. I remember in an interview a year back Stork said he heard that Rainbow was practicing reavers against Fantasy alot to prepare him for Stork.
Q: When are players chosen for each set officially? A: First set chosen after they have done opening cheering and such. After that each set right after each game written by coach to paper and given to KeSPA referee who then shares information to opposing team and broadcasting team.
Q: Do players still know which set they play? A: 99% yes they do but they don't know opponent until few minutes before they start warming up.
Q: Are there any race limitations? A: No, you can play all terrans, zerg or protoss if coach decides that way.
Q: Can player play twice that match? A: Yes but only one normal set (1 to 4 set) and one ACE set (5th set)

They have Yellow, Anytime, and Reach which they use fairly often. I suppose it is up to the coach to decide who goes based on practice.
Huuuuuuuuuuuuge update! Not only did I make this completely up to date with the first week of round 4, but I added in some new things.
What is new: teams broken down by players (like this). This has how each player did each round in relation to the rest of the team. Arbitrary cutoff is a player having to have 5 games played to make it (thank snowdrift86 for this, he thought of it for the end of WL). Team race win-loss, so like the protoss lineup for Oz has only won 1 game all year (this is separated into WL and non-WL because of how our database handles it but I'll combine this myself eventually). Total ace match stats through the season by team, and also by player (FPL has these but only for individual rounds).
Enjoy! I just noticed I forgot to update map stats, I might not get to it until tomorrow or next week.

So the "Pts" category on the OP is just game differential? Does this have any affect on the playoffs or anything?
Sorry, just a little confused. Not sure what word could be used instead of "Pts" to make it a little more self-explanatory. "Game differential" is a lot of text to fit in the box.
The match win-loss from the regular season part is added into the total score, and I think the game differential score translates as well. The playoff matches don't count towards anything.
On April 19 2010 11:40 DavidCanFly wrote: Wait.. so Winner's League counts now?
Winner's League has always counted toward team standings. Unless you mean Winner's League being finally inputted into the OP, in which case I believe you have Heyoka to thank.

Most exciting PL season ever?
Yeah, heh. That 6th spot is going to be very competitive once we get towards the end of the season. All the 6-11 teams are within 1-2 games of each other... and the ones ahead of them aren't far ahead at all. Shaping up to be great.
If SKT loses tomorrow they'll officially enter the danger zone (rank 6). WeMade is looking good to enter the playoffs. :o STX is the only challenger to take KT's #1 spot.
Isn't there still round 5 to go? Other than Ace, I don't think anyone's fate is guaranteed yet, theoretically. It will be pretty tough for KT to drop out of top 6, though - it require all 6 teams below them to win an appropriate amount (including almost all wins from CJ) as well as almost all losses from KT.
STX is actually catching up... If KT loses tonight they're in trouble for the #1 spot, since STX is on fire and only three wins away. Round 5 works as normal, yeah, so nothing is decided yet... Man like 4-10 are all so close.
It's such a nail-biter; so many of the teams didnt even make the playoffs last year. What a turn-around; I hope the end-of-the-round struggles to make it into the playoffs result in great games of SC.
Wow, SKT went 2-0 this week and all they managed to do with this nice streak is to barely stay in top6. It's really a hot fight for the PL playoffs.
Hite and Khan might look to be out of the race already. Their record and current form are not good. STX and KT are going to easily defend their top2 positions while MBC might fall down to open up a big fight for ranks 3-6.
A fight between Stars, CJ, Oz, estro, Fox(best depth atm), MBC, SKT1.
R5 results will have such a big impact on the standings with all teams so close to each other.

Nope even if they win every single game, they cant reach top6.
I checked the Kespa site today. Apparently STX still needs one more win to tie KT for total number of wins. They would still stay in second place though.
However, KT has two games this week. If Flash and co. win even one of them, then it's back to square one.
Such a good time to be a fan; this is the most competitive PL season ever. Every team except ACE has a chance to make the playoffs and most teams at the top can still miss the playoffs heading into R5 and shit is gonna come down to the wire.

R4 ended with today's games. With today's win SKT1 were able to stay in top6. STX' loss hurt them a lot in their quest for #1. Only STX and KT are safe from dropping out of the playoffs.
The remaining four spots are fought between MBC, WeMade, CJ, SKT1, Oz, Hite, Stars, Khan, estro.
If teams keep their R4 form the rankings will most likely end with #3 WeMade, #4 CJ, #5 SKT1, #6 MBC

KT is losing the 1st place most likely, the similarity between KT and STX is that both teams usually decide their games through ace match, the difference is that STX almost never lose it and KT rarely wins it:-)
I think after todays games the 5th and 6th spot are still up for grabs. dont think think hite and estro are still in contention though. and Khan might be...but their point differential is really bad.
SKT wins and gives themselves a buffer. CJ loses and drops down into a tie for 6th, although I think Wemade will win the tiebreaker if it comes down to it. Samsung gets a huge win vs a streaking CJ, putting them closer to a playoff spot. eSTRO loses and is basically out of the running.

I like the way you present the information, Radfield. Good stuff.
There's not much difference playoff-wise for teams in 3rd to 6th place, so it's really just a race to get 6th. Although if SKT solidly takes 3rd, and they've got a good buffer since they've got a good lead on CJ and a game in hand - the team in 6th will have to face them and at least by SKT's 4-game win streak, with an 11 game individual set win streak, they're looking very strong.
SKT 5.5 games behind 2nd place...STX probably won't lose enough for SKT to catch up. Still, it'll be awesome to ride the momentum of a dominating R5 before the playoffs begin.

Yes, but he obviously means the decisive game 7. He also lost to Stork in that great match that was also on Match Point in a decisive game 7. But yes, he is definitely a clutch player and Flash is the only person I'd give an edge (maybe Baby?) over him in a critical ace match.

KT beats STX handily, meaning that they have almost assuredly gained first place. To catch up STX needs to go 5-1, and have KT go 2-5, assuming that STX wins the tiebreak. But I think that in the event of a tie, KT will probably have the advantage, which means STX has to go 6-0 and hope that KT goes 2-5 (or 5-1/1-6, 4-2/0-7). Not very likely which means that KT will likely be first place, and STX will be second
Hwaseung dropping a game to wemade is really hard at this point, as they're getting closer to mathematical elimination. However they have a fairly decent schedule to finish out the season, playing Ace, hite, Khan and estro, as well as CJ, SKT, and KT.
Wemade moves a game above CJ and 2 games above 7th place woongjin. They also play Ace, estro, SKT and Khan, but have really big games against Woongjin and CJ still to come. It's possible that the Woongjin vs Wemade game in Week 6 will be a deciding game in who makes the playoffs.

They played KT already and beat them. The team missing is MBC.

That could be close. A bunch of players on Fox are quite strong against zerg statistically but despite GuemChi's recent losses his PvT is pretty dangerous. Soulkey and Kwanro won their last several games against terrans and that is the weakest matchup for both of them.

At this point all three teams outside looking in need to put on stellar perfomances to make the playoffs. However, if one of SKT, CJ or Wemade gutters down the stretch by going 2-4, 1-5(or 1-4 for CJ) then we have a very good chance to see a change in the standings. Honestly, at this point there is an outside shot that MBC could completely fail down the stretch, but they would have to fail oh so hard. Two wins basically gives them a playoff spot, but they did just lose to ACE....
MBC's remaining schedule: Woongjin, Samsung, SK Telecom, CJ, KT, Hwaseung. No easy teams on that list.
Here are the Magic Numbers for each qualifying team. This number represents how many wins they need to be guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. This is assuming that a tie is unacceptable, because Woongjin could basically beat anyone in a tiebreaker, especially if they won most of their remaining games.

I think he counted wrong. SKT should be at 28-22, but I think MBC is at 29-21. I'm pretty sure they are still two games behind STX.

Oz and Khan are now within striking distance of both CJ and Wemade. Khan plays Wemade on week 7, which could be the deciding game for the playoffs.
