12Z vs 3T hatch beneath ramp

I saw yellow do this recently in a couple vods... (one was vs TheMarine) and since then everyone has been doing it too... Seems kinda silly though, why do u do it when it can get tanked so easily

Because 12's ramp does not go through the natural, thus your expansion cannot defend your ramp.

I put it beneath the ramp but actually behind it, very north. This way is close to the gas and if you wait, the creep will go exactly until your exit. I quess yellow strat relies that he will harass the terran so much that he wont have any time to place his tanks there, but i am not sure that this is a good risk.

yellow does it because he is fucking gosu, he knows he is going to win anyways. Plus, it is hard to defend the tanks there. They can get picked off by mutas or 4-5 lurks parking underneath will destroy them. Its a waste trying to protect those tanks. Too much supply and money to throw down turrets/bunkers.

yellow is gosu, thats all.

yea i was wondering the same thing. its not too hard to defend their tank. and also, if they hatch there, theres 99% chance they are gettin a 3rd hatch at the expansion, which means slow tech. if the terran sees the hatch there, they can pressure early game (but dont go all out, so you have money to build a quick tank), make the zerg build defense, get a quick tank, bunker at your ramp, and keep your m&m army gaurding ur tank. im pretty sure you can get a tank shooting away a LOT faster than mutas or lurks. after youve taken out their sunkens, maybe even their hatchery, they should have tech and you can pull back to protect yourself from drops or muta harass. and pushing hard at the terrans ramp isnt the best idea if the terran gets fast tanks...

AT WCG/NEO LT you can place your hatch under your choke, and tanks won't reach it (I think :o).

good t will obviously not take the bait and will instead 2rax bay or 3 rax. given confirmed 3rd hat at exp, of course.

heh , tank > that hatch no matter how you put it, hatch below sucks , good t will go 1 or 2 tanks and simply push and play it out.
casper is wrong!

3 rax bay would suck ass in those positions because he can lay down as many sunks as he wants and rush to lurker drops.
