As you probably know, landing a terran building will destroy all interceptors that happen to be under it.
I wonder why no one ever does that?
For example, if 9 carriers are attacking 6 factories, it is actually possible to fend off the attack just by lifting/landing the factories. In this situation, you will lose about 3 facs but will kill all the interceptors from 9 carriers.

Lol so you would rather use building attack then make goliaths or prevent the toss from carriers in the first place? Not to mention decent players will just micro the carriers.

Dude you missed this theorycraft bandwagon, like, three years ago. This has long been patched.
Way cooler in my mind is the old swarm crushing trick, where landing buildings in dark swarm would make the swarm go away.

Obviously I mean the situation where toss abuses carriers' mobility to attack you main while your army is elsewhere. There is also no way to micro the interceptors, they always attack in the same pattern.

Was it really patched? I didn't test it myself, but a friend of mine told me that it still works. Hmm..
Edit: there is no mention of this in patch.txt, so I believe it was not patched. Maybe it is just banned in the league rules or something?
Theorycrafting it may be, but I thought about that while watching some game (can't remember which one exactly, but it was high enough level) where terran just let the carriers kill all his factories because it was too difficult to move the goliaths back. He could kill at least 50 interceptors by lifting and landing his facs just once. What is the reason not to do that?

If carriers move after attacking, the interceptors are still outside, just right behind them following so closely you can't really see them unless they turn. If you land a building right on the carrier when it is like this, it will kill all its interceptors in one swoop. Imagine if you could attack a protoss and know that they will send their carriers directly back to defend, and on the way land a barracks on them.
This could work, but carriers usually aren't stacked that tightly so I'd guess at best you would kill 3 carriers worth of interceptors. Also it assumes they don't just kill your barracks because they are in such hurry to get back to defend, although programers probably have the multitask to just kill it on the way.

Banned in some leagues/competitions/tournaments but not all of them if I remember correctly.

I swear to god somebody used it on Ride of Valk vs some protoss, that game was fucking epic, anyone?

ya i thought this was patches
and it was banned cuss a building that costs 125 minerals can crush massive amounts of interceptors which costs 25 mins a piece... this isn't war3, it's called TERRAN not NIGHT ELF. In SC, your buildings are not supposed to be able to attack! "outside of canons / turrets etc..."

meh it should be fairgame, imo. Some of these glitches are cool glitches so they should be allowed.
