I also believe with the current meta of 2.5 hatch muta vs terran, FS may be back to balanced

(circuit breaker ect..) bottom line: The best map (at the time) gets played so much that a) the pros figure it out and match ups get very defined b) it gets boring and repetetive over time what happened to every good map (at least good at the time) happens to Polypoid slowly as well.. but needless to say that Polypoid is cleary better than all those very popular maps before

The position of the high ground for the mineral only 3rd is sort of ideally placed in a way that can be used by both defenders and attackers, without having the absolute constriction that maps like Sniper Ridge suffered from (because there is a second way "out" on the low ground, and that also allows for a better arc on the low ground going up). Similarly, the gas bases at 3/6/9/12 are more open and less restricted compared to FS, and are more akin to something like CB in that regard. I feel like I will always be a huge FS fan because that is where I am most comfortable and played the most games during the most active part of my StarCraft "career", but I have to acknowledge that maps like Polypoid and Sylphid simply bring more to the table. That being said, player quality is more important for game quality than any of the above mentioned features, IMO.

Because on FS there is mostrly nothing that can happen. It is a macro map really easy to defend. So you can play what you can planned. Try to play as planned on HBR and you will die to whatever.
