why don't people 3hatch before pool anymore?
It gives zerg a small advantage against 1 rax fe and only proxy rax would defeat it, which would defeat a 12 hatch anyways.

Pinky on the A. A common thing is to 4a5a6a with index finger on the 456. 123 usually is harder because you have to use middle/ring finger on the 123.

Preference. Never ever take advice from people about this until you are maybe B+. It's always what is comfortable and you can perform easier with. I use ring because I have my pinkey on shift for fast deselects and I can quickly slide it to ctrl to form control groups. But that's because it's what I AM comfortable with. Do what feels best to you.

The results are a bit more subtle than this. A terran that scouts a 3hatch knows he's safe from lings for a bit, which can mean faster academy and ebay, and skimping on defense. This puts his pre-muta push (or pre-lurker push) earlier and with more upgrades. The result is a zerg who has a better economy but slightly less capability for defense, unless he invests heavily in sunkens. This might offset the initial economic advantage.

So, as always, it's a tradeoff. If T doesn't scout zerg's 3hatch soon enough, then zerg gets away with it before terran capitalize.

its not true. 1 rax fe can also defeat it if he decides to bunker rush you. 3 hatch before pool is incredibly risky. even going 12 pool rather than 11 makes a huge difference against a forward rax.

and going 3 hatch before pool gives you a head start for your larvae count and how many more drones you can make with the capability of switching to more lings if you need to, giving you the privilege of not spending drones on sunkens. regardless, you will still have to know how to spend larvae correctly.

No, you don't bunker rush it when Z 3hat before pool unless you want to lose or Z is just bad/doesn't know how to handle it. See Flash vs Jaedong on Zodiac for just why Flash hasn't since tried to bunker rush in that situation. (One of the Sea vs Killer games on Bloody Ridge also shows why albeit the opening was atypical.) If you drone scout instead of with ovie like in this game then you are perfectly free to do it (or pool at 13) if you see nothing suspicious or already have read that T will rax cc.

It's the zerg version of when Terran makes depot, scouts and just double CC's if they see 12hat.

therockmanxx: it completely depends on your followup, but in general yes. Terran will have quite a few more SCVs, so in the very short-term he'll be ahead in economy, but your fast expo will help you catch up quickly. Terran will also be stuck with a very small army (since he went for eco build over extra raxes or facts, added to the fact that since you got his CC, it means you killed his rines for the most part), which means that..he's basically got nothing except a lot of SCVs in his main. Not very useful in the short term.

This means that you either 1) can econ like crazy, expand again, and drone up to get a econ boost, or 2) tech powerup fast and early. If he's any good, he'll know which of the two you're doing.

Whats the game where Flash loses his main and wins game?

I don't really remember, I think he started using bio and sets up his factories in another main base. He ends up losing his main, and turtles up at his other base with factories. Flash ends up winning the game.

Thanks.

I'm not sure which game you're talking about, but Flash vs Fantasy on Triathlon comes to mind.

Try Liquipedia, Protoss strategy, it's a bit outdated, but enough to start playing on ICCup. Come in op teamliquid at the right time and ask for help too =)

Alright, so I'm completely fresh to this game. I just came bac to SC2 after a break of half a year or something like that, and decided to try BW out, since I've heard so much good things about it(plus I really love the graphics). I just have no clue where to begin. I just played my first game on iCCup, and(as expected) got completely demolished. So what I'm wondering is:

1. I think I'm gonna be playing Zerg like I did in SC2, so I'd like tips on some noob-friendly builds to use in each matchup.
Also, I kinda have the impression that Zerg has the potential to be more agressive in BW than in SC2. Is this correct?

2. Do you think that I should try to play online, or would it be better for me to simply practice a couple of builds in single player before I try my luck vs human opponents?

Also, if anyone would be willing to take the time to play a bunch of games against me that would be fun too!

I'm plat in SC2 btw.
)

EDIT:

Also, do iCCup update stats automaticly or do I need to upload replays or something along those lines?
None.

1. Yeah it is correct I think. People always make the distinction between management zerg (à la sAviOr) et agressive zerg (à la July). Whatever is the choice you make, you won't be able to drone as much. Zerg in bw expands more and does not saturate its base. Also as there is no queens, you need to build more hatches (larvae are more scarce).
For builds, go on liquipedia I guess :
ZvT : 3 hatch muta is the standard, but 3 hatch lurker is probably easier to execute
ZvP : 3 hatch muta into 5 hatch hydra is my advice
ZvZ : any of the classic openings I guess (9/12 pool, 12 hatch). It's a pretty strange match up, you only build lings and then mutas, and stay very low eco.
Watch a few vods of each match up to have an idea of the game flow would be a good idea.

2. I think it would be good to practice some builds yeah, as to have some timing down and you get more familiar with hotkeys etc... It can be a bit boring and lonely though, so don't hesitate to play online sometimes too.
And yeah definitely, come to the channel "op teamliquid" (type "/j opteamliquid"), at the right hour you'll find some people to help you. Lots of idler though (hellooo LRM)noone)^^

Yes it's automated. For the game to count on ladder it must be played in 1 on 1 mode (or top vs bottom for 2v2), on an official iccup map at fastest speed.
Enjoy, shoot me a pm if you have any further question.

Thank you for the excellent reply! Didn't expect to get an answer so quickly. I'll look into those builds, and definitely join the TL-Channel!
