Hwaseung Oz's ToSky Decides to Retire
"He plans on joining the army after he retires"

Hwaseung Oz’s senior player (Z)ToSky has made the shocking decision to retire.

Tosky debuted in 2005 on the earlier team of Hwaseung, Plus and though he was never able to grab any titles, as one of the team’s senior players, he has made a huge difference for the team up until now.

Tosky, who was a progamer for 5 years, was unfortunately unable to accomplish any significant results to garner attention and after being in a continual slump, made the decision to retire, revealing his plans to take a short break afterwards before enlisting into the army.

Hwaseung’s Coach JoJungOong stated, “We’ve debated a lot about his possible retirement and ultimately, I decided to respect his decision” and “We also thought about him becoming a coach but decided to discuss it more after he has finished his time in the army. After he has finished his service there, I will actively help him decide what he wants to do next”, revealing his disappointed feelings on Tosky’s retirement.

Tosky who has decided on retirement stated, “Not being able to deliver results for such a long time ultimately lead to a decrease in interest for the game” as his reason for retirement and added, “At first Coach Jo was completely against my plans but he eventually decided to respect my decision. There was also talk about becoming a coach but I’ll make my final decision on that after we discuss it further after my service in the army”.

Tosky continued on saying, “My teammates were also very upset but because I can still personally see them for a while, I hope they won’t be too sad” and encouraged his team by saying “I hope Hwaseung will continue to show great performances”. He then said, “I knew once I retired a lot of weight would fall on Dongrae’s shoulders so I was so sorry” and continued “I hope he continues to wholly fulfill his role as captain of the team and lead them forward”, revealing his apologetic feelings.

Tosky added, “My younger brother (Z)Calm was very much against my decision but now he’s come to understand me” and “I hope my brother who has qualified in the MSL does well and that Hwaseung is able to win the proleague”, cheering for both his brother and team.

Lastly, Tosky said “Though I haven’t performed well for such a long time, I want to thank the fans who cheered for me regardless. I have nothing but sorry feelings for leaving like this but I promise when I return I will show a much better image of me”, sending his last greeting to his fans.

Hwaseung revealed they will hold a farewell party for Tosky on the 13th, when they have their last game of the season.

Hope he serves well and comes back as a coach in the future~

Please let me know if you spot mistakes/feedback is greatly appreciated!

pretty sad though, iirc, he was hyped up to be the next big zerg for lecaf in 2006, but unfortunately a man called jaedong came.

Damn I never knew ToSky and Calm were brothers

Sorry to see him go. I remember right after he won against Canata 2-0 in GOM TV that he actually had the #2 highest ZvT ELO in the world (behind Jaedong) simply becuase he didnt play any other games, haha.

Too bad he didnt use his brotherly influence to bring Calm over to Hwaseung

Wtf ToSky and Calm were brothers? Didn't know about that...

Kinda sad to see old players like him who never get to play in Proleague and end up just fading off.

Good job on the translation

Didn't know that as well. ToSky? Wasn't he part of [S.G] team @ USWest? He played pretty good but was always an average progamer.

Best of luck you to ToSky!

Not all progamers can be league winners. Just being part of OZ is a contribution and an achievement already. Good luck with military service ToSky!

It must be hard to be a oz zerg. Because of the 3 races rule in proleague and given Jaedong is always playing, it's almost impossible for them to play. This must leed to a lack of motivation, and without motivation there is no way they will work harder, make progress .....and play a proleague match. And being stomped by jaedong all the day doesn't help.
Calm has been luckier in Soul, with great teamate to train with and way more occasions to play in proleague, he became a true monster.

By the time he finishes his military service sc2 will probably be out, so there's not much luck for him being a bw coach, and I dunno if you can go from being a bw progamer to a sc2 coach in a heartbeat.

I believe Calm said thank you to ToSky for helping him practice in an interview once and he said "thanks to my brother Jung Hwan" ... Maybe that wasn't translated since it happened quite a while ago.

It's a pity that JD was too good to allow for any depth in the Oz lineup. ToSky probably got tired of getting manhandled in zvz practice.

it would be nice to see him in ACE, especially if he takes a break first and gets some interest back. doing badly and losing interest because of it is a horrible downward spiral to be in, props to him for doing what he has to do to get himself out of it.

It's pretty sad because I too was interested in Tosky's high ZvT ELO and wanted to see some of that old level but I saw it coming after Gom S2.

I wonder what ToSky's career would have been like if he hadn't been so overshadowed by Jaedong's rise and success.

Ummmmm no? I'm pretty sure there was even a question in an interview where they asked one of the "Shin trio" (hyvaa, UpMagiC, and SangHo) if any of them were related, and they answered no.

Show some respect you low post count e-peen braggers. Not many people in the world hold a progaming license. Every "average progamer" is in the top few % echelon of elite Brood War players.

If you don't have anything more to add than that to the topic, spare the keystrokes and don't post.
Complete the cycle!
