UAC is also less intrusive. It does not actually freeze your system like it would in Vista (if you would play audio/video and UAC would come up, it would lag and try to catch up all at once turning into a not so pleasurable sensual experience). If you already run SC windowed, you do not have to worry about SC when upgrading (and you really should upgrade to W7). What is working for me most of the time is to just close/minimize as many programs as possible. It still occurs but is not as sudden/definitely not a real fix.

Eh, tbh I have no idea what the fuss about the Win7 color problem is about. True, when you run SC without killing explorer you get messed up colors, but when you join a game the colors are 99% fine. Sometimes, I noticed that water on a twilight map will have messed up colors.

One of the most simple benefits is slightly (or greatly, depends on the system of course) reduced start up times. Which in my case matters a lot. Again, there are other improvements as well (greater data transfer rates, etc.). I haven't tried windows 7 myself yet, but I am skeptical of this claim. If you do a clean install of windows xp on the same machine, does it boot slower than windows 7? I have previously downgraded an xp system to windows 98 and I actually achieved lift off.

For example the start menu in Vista/7 is so much better it's not even funny. I'm using 7 and it's really great. I haven't had any trouble with compatibility beyond the stuff that wouldn't work in Vista either... All that really chaps my hide is the SC issues and Age of Mythology, which won't run at all ![]()

Now when you wish to play start SC by clicking the file you created, it kills explorer until you stop playing. You can also create a shortcut of the file and make it look like SC so it looks prettier. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why do you have a Launcher file? Unless that is chaoslauncher?

The only difference is what sort of crazy colors I see outside of games, in games it's always fine. yeah for the first few months of owning 7 I thought this as I was not getting any freezes under Windows 7 at all. But within the past month I've had it happen like five times, which is too much for me. Now I run a dualboot setup with XP and 7.
