Silently working… A heart broken from effort without reward… Finally…a dream fulfilled Hyvaa, tearful as always Accepted the interview
When I see Hyvaa’s tears I can feel it…the effort poured into practice Tears from reaping the reward of hardwork are sweet and beautiful. I shed a few tears with him.
Even though the team is considered weak, They still try. They work and pour effort into their role. For this, we applaud and encourage them.
It’s not just a simple multiple-win, The excited tears are proof: The victory means very much.
Known for not expressing his feelings in words… The famously quiet Hyvaa… His struggle has been apparent from the very start.
Guilt-ridden, believing himself To be responsible for his teams continuous losses, The always struggling Hyvaa.
One win from success… But victory slipped through his fingers. Hyvaa, shedding tears for his losses.
Hyvaa: A few days ago, my mom learned how to text. Every time the team has a game, my mom would text me to cheer me on. Today, after the game, my mom texted me… I could tell that she was very happy… I brought my mom happiness with my hard work… This was a very proud, happy moment for me. I love you, mom! ^^
---------------
Hyvaa – I just feel very happy!”
It’s because of me that my team loses a lot. I’m sorry.
Thoughts after getting a 3K? -I’m very happy about my win, so I’m very happy right now [laugh]
After the win, I saw you crying -I suddenly started crying, because I remembered a lot of recent sad events… It’s because of me that my team loses a lot. I’m sorry.
What were you thinking when you were sent out while your team was behind? -To be honest…going into the game, I didn’t think I could win. I remembered losing to Calm before…so I told myself to go in with the thought “I can’t lose anymore.”
You finally completed your Multi-Kill after game 7 -For today’s game, I practiced in order to snipe Kal. I thought that the last one out would be Kal…I didn’t prepare a lot against Terran, and I didn’t practice Andromeda a lot. But I like the map, and often practiced on it before…Before the game, I asked Really hyung how I should play, and he told me, choose your favorite method, so I prepared a management-based macro strategy.
You are displaying impressive results in the current format -To be honest, every time I arrive at the live stage, I find it hard to adjust. But after winning one game, I feel warmed up, and I get in the zone…and I start to treat it like practice.
You faced July on game 6 -I didn’t expected July, it surprised me…I thought it would’ve been Kal or Hwasin. I remembered losing last time I played July, so I decided I must win against him this time, so I discussed what strategy to use with my team [laugh]
Are you going to continue with this dominance? -Because I’m more experienced now, I’m not as nervous anymore. From now on, as long as I continue to prepare, it should be good. So I will practice even harder from now on.
You seem like an ace player for eSTRO -I don’t personally believe there are any ace players on my team, because everyone’s very good. Realistically, compared to other teams, we have a lot to work on, so the team will work hard to improve. To be honest, when it comes to practice, all players are the same. Our team is no exception, we practice long and hard too. As long as we can play like we do in practice, we won’t lose easily. But we are still lacking in experience in these live games.
Last thoughts? -I practiced a lot in preparation for playing against Protoss, so I want to say thank you to all my Protoss teammates who practiced with me. But because I didn’t play against any Protoss players, I feel kind of bad [laugh] My seniors in the team helped me prepare against Zerg, it’s thanks to them that my recent results have been good. Today, it was Really hyung who helped me prepare, thank you very much. And also, because I like management-based Zerg style, my coaches also gave me a lot of helpful suggestions, thank you. Lastly, I’d like to say thank you to my mom, who has always supported and cared for me. I love you!
hyvaa always had style - he used ensnare vs Terran even before JD - but just needed time and experience to refine his skill. Now that it looks like things have clicked it looks like he could be another good young Zerg in the line of EffOrt/ZerO/by.hero. What can I say, I'm a bit of a fan after reading this interview - I'll definitely be following hyvaa.
I watched the ace match live, it was fucking emotional having your team saved like that. Well done hyvaa! Everybody should watch the game vs Hwasin as it was one of the best I've seen recently. And many thanks for the interview, it's great! (I was waiting for this btw :p)
I think it's still pretty early to tell. We've seen so many flukey players that he may eventually slump. His interviews seem siliar to other programers, so this shouldn't really get your hopes up imo. His words will have more meaning when he is consistently rolling. His current performance may just be an era. Nonetheless if he does actually turns into a very good player, I'll refer back to this.
hyvaa is so lovable, even for a non-Zerg fan like myself. You have to love how this guy has been playing lately.

He's pretty consistently rolling NOW...I mean ffs 9-1 in his last 10? That's pretty sick.
And no, I have never watched/read/seen an interview with any other progamer who cried before the interview...making this one not at all "siliar to other programers".

That's just what a young up and coming player needs to solidify his confidence. It was really great to see live, almost all the games in that matchup were worth watching.
How can you NOT love this kid? I'm glad he's finally starting to get some consistency in his game but come on guy, give yourself a break! Losing mostly to players like flash, bisu, leta, and jaedong in the past 20 games ain't so bad! I only hope Hyvaa gains some more confidence, he's seems easily shakeable and fragile at this moment. But he's certainly one of the zerg hopes for the future.
