You bumped because noone posted in 5 hours.. seriously???
Anyway, I wont try this until this weekend so no feedback for now. I guess others are busy as well.

Thanks for the post. I dl'ed but haven't tried it yet. On this new comp I don't have any old replays to test on.
|
Haven;t tried it, same question as the guy above me... Does it work for iccup?
|
I just successfully watched a TvZ replay from version 1.13, Niceee!

In BWChart (link here) you can check the version of the replay on the main screen.
The only problem is that after 1.14 it gets a little..well..it's usually wrong :p
Anything up until 1.14 is identified correctly, but the program is too old to recognize any 1.15/1.16 incarnations and labels then as 1.13/1.14. For those you'll just have to guess I suppose, but for your old BoxeR replays it should work fine.
January 2006 is probably 1.14ish if my memory serves me right?

Yeah that's a result of inactivity. I now rely on strategical brilliance rather than boring ol' macro to win games!
Oh, and yes..yes you may.

Okay~ someday~
We need to play btw... even though Im not as good as I used to be anymore cuz of new table set up , mouse problems etc...
should be fun.. can u play in like 1 hr?

thanks guys. and it was 1.13f.... yes, almost 1.14 great :D

After using this program, I developed a program that forced me to reinstall. However, I can't connect to bnet anymore! I keep getting the error message: "Battle.net was unable to properly identify your application version".
I cleaned out everything sc-related in my registry, restarted, and reinstalled many times. Still no dice. Any suggestions?
|
um im encountering the same sort of problem. a little different. i cant play single player, i went to play and it told me i was missing some file. I also get no music. im on my second reinstall now, much to my surprise the first didnt fix the problem.
ill clean the starcraft registry stuff too, good idea. ill let you know how it turns out.
(some time later)
damn. uninstall, clean everything to do with starcraft off my computer. even this version changer. shut down- restart. reinstall, by actually running the Setup.exe off the disks. also, right clicking and running everything as administrator. i was able do download my update from Bnet to 1.16. as soon as it restarts in 1.16, no sound again!!! i was like "DOH!" sure enough, i can put in my single player name, but when i actually go to play... it boots me out and says it cant find this file: "glue\palcs\backgrnd.pcx" and if the problem persists, to reinstall.
|
okay. even worse now. even though a lot of the problems we are having (im also having the "cant connect to battle.net" problem now)... are similar to ones that people are having from 1.16, Im pretty sure thats not the cause of it. my wife has an identical computer to mine, and had 1.15.2
after updating hers to 1.16, it has none of the same problems. plays everything fine.
k now here is the worse part. on my computer i did a total system restore to about 3 days ago. and after multiple restarts, uninstalls, reinstalls, system restorations, i cant get past those screens to either Bnet or 1 player games. also tried different patches. 1.15.3 etc on my comp. no dice.
this is really really pissing me off now.
|
bookmarked.
There are a lot of retards around here asking how change patch versions.
|
ummm... i do not recommend this program. if you want to watch replays under a different patch. its a bit more labor intensive but do this: uninstall starcraft. reinstall it and then just patch it to the one you want to watch replays with/or just play on. then you can patch to the most recent when you are done.
this program, as far as i can tell, messes stuff up. i cant believe more people havent encountered problems. post if you do plz.
|
Just in case anyone else has the same issue, I fixed my problem with a system restore to a week ago

If you just want to watch replays using old executables is enough. You only need to downpatch for some old plugins like the ICCup antihack.
|
kk solution for my problem: 1) uninstall SC/BW 2) re installed in a different folder ( \program files\SCbroodwar ) 3) unistalled that version (which was working slightly better) 4) went into the registry and searched for more "starcraft". i found about 3 files i was comfortable deleting. 5) re installed in the default folder, and it works.
i have no idea how or why it works now, but something did it. starcraft is working and that is all that matters I wouldnt wish this problem on my worst enemy. glad that is over :D

would this be good for ICC? as apparently i need bw version 1.15 to play on icc and 1.16 to play on bw so i can use this to switch between the two versions with ease?

Hi StarCraft players & fans, I'm the creator of SCV Selector, thanks for using it and very sorry to any problems it has made.
Yes in previous versions of SCV Selector there's a bug with NoCD option, it may cause you can not play Single Player game or/and lost background music in Multiplayer game, this bug has been fixed in Build 2008.12.10. If you still in the trouble of this bug, just do the following steps and you'll get back the fun from the game.
1. Delete Install.exe, BroodWar.mpq, StarCraft.mpq from your StarCraft installation folder. 2. Copy Install.exe from StarCraft install CD to your StarCraft installation folder, and rename it to BroodWar.mpq. 3. Copy Install.exe from StarCraft: BroodWar install CD to your StarCraft installation folder, and rename it to StarCraft.mpq. 4. Download the latest version of SCV Selector(http://www.rainux.org/scv-selector/, search "Download", and choose the links under DreamHost), run it make "Express Mode" unchecked so that you can make sure SCV Selector will install files to the StarCraft installation folder you expected.

To MasterReY: Thanks for recommend SCV Selector, the latest version of SCV Selector have multiple language support, so you can read the help text for options such as "Express Mode", "NoCD", "RegFix" in English, just move your moue cursor on to the options. And, please do not direct link to the download file, because direct link can not lead to the latest version.
To jhNz: The goal of SCV Selector is to keep StarCraft installation folder clean & official. All the files installed by SCV Selector is exact same with the files installed by official patch from Blizzard. So if you can play on iccup or any other place with official patch, you also can do this with SCV Selector. The only things may trouble you is the simplest NoCD patch for versions before 1.15.2, if this happened, just do not use it by uncheck the NoCD option. You can read the help text of NoCD option for details.

my god this is so great. i have to use 1.13f to play on VS in china

cpt.beefy? what the fuck are you talking about?
i hate people who come here and claim that something is crap without giving any hint why they think that. Moreover every says the program is well.
So Cpt.beefy, give some arguments or get out of here. srsly
(IF you were refering to cursor: Its clearly proven that it was some other mistake on his computer OR the bug with the NoCD fix.
In the OP i clearly stated:
Uncheck NoCD and Express Mode to be safe. I don't exactly know what express mode is, but well i uncheck it and its always fine.
