Stork had almost only hate from TL until the last week or so. Fantasy however has been getting love and hype all along.

Omg, finally. I thought Mind was going to be #6 like forever. His MSL win was like centuries ago, and he has done nothing worth mentioning since then. I still don't get how he has been up there for so long with poor individual league performance and limited PL playtime.
It's time for protoss domination era!

Pity for JD that he won GOM back when it wasn't kespa sanctioned..But anyway I think Stork will soon be #1 and deservedly so, this guy has probably had the highest winning % from 07 to now. At least in PL in 07-08, he was like 1 or 2% ahead of JD and at #1.

Because his one loss was to a player better than any of his wins, but not good enough for the point change to be insignificant. The only person he beat that was close to him in ranking was Midas.

for like what 16 months? iloveoov is generally recognized as the fastest rising player and most dominant in his prime
if you want consistency, go for nada

It is impossible to tell if oov would've been inconsistent or not. He retired when he saw himself going into a self-motived slump.

its hard for a non-top30 ranked zerg to be a part of your "FAVORITE TEAM" you know.
so under normal circumstances, your favorites would be in the top of the ranks. you wouldnt take a 100+ ranked player to be one of your favorite player right... UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES

stork will be no.1 next month as his OSL win is not counted. Both him and fantasy rise by almost the same no. of points, so Stork OSL win was never counted.

U can't compare the past and present. In the early years there are little protoss and zerg powerhouses and some of the strats are not uncovered yet. Oov and nada dominated because they pioneered the macro game. Now everyone in top 30 KeSPA can macro and micro like them in the past. Definitely sc has become much more competitive. No one will stay long at No.1, the longest will be only 3 months due to OSL/MSL win.
|
Is parity good for professional sports? Check out the Phillies vs Rays ratings. Love them or hate them (please hate them), the Yankees in the World Series would've boosted those ratings significantly. The Lakers in the finals last season made that series infintely more interesting than a Celtics vs Hornets finals except to maybe a basketball purist. And the NY Giants beating the undefeated (at the time) cheaters New England Patriots made that superbowl great. Sports needs heroes and villains because that's what fans like to see. I think SC is slowly losing that with one hit wonder starleague winners like Forgg and Mind (although I love Mind for what he did) and JD and Flash getting cheesed out of starleagues. And they are getting cheesed because there is so much parity that depending on map and positions, even the top players cannot afford to play too safe and that leaves them vulnerable to cheese. Stork winning the OSL is a good thing for SC.
|
Parity is good for organisers and money. More players will have chance to win against established players and that create more sponsership and profits. Due to the counter for every strat in sc, this will occur. No strat is safe to win forever. In order to dominate, they need variety and all-round play which Stork demonstrates. Despite protoss being the weakest race who are forced to be aggressive, he still can be so consistent in it.
Its not like Federer/Nadal in tennis where 1 style dominates all.

Look at savior or bisu, they were reliant on 1 build to win their titles and gone very fast because people are countering it.

The reason why they were so dominant was because they innovated. Yes, oov at least had the past strength of outmacroing his opponents, but boxer has continually come back by innovating and changing the way sc bw is played again and again.
Why are people afraid of boxer, enthralled by boxer, love boxer, and watch every single one of his games? Because they expect him to innovate again, and show the world yet another strat that will lead to Terran domination.
Because they haven shown in the past to be innovative, it's hard to say that they are over rated. Same with flash- he found an innovation, executed better than everyone else, and rose to dominance until people figured out how to beat him (sometimes).
