Woot 4 responses above me a total 1/2 of them are from people who log in to enjoy TL.attack. That alone shows its success.
PS I can't wait.

I'll probably watch this live. I don't think I'm good or creative enough to try to participate yet, but maybe in the future.

Not sure if you understood or not, but i didn't mean the actual videos but how they stopped using them after a while. But i guess thats something you cant control anyway, with the problems with ppl joining games slow/DL maps etc etc.
Just imagine what this could be like in a small studo similiar to the existing B.net attack, it would be out of control, especially with the live stream from the players view(computer) so you see his movements just like an FPVOD.
Hopefully Starcraft 2 can bring the sponsors and intrest to make this happen. Would be awesome.
Looking forward to the next episode.

It never happened. I can't believe TL stands by such an immoral character that would back off. He even agreed to it but never showed up. I was gonna ask for pix too as there's no way anyone on teh bnet can be white.

A better player woulda expanded more! I was gonna get the island, but I never knew where my shuttles were. I know I built them but I couldn't find them. I didn't have that many probes in either of my right bases for the longest time. But let's not read too much into this, he's not a T player, but he DID say his TvP was around B- level. Yay!
|
Any links for TLAttackE1 and TLAttackE2?
Did anyone post results? I only saw the first few games and then I had to leave to eat.

I love Xiaozi. That and we are both chinese. ;p
Too bad that last game turned out to be depressing for him a bit. I think that he should feel fine that he did very well and showed us some great games. So don't feel bad Xiaozi!
EDIT: Thanks Kennigit! Ima watch these VoDs till my eyes fall off...

Haha yeah when he's doing bad it's apparent in his voice. It happened in the first game too but he pulled that out of the fiiiiiiire.

yeah Tim was really, really nice. we had to coax him to trash talk people, and even then he was always respectful and didn't say anything insulting. was a very fun, lighthearted experience.
plus his style is amazingly fun to observe and hard to execute.
|
I loved the wraith, overlord, and barracks lifting sounds he made haha. The games were great and very entertaining.
Thanks to the staff and guest players for making TL attack!
|
Best quote from IRC:
<drain> is there a cast or something? or why is everyone acting like an idiot ;O?
|
I enjoyed the show. Nice commentators and a great player. Thanks to everybody who makes this possible.
The only thing I wished is that there would have been a second game between Xiaozi and Sushi.
I mean he was with Terran good too but the difference to his main was obvious and it seemed to me he tried something unorthodox with setting mines everywhere over the middle and trying to kill the obs with wraiths. So I can understand when it was a bit disappointing to him at the end.
Generally in my opinion I would say when that many people in irc and channel are recommending the opponent to be a good player he deserves the chance to play vs the main race of the guest without must have specials or new crazy things.

The show was great, watched it for the first time. The commentators did an amazing job, the stream quality was impeccable, I was even able to play CS 1.6 while watching it.
|
I love his unorthodox builds; very entertaining to watch.
And personally, I think tl attack should scrap the current team melee team. yes, theyre good - too good, really. it would be more fun watching our pro slaughter a less cohesive team than one thats already got their thing down. Or at least thatll allow for another 1;1. then again, i guess the argument for keeping them is to see the pro play at their highest levels (despite the stream and bnet lag)
|

i thought the team melee idea was really great i've always wanted to see that in action team of 2 or 3 vs a really pro person (would be even crazier vs a prokorean lol O_O)
anyways good job chill hotbidkennegit rich all of tl staff involved <3
i thought the commentating was a bit bland sometimes though haha ~_~

Yes, loved to see the team melee thing, with that particular team, very good show there.
I also loved the no-lag stream, and commentatos were perfect.

Id like to say it wasnt jf, since there were a few errors that costed him that game, but then again, xiaozi did open with 3hatch mutas, which probably surprised everyone

The hotkeys seem to match up too, but I have no idea what I'm doing with that (I just do it by sight )

best episode so far - thx 4 the show teamliquid and XiaoZi pew pew

Xiaozi seems really mannered. I really liked his modest demeanor. After watching some other foreign events, I was really disappointed in the horrible attitudes of some of the participants. Xiaozi definitely gained fans with his nice and mannered showing.

It's the best part, it gives the pro a real challenge with their main race and an actual chance to lose.
|
Braavos36374 Posts
i think the team melee gives a nice (albeit unrealistic) blueprint of how to beat a top foreigner
all you have to do is create on team melee, and right before you go sneak in two of your friends on your team, sneak in an observer on his team, have the observer broadcast to a live stream so you can see what he's doing, and hope he doesn't notice all this
|
XiaoZi is such a nice guy. I like the smashtalk that goes around, but it is refreshing to see/hear someone behave like that.

random question was Xiaozi part of the )is( clan before?
|
The team melee matches just gives such an unfair advantage that its not even funny to watch, it just gets out of control in mid/lategame with all the macro going on.
I suggest aiming for finding better players so people can see and learn from a fair 1v1 instead of watching a pro player getting slaughtered by a melee team. Good entertainment value - sure for some, but not for ppl who are intrested in real games and learning from pros.

Hey, NonY raped a team melee team on his episode. It's not entirely impossible
|
And rofl at RaGe who was in that team melee, "I will not have a part of this." hahahah
|
Im fine with the rag-tag TM teams cuz those can be funny and/or good, but with the seasoned team, its just a matter of how long the pro can hold on til he gets run over.

I think it's a shame they play so standard. I think it would be cooler if they played less standard and try to get a strategical win, because like you said outmacro'ing/outmicroing is hard ofcourse.
I think it has nice prospects if the pros start realizing they're playing vs a macro machine and they need to use their ingenuity and experience.
Then again I'm biased in this discussion
edit: And I don't get why you prefer seeing newbbashes over a good player losing against a team melee team. Then again, if they can raise the level of participants, I can see your point.

i'm surprised so many people don't like the team melee thing, when i watch it later i always think the quality of the games are pretty good and it's interesting to see a pro actually lose. there are very few people who can beat tlattack guests 1v1 and playing team melee vs them gives a situation where whether or not they will win is actually debatable.

Double or nothing on Dreiven?
|
Team melee is only fair when the apm of the pro is the total apm of the opponents combined.
|
Team melee is damn fun, but a bit imbalanced later on. I say they stop at 200/200 food and don't go on? Then that leaves 3 people for micro though XD
Oh ya, Xiaozi is fucking awesome. So mannered and gives the crowd what they want. "Make the sound of a barracks landing." "Okay." Lifts CC LOL. Lifting the CC instead of a fact or something was the best.
|

For first double would be a good compromise. Maybe it makes the game more closer and would be interesting at all to see one time the difference between 2 and 3 players of the current team.

I love the show and the intro is very professional my only criticism is that i wish Chill could cut down on dissing the play of the opponents. Sometimes they are noobs and i have no issue with saying this but often you call them noobs for not really being noobs and this i disapprove of utterly. For example in the ZvZ XiaoZi played completely nonstandard and it was great but you kept on calling the other guy a noob for doing a standard ZvZ build that even the pros use. He failed to adjust his play and so on sure but he was too far behind imo for it to matter anyway. Hot_Bid often was often forced to defend the play of those you are relentlessly blasted i would appreciate this if you could be more selective in insults in the future.

Its all in good fun. Friendly trash talking is encourage I don't think they mean any harm.
