I also much prefer to see some new maps integrated into our community simply because I don’t think a few ASL mappers should control the overall maps for bw.

The ideal mappool wil be a mix of classics + few ladder maps and maybe 1 foreigner map if it is good. It is very rare that a foreigner map is good. I cant recall anything else apart from Overwatch. Your map champion for example didnt even have proper minerals lines. Workers all bugged . And the thing is when you report things to foreigner mapmakers they dont even care to fix or maybe they dont know how to. Historically is just a not try. But if the map is good and works good i dont see any reason to no try it. The last ASL mappool was one of the best imo. Cant say the same about the new ASL.

Maps don't have to follow ASL/ladder, but if the better Korean players play those maps... and those Korean players give our foreigners the practice they need...

for instance CPL is the most interesting to be in if you re not super high level, for learning and socialising reasons. NSL and CSL are also pretty chill. BWCL is more for the honour of your clan and playing with clanmates, BSL (imo) is more about watching the absolute best foreigners duke it out, but playing in it by itself isnt as great if you re not S rank. Nation Wars are always cool because it sorta mixes a bit of everything said above in one setting, also it s rare. if you mean interested in watching then it d be ASL>Proleagues>>>>>>(distant) Nation Wars >>> (more distant) CPL/BSL/BWCL/NSL : relative order depending on whether i know the players being cast or not, watching Mihu vs dewalt 24/7 isnt the best but once in a while it s good, watching Bonyth is always great though (no offense to Dewalt, he is also great but it feels a bit like groundhog day sometimes) EDIT: now a TSL would be high on the list to watch *wink wink*

I really enjoy the BW scene. I am always happy to discover it's active, for foreigners and everyone. I did tune into the foreigner allstar team versus midcard koreans series last year or the year before. And foreigners lost what, like 31 matches? None of them were truly close in my recollection, though a few victories did come swiftly as the result of mindgame and luck. The one match foreigners won was off a successful scout of a center-proxied double 8 rax in TvP iirc; Even that took 14-18 minutes for the protoss to close out successfully. It was really fun to be rooting for team Korea in that instance lol

As a spectator I'm not too interested in watching any foreign tournaments outside of BSL (or TSL?!). As a player I'd probably enjoy enrolling in anything available if I was playing regularly.

Used to watch Artosis' stream quite a bit in the past. That was pretty enjoyable at times, esp when he had events and stuff (like the foreign pros vs Koreans mentioned above). It's a shame it has become what it has become. Anyway, let's not talk about that here.

On topic : I always thought Team Liquid would organise something for the launcher of remastered. Now we're 7 years later, and while BW is very much alive in Korea and thriving, the foreign scene has been barren besides BSL. Pretty cool though that there's 2 lans being organised in NA, and there's a big tour in peru too. The time to organise things was in 2017 with the launch, when a lot of guys came back to the game, and activity was high. Better late than never, though ![]()

I don't get AF about nationality I just want to watch the best games. If foreigners were integrated into the same scene as koreans and playing on their level that would be awesome but unfortunately that's not the case and probably never will be. edit - maybe as the kespa-era players retire and a more amateur-tier rank of players replace them (and the scene doesn't die out) in like 5-10 years, foreigners who keep up their skills will probably be a lot more on their level. But foreigners (and seemingly all amateur koreans as well) can't touch the top 20-30 players in korea that play in proleague/kleague/ASL. All of whom except for like 3 or 4 were former kespa players I think.

For me the foreign scene is more of an amateur league and I have never really watched it. In general I just watch the top leagues and that's the same with every sport. Also the foreign tournaments are nowhere close to ASL in terms of production value, prize money, casters, and having the matches offline which is a must for me. Without a high budget and community demand this is going to be impossible to achieve, and the scene isn't that big unfortunately. However I did love the WCG tournaments if those count.

On the other hand, I watch every single ASL game (minus TvT's), Korean pro streams, Artosis and Tasteless casts of pro's ladder games, etc. Korean SC is just so much better imo. It's like how I'm into pro sports but can't watch college. It's such a different level, I can't really get into it.

Laggy matchups against players who don't interact with the scene, who have their own active full-time scene and sponsors (which mostly refuses entry to foreign players btw), and is now jumping in to grab a piece of the already tiny foreigner prize pool? Less interesting. (See the last few years of foreign BW events) Then I'd rather spend my time watching ASL or Proleague.

Even with the Korean scene, it’s more fun to watch games when you have a favorite team or player. Proleague was fun to watch for rivalries like KT/SKT, or to root for underdogs like Air Force Ace, etc. Without a narrative it’s hard to care about random one-off games unless they are exceptional… I haven’t discovered a compelling narrative in the foreign scene other than TSL/TSL2 and Idra/Nony in Korea trying to pass courage. If I found one maybe I would change my vote.

BWCL is great for some team games and stuff. CPL is fun to still have newcomers or people with lower skills involved but casts are mostly not the most interesting as the game and cast quality is at a lower level, still good to have though. Are you planning something? As all people said, gogo TSL, they were a blast. Also sometimes good 2v2 competitions would be nice. Interested in all StraCraft events, as long as they are well done. Non KR can be as good as others, but mostly organization or casts are not on the same level.
