It's great for viewers to have 3 (or more?) options based on preference. Kind of like US network coverage vs Sky Sports coverage for some sports, or maybe even Manningcast.

Watching "ASL English" afreeca stream / vod exclusively since they started as it currently fits my preferences best, but I can see myself bouncing back and forth, or even watching the same games multiple times on each option. In fact I recall watching both the Korean stream and the Tastosis stream during a previous ASL.

When live I watch Korean, then I might look quickly for important moments at Scan & Nyoken VOD and afterwards when VOD is up I watch Tastosis.

I tend to watch on youtube's starcast channel, usually a few days after the event, depending on when my schedule allows for it.

I've watched Scan + Nyoken exclusively now actually.
Not because I find it much better, it's just out much faster and since I don't have an opinion on who's "best" I just whatever comes first.

Scan & Nyoken, because they voice what's happening very well. Admittedly it did take some time to get used to Scan as his mother tongue isn't English, but his speech and flow keeps improving whenever he casts with Nyoken. Normally I would prefer to watch Korean, but still open an English stream if it was available. I always want to support an English cast if possible, in this case of there being 2 I only care to support the one that I think is best and also live. It's hard to beat watching live. Now if Tastosis were to cast live, I would watch the Korean stream but still open their stream if it was the only English stream available.

Youtube Scan & Nyoken. Best commentators we have had in a long time i think. I usually watch it a couple of days afterwards and like to read the last pages of the live thread afterwards.

scan and nyoken are very good. i wish they could have a non-terran perspective sometimes though.

when i watch with my friends who know less about broodwar, i have to explain a lot more to them when we watch scan and nyoken. tastosis are better at explaining stuff to people who are unfamiliar.

but we still choose to groupwatch nyoken and scan over tastosis. me and my friends don't really like how artosis and tasteless talk about so much negative shit about people or the game, or the ableist language. i dunno if they realize how that stuff impacts people but i also dont really care about explaining to folks that dont understand.

Afreeca English live when possible, mostly watch the Afreeca English vods on either Afreeca or YT. Scan's insight into the meta and Korean scene in general is amazing.

Watching Scan+Nyoken live when I can. If couldn't then I watch their VOD + I watch like 60-70% of Tastosis (either way) in faster speed.
edit: oh and I definitely watch all the subbed interviews in the Tastosis VOD, it's great!

Tastosis. I'm not a diehard fan/player like a lot of TL so their banter and chemistry + better production value gets the edge over Scan + Nyoken

I used to watch from youtube vods anyway since I rarely catch it live, plus I'm always behind a week or two so also used to avoiding spoilers. On top of that I also support them on patriot, since they have given me over a decade of entertainment. So ye I watch tastosis!

Scan and Nyoken for me. I need my (e)sports live it just isn't the same watching it days later. Hopefully tastosis work out a deal to cast ASL live one day but for now Scan and Nyoken have been doing a great job.

Mostly Tastosis.
I watch some scan/nyoken too.
All four are awesome.

I kind of just stopped, no excitement of live result anymore. staying up to watch the game was something fun to do. Now I occasionally check liquipedia for results.

Scan and Nyoken all the way. They are casting usually 12 to 24 hours after ASL - this is acceptable time. Unfortunately Tastosis are way to slow. I understand that production value maybe is better. But from SCBW i only demand Game itself, and insightful commentary - which StarCast TV always delivers. <3

Pretty much the same, if I get to them before they're on StarCastTV's YouTube channel, then I'll watch in on afreecaTV but that doesn't happen too often. Also like to read the end of the LR thread after.

Interesting, I never thought about it, but for people with no knowledge of BW, Scan and Nyoken could be hard to follow immediately alright. I agree Tastosis are probably better at that aspect, though they reference SC2 a bit which I know almost nothing about!

I think it's fantastic we have the options of both and I'm glad people enjoy both so we keep both.
If in doubt, differentiate and set equal to zero

Artosis and Tasteless for the entertainment. Though I'd consider Scan and Nyoken if I was primarily watching to get better, to understand the game at depth, or something like that.

In terms of game knowledge they are definitely the best English commentators that we've ever had. They have also getting better and better. Mainly improving the entertainment side of things...

I was watching Tastosis, and was a Patreon supporter, but it kept irking me when I saw the language on their Patreon page saying that basically there would be no English casting of the ASL without them, when in fact there's a pretty excellent team also providing English-language casting with Afreeca's blessing. I gave Scan and Nyoken a shot to see how their quality was, and honestly they're also just more to my liking. I prefer analytical casting, and after all these years I'm feeling a bit tired of hearing Tastosis make the same points over and over again.

Scan and Nyoken on Youtube.

Broodwar isn't as important a part of my life as it was 8-10 years ago so watching live is rarely an option, but it's still great to be able to catch up with all the vods at a time convenient for me.

my vote goes to nyoken and scan who are knowledge casting for free and doing a community service out of love for the game and scene

for example, they spend a lot of time talking about extended metaphors/jokes about stuff being "insane" / "crazy" / "stupid". like beyond just the casual meaning of "bad". i know those words is just of how everyone talks, but on a several occasions they go beyond merely using the words. i don't feel like digging through their videos for examples but it's there if you pay attention.

not trying to start an argument about it because i know that me saying that much is probably a controversial take, it's just me and my friends' preference. i know a lot of viewers don't notice because it's something they think doesn't affect them. i also know that tastosis are probably not intending any harm by it, but it still sucks for me and my friends to hear.

i also know that scan and nyoken definitely use those words but they are just using it in the casual sense of "bad", which i still dislike, but it's easier to ignore. and they don't linger on it as part of a longer bit

i also know that scan and nyoken definitely use those words but they are just using it in the casual sense of "bad", which i still dislike, but it's easier to ignore. and they don't linger on it as part of a longer bit

Thanks. I wasn't looking to start an argument either, I was just curious as to what they were saying. My gut instinct when hearing about ableist language is that Tastosis may be saying "retarded" or "autistic" which I would have found very surprising, but hearing the terms "crazy" etc. certainly makes sense.

i know theres quite a few people in the community that do say that stuff, but as far as i know tasteless and artosis don't say that in their commentary. at least not these days. i dont remember that well back to when tasteless was doing GOMTV or whatever, he might've back then. but i also would like to think we've all grown a lot since that era, i know i have. i wouldn't hold things he said in that time against him.

All artosis does is complain about protoss, scan/nyoken aren't good at casting. I just started watching the korean casters instead. No clue what they're saying yet but it's much nicer

I watch both Tastosis and Scan/Nyoken, but I usually wait to watch the Tastosis cast first. Tastosis for entertainment value, Scan/Nyoken for knowledge.

Scan and Nyoken do an awesome job giving insight into some of the more technical aspects of the games.

Korean even though I have no idea what they are saying. They set a good mood. Then I might see the interview translations form Scan. They usually say something interesting.

i mean while he streams sure. But i've almost NEVER found him to complain much during casts. Even for Mini vs Rush which involved multiple cross spawn nexus first he didn't try to detract from minis victories.

Nyoken and expecially Scan and are more technical and I really like that.
On the other hand, Tasteless and Artosis are more fun sometimes.

All four of them could do a joint collab and do live comment, like the guys from back2warcraft do (e.g. 2 or 3 of them could comment live, even up to 4 people).

Anyway, it's very good we have live EN option as well. I would like to see this for KCM Race, Showmatches(Ultimate Battle) and ASTL.

There is a solid non-korean watchers base that would love this. Again, back2warcraft is a good example on how coverage is done, they try to cover most important wc3 competitions, and they have more members and collaborators, relying a lot on donations.

I watch whatever StarCraft Tastosis casts (BW or SC2) and don’t watch any other casters. I love SC but haven’t played in several years and am still here because of the entertainment Tastosis provides. I do quite like the other SC2 casters (haven’t tried Nyoken/Scan) but nobody can do for me what the Casting Archon does.

I’m also happy to support their Patreon because of all the free entertainment I’ve enjoyed over the years.

Both tastosis and starcast. I find nyoken and scan do a better job with an analytical cast and frankly sometimes seem more excited for some casts. They are also timely.

Tastosis have presentation value. They’re still the gold standard to just have on and I lean to them for finals. They’re great if I’m working and want something there while I work.

Either way I enjoy both and it feels like a golden age for content. People should check out he staarcast grudge matches. Great players.
