since the announcement of starcraft2, so many people in my school are coming back to sc. even the people i never thought would have played starcraft were talking about it. one of the classmates in my physics class told me that he installed sc and the expansion last night after watching sc2 gameplay lol these people forgot about sc long time ago, but then after watching sc2 game play/trailer, they wanted to come back and play what used to be their best game ever. although awhile back when i talked about sc and everyone used to say it's the best game ever, none of them actually played it anymore. but now, even the people who aren't really into video games are playing sc again. it's really awesome to see people play sc and talk about it. also couple of my old b.net friends have come back to sc, or at least have told me that they are coming back for WGTour and whatnot. i think the main reason people are interested in playing sc again is because of starcraft2 also, i find it pretty interesting that it's very hard to find someone whos never played sc before. and it's A LOT harder to find someone say anything negative about sc.
anyway, i'm gonna be playing some games with friends from my school who are total newbies :D we are gonna probably play on bgh or something. heh, good old days >_<
i think blizzard did awesome job with the 1.15 patch(wgtour) and then the annoucement of sc2.
so, are people around u also coming back to play sc?
Actually, i cant really see any more of my game friends, since they're accounts were taken, Gg
Nope, they went back to dota/war3, from wow. Weird huh?
Yes! OMG evrybody at my school is hyped about SC2 and my friend Brandon said he'll play me BW as soon as he find a disc cuz he doesn't want to feel newb when SC2 come out. He needs to get accustomed to the system.
<3 sc2!
actually ya. People I know have started talking about sc2 and 1 or 2 are playing sc.
i got one friend who came back, the others are just really hyped about it
so many kids in my hs are restarting/starting starcraft b/c of sc2
yep all these kids that looked down on broodwar with their Dota and cs emo shit are orgasmic over sc2
They tried a few games, lost them all, sighed, and went back to WoW.

I feel kinda jealous because WE are the ones who have been playing SC and waiting for SC2...and now all these bandwagon fans jump on! (i'm not sure how serious i am here )
Played SC switched to CS1.6 went cal-p got extremely boring, went back to SC. Remembered why I quit. Went to WoW.
some friends of mine are returning, people that quit 4 or 5 years ago, this is indeed really amazing, at least for me, there will be a huge community by the time SC2 is released, and even then, the community will grow bigger and bigger, this is just great ^^
Everyone is asking me bout SC2 thinking I'm hyped for it, and all surprised to hear I'm not with what I've seen so far. Noones really returning to SC, only the 20 or 25 so people that still play cause I keep bugging them about it.
only insult i've ever heard against sc are:
its too old - makes no sense. why wouldnt you play a game cus its old?
i've questioned people about that and they have no idea what to say, besides that its old, and its "graphics" aren't awesome
the day i play a game for graphics, is the day i stop playin video games
Yea, lots of friends that I know are gonna check out SC2, it should be good.
Honestly giving Blizzards track record, and with what they've promised to do with this game; I don't see why people would expect it not to be awesome.

I dislike WC3 and WoW Theyre blizz made. I dont even like Diablo series. So I'm not saying they suck, I just have better games to play, and I dont think SC2 can top those games I play at the moment.
Yeah. SO many people coming from W3 to play sc. Their noobish few unit micro oriented style is funny but they just come and play and increase our numbers
a few of my friends said they're going to get sc2(because it's new, graphics etc..), having barely played sc1.
yeah a few of my friends also...got back cuz they saw sc2 LOL
all of my friends still play warcraft 3 even though they might play sc i hate when they say they are all good then they challenge u in a 1vs1 on fastest... i just dont like it alot when u play with ur friends who are not near ur kind of lvl of playing becuz then u might be playing with ur friends alot on games and ur friend might wanna play ums on sc which can make u get worse in melee games...

A ton of people have imed this past week and have started asking me to help "tutor" them in SC.

Great so see so many ppl getting ready for sc2. Looks like koreans might have a hard time dominating sc2 . Some of my CS 1.6 buddies are interested in it too. They never play rts but saying they will give sc2 a try.
idk I've already ruined like 9 of my classmates lives here by getting to play sc again over the past year
It'll be cool if sc2 unites sc1 and war3 communities. It has the potential.

Yup, a few months ago i used to ask my friends all the time if they were up for a few BW games, they sighed and said "maybe later.." and went back to their raiding, Now after the announcement they are suddenly the biggest SC fans ever, talking about the SC story, build orders, units etc. and basically trying to make it look like they've been with the game since the release.
Pisses me off

We are all hyped up about it, but we sigh and say, well, we are already too old and busy to dedicate 3-4h/day to it, so it will never be as great as the times with sc1 when we were young and had nothing else to do.

Nop I think I have only one friend that used to play BW that I know of.
Yeah I've been noticing bnet channals filling up more than they use to
Btw, tell your friends to go to tl.net and watch some vods at sc2.org to stimulate their interest in starcraft
soon, those noobs find sc is too hard and wait for noob friendly sc2........
yup yup my friends have been telling me about SC and SC2 (gee, of course I didn't know -_-) and some of them saying trash like "I'm going to pwn you when SC2 comes out" ahahah it's so funny, since I pwn my whole school (and my town afaik :x) @ SC - they are all waiting for SC2

The understanding of the basics of economy in sc1 will probably help sc1 players to get good at sc2 much faster than noobs. There seems to be so much similarities between the games. Just learning what unit counters which will probably get you beyond noob-level quickly if you have a lot of starcraft experience.

i am seeing an increase in the newb rate in pubs in b.net i think. i mean finding more people than i did before on uswest who send their workers to mine one at a time. i wonder if they'll get their asses kicked and remember why they quit this game in the first place, and quit again. but yeah sc2 might do to rub it in that it's considered by some a prosport, and it's a big enough event to get people talking, so with wgtour back as well it could be good for the bw community in the mean time.

I have a lot of friends that can partially see and appreciate Brood War for being such a fantastic game. They don't play too much because they know just how many months of intense training they would have to do just to reach a level where it makes sense to even start a game 1v1 with me. Not that I am ubber gosu, but they're noobs.
SC 2 will be set in a prize winning Universe, with orgasmic graphics (that background planet is FUCKING ART, and updated freaking Mona Lisa), and it will offer the best gameplay in the history of electronic games. Awesome units and tactical possibilities, too. So I see a lot of my friends (classmates mostly) retuning to the SC Universe with SC2, and I'll predict we'll have a great time together, and in a few months I'll hope we'll get highly competitive against each other. (they assume since it's a new game, we'll all start at level 0 of skill, but actually I'll have the upper hand, from my SC BW experience muwhaha)
If all works out as planned/as I see it now, I predict SC 2 will revolutionize gaming even in this God-forsaken wasteland of a town I live in, all the more in US/Europe ^_^ (large cities)
That's just another reason I'm looking forward towards SC2 with great hope. We can only trust Blizz not to blow it.

Anyone who has rekindled interest in BW should be reintroduced to the pro scene. I hardly play anymore, but I love watching and occasionally succumbing to the urge to buy a can of Pringles. That keeps BW alive too.
