OSL day 3: As usual I would personally recommend watching all the games, which once again were very short in the aggregate. What I love about the OSL is that everyone prepares for it, so you see all kinds of builds or variations on builds that are off the main line. Often this leads to short games/blowouts, but that's OK by me--I like that kind.

I'll give a short rundown of the 4 games, but first: If you only want to watch the best game, let me be the fifth to recommend Flash vs. Stork. Although I liked the go.go/JD and Pure/Hwasin games too, not everybody will like those, but you can't go wrong with Flash vs. Stork. Also, if you want to avoid really bad games, don't bother with Shine vs. Fantasy.

The rundown. Again, the real spoilers are for games where you pretty much know who's going ot win early on, anyway:
Go.go vs. Jaedong:
+ Show Spoiler [spoiler] +
Overgreedy vs. overpool. Another case where Jaedong blows out an opponent who is afraid to play him straight-up. Go.go's 13 CC + leaky wall-in fails hard-core to Jaedong's overpool.

Still worth watching, IMO, to see the way that Jaedong dismantles go.go's build. The truth is, go.go's defense was not that bad, and Jaedong was not able to finish it with his initial lings. Against another Zerg, I think go.go might have had a shot. He was playing Jaedong, though.

Pure vs. Hwasin:
+ Show Spoiler [semi-spoiler] +
Watch this game if you like seeing + Show Spoiler +
Protoss
abused to the max. Don't watch it if you play + Show Spoiler +
Terran
.

Honestly, I really enjoyed this game. A really slick/well-planned rush build by the winner combined with a bit of unfortunate corner-cutting by the loser add up to the most brutal rape I have seen in a while.

I can see that a lot of people won't like it, though. Don't watch if you don't like blow-outs or BOs having a significant impact on the game.

Fantasy vs. Shine:
+ Show Spoiler [semi-spoiler] +
The only reason I would sort of recommend watching is because it's an OSL game and it won't take up very much of your time. As far as the game itself goes, though--not worth watching at all. This was one of those games where the guy who springs the offbeat build is crushed by something relatively standard, leaving you wondering what the plan was. Not that different from Fantasy's previous OSL game (against Calm), in fact.

Flash vs. Stork:
+ Show Spoiler [non-spoiler] +
Game of the night. A non-standard game that was not too long, but not a blowout either. Both sides were looking good at different points in the game, but ultimately the winner pulled off a very well-deserved win. Some unusual unit combinations show up as well. Definitely worth a watch.

Jaedong vs Effort was good, in my opinion. The winner did a smart move. Not extraordinary, but better than JD vs Savior.

Totally amazing with flash playing risky.... i almost shat in my pants

Why the hell is this a recommended game? One well-timed attack, no more no less.

You must have missed how flash's superb scouting allowed him to go for a more economical build, skipping the early marines in favor of scvs and getting the second barracks that much quicker, allowing him to make that timing attack that exploited the tiny window. If the attack was a few seconds later, kwanro would have had time to get that 2nd sunken up which would have smashed flash's army like it was nothing, since there was only one medic there. It was an exquisite display of game sense, timing and micro that characterizes earlier periods of starcraft and was reminiscent of boxer's reign as emperor.

Were we watching the same game?

Having just watched the Final game, I concur with this recommendation. The early game was the typical slow build-up of economy for both sides and I skimmed the first 10 minutes, but from the mid-game on, the game turned into a fascinating clash of opposite styles + Show Spoiler [styles] +
Neo-Sauron, pure hydra vs. varied, tech-heavy Protoss army (reaver/sair/HT/archon/zealot/goon)
where I found it quite hard to judge who was ahead most of the time.

One other interesting point about the game: + Show Spoiler [amusing bonus] +
I think that's the first time I've seen hydras doing the early templar snipe.

As for Jaedong vs. CrazyHydra, it was a pretty good, close-fought battle; very long by ZvZ standards (i.e. more or less as long as the average non-ZvZ game). Definitely worth watching if you're a fan of one of the players or of ZvZ in general, but if you don't usually like ZvZ, I don't think that this game will prove to be an exception.

what was so sad about that game was that July would of TOTALLY HAD IT if his muta-micro was better and he didn't waste an entire group of mutas sniping only 2 templar on TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS

Imo JD vs Crazy-Hydra is definitely worth watching, even if you are not a big ZvZ fan. + Show Spoiler +
As you rarely see ZvZs go that long, especially against JD.

Btw: I am not too sure if its crazy-hydra putting up a really good fight or just JDs being too confident and almost failing. What do you guys think?
Edit: Oh, thats what JD says about that, it must be true because he is the man: + Show Spoiler +
- Lim Jung Hyun (Crazy-Hydra)'s chase in the 1st game was very severe.
▲ Because the map is larger than usual you don't need to attack when you do a muta-scourge strategy. I didn't want to get into a prolonged battle, however, so I got greedy and wanted to end the game very quickly. I began playing aggressively and extended my forces too much, and almost gave up a comeback win. After that I put the thought of the late-game in my mind and played defensively. I probably would've won easily if I played defensively from the beginning, but I am still satisfied because I was able to play a fun game where the players butted heads.

Well, it's true that it's a long game, but + Show Spoiler +
it doesn't really have that much more than a typical ZvZ: zerglings, mutalisks, and scourge. The main reasons it went that long, I think, are a) the size of the map and b) the fact that both sides went for the economy-oriented 12-hatch. Jaedong had an edge from the beginning and he slowly widened it.
