in the past 1-2 years ago when i watched larva he usually just trashes amateurs/weak pros and never bothers to play against stronger opponents more often for self improvement
this time hes willing to mass games against the likes of flash/last and eat all those losses in front of his stream audience (something a lot of amateurs wouldn't do, massing games against pros that is). its a respectable act and its very obvious how his ZvT has improved significantly thanks to that. though not to the level of the other zerg pros yet
Larva chokes too much, one game on CB against Last, he had like a perfect game in the beginning killed a lot of marines with stop lurkers, hided a stop lurker on the future third of terran to kill scvs, hung around scourges to stop dropships.. and the dropship still arrived and Larva fell apart, lol Last pushed his natural at the same time, and Larva could not handle anything properly, to defend natural or kill the marines inside main.
Ah poor Larva... He needs to learn from his mistakes to not make them again. Just grinding ladder won't help him much from now on because his control, APM, micro is at hundred percent but decision making and multitask both lack.

Yup. Geez, that game in Team League a few days ago, for example... Mind just owned him quite easily.
Even Bisu's early cheese was really ineffective (i.e. what seems to be the strongest part of his game these days). And he seems to leaning on that stuff too much... maybe because he's not really in form.
Most troubling? With someone like Jaedong, you pretty much know he's gonna return to form, unless injuries shut him down. But with Bisu, it feels like maybe he really isn't going to get much better. And then there's his Army service coming up.

But thanks for the post as always classicalyellow83!
Because I believe these are sponsored matches only
So, Bisu played 40.2% of his games vs Top5, while Last played only 11.8%, Flash 10.1%, Effort 23.4%, Jaedong 18.6%, Ssak 10.4%.
Although classicyellow83 info is incredibly interesting, it should probably be normalized wtih ELO like system (like it was on tl in the past). Any chance we can obtain some raw data on games?

Hopefully this puts to rest the silly notion that he's a top player. I've seen quite a few posts lately speaking of Larva as a serious contender ("top terrans will have to watch out for his ZvT, he's revolutionizing the matchup!") and I'm like What?
Larva's always been that charming tier 2 player with no real chance against the top dogs in a BO5. Nothing new here. Even if he brings new ideas to certain matchups, those ideas will be perfected by others.
No coincidence that Jaedong's first month with a top-3 win rate is also the first month in which he didn't mass-game against Last.
Edit: I am very happy he's in the top 3. Just observing that his statistics have been held back (in the short term) by his habit of working the most on his weakest point ;-)

Sadly, I have to agree. I always root for him! But this seems rather undeniable.

larva appears to be the punching bag of the Top 5
In professional boxing, the term is 'tomato can'.
It's someone who goes out, nearly always loses, and gets beaten bloody in the process, in order to make the top guys look good. It's not necessarily even 'rigged', it's just a guy who gets a lot of fights based on the fact that he can pretty much be counted on to lose, given his quality level. Larva's a tomato can.
But, he's crying all the way to the bank, so I'm sure he's okay with it.
Though it has gotten to the point where, in order to be taken seriously, maybe there should be a separate 'Non-Larva-Games WinRate %' category to determine who's REALLY Top 5.
I wonder if Larva's getting better and better against these guys. Who knows, maybe he'll crush some dreams in tournaments by playing so much against top dogs.
Larva is already solid player, who could actually be quite competitive against almost anyone. But his biggest problems in tournaments are choking and Bisu.

Even Jaedong and Effort have horrible win rates vs. Flash and Last if you look at the last ~6 months

No kidding, it's cold out I'm frigging not digging it, bout to start singing and winging it, have you seen my mittens cuz I need to find my kittens in this god forsaken kitchen. Bitchin', that's what I'm all about lately, it might not be stately but lately I've not been feelin rather saintly. Mate, I hate to be irate but I have to berate this bate fate of late: TvZ is IN a bad state.
Bisu and Mini are doing really well in March. Bisu has the highest win rate so far in March with 77% and Mini has the 3rd highest win rate in March. Mini is 81.3% in PvP and 3-1 against Flash this month so far. Are we finally gonna see 2 protoss in Top 5? I hope so.

Could he be The One? To save us from the long nightmare brought upon the world (of Aiur) by Zerg and Terran? To follow in the footsteps of Bisu and Jangbi? Time will tell, time will tell.
Seems like Last won't get first place in March sitting at 64%. As of today, Flash and Bisu are the front runners with Flash having 75.4% win rate and Bisu having 71% win rate.

If only TL had legacy team sprites, I'd still be repping STX.
I never did take off my Hwaseung icon :<
same... and I remember when mods said, that they will let us keep the logos even if teams disbanded they were lying
And of course they kept all the logos for every SC2 team that ever existed. The logo pick screen is even titled: "Your favorite SC2 progaming team" even though almost all of them are defunct.
Just like the title for the TeamLiquid site contains the word "StarCraft 2" and no other game. Apparently we've been discussing SC2 all along.
