This basically says the cell phone verification process was causing issues for people and they've removed it (for now) as this new season has begun.
With that being said, they've reverted back to a hybrid of the old system: You need 72 hours logged online + 30 melee wins. This means that if any of you used to fish ladder and had your old IDs which already had 30 wins + hours logged, you can just get on those IDs again.
TLDR;
You can go fish ladder now, just make an ID, 72 hours logged hours (leave your comp on for 3 days), and get 30 melee wins. Have fun.
Note:
They do mention that the rules could change and they'll let us know, but at least for now, everyone who never had phone verification can get gaming.

P.S. I'm just a ladder player on fish, I do not care about any of the arguments people have on koreans hating foreigners, blah blah. This is just simply something I found out and I am sharing. You can use it or think whatever you want about it... basically inb4 someone tries to cause arguments about fish

ProtossGG, a small amendment, new rule is not 30 melee wins, just 30 melee games.

did they change/implement a purge policy? didn't logged in for a few months and i found my old (phone verified) accounts were all deleted.

If you don't log in for three months your account is deleted.

For these that didn't know (i just got to know a second ago from Scan): you don't need korean phone number to play ladder on Fish anymore! You still need to be online 72h and have 20 wins (?).

And I only now realized that this was posted in OP, lol. I somewhat missed that information and had a feeling that many people didnt know, so guess bump makes sense.

Great news, but a bit sad for everyone who likes to play on iccup, cause the activity could decrease there now if many players switch to fish :/

Are you hosting yourself? If yes, maybe you host with wrong names (or missing the #L2 or #w at the end of game name) ... like, don't use english names. I've made the expirience that koreans only join games with korean names.
But if you're joining, I don't know what could be the reason. Your melee stats will be considerated for ladder games only anyways.

Honest opinion I think this is for the better. All the big fish can now go to a bigger pond. Letting the smaller fish come out.

All the big fish have already been playing there, though Getting access to ladder was never really a problem afaik.

also Koreans are very picky about latency (dont like play with teammates/opponents with above 100 ping), and you probably have a wrong map. There's like a gazillion version of FS and downloading another one would infuriate people
