I'm honestly so depressed now, JD didnt lose a single BO5 or BO3 to anyone in his streams. The games didn't look like Jaedong today. Especially not taking back the only mutalisk shooting at the evolving spore colony, he just let it die. (Game1) As a very big JD fan, this hurts really.. But JD, dont give up just yet... Always disliked these group stages, bo1 zvz is so greatly dependent on luck.

I said this before and I'm gonna say it again: these are basically bo1s and they suck balls for tournament style play. Especially at this stage of the round. At least make it so that it's a best of 3.

Wow I'm so sad. I really thought this could be JD's ASL. He looked so strong.

He is. It really is the BO1 fault. And with that many fans you gotta have mega pressures, and last asl success' he just didnt play on his level.
Well, I hope this isnt the end of his career....

really sad too. can’t put it into words.
I think this might just be it. ASL is the only starleague now. he gotta wait another 4 to 5 months for the next one. his deadline for his military service is about to come, and another big reason is his health.
oh man this might be his last :’(

bo3s also mean more BW!

To be a truly great at BW tournaments you have be excellent at multiple formats: bo1, bo3, bo5, bo7. Unfortunately JD has lost his grip on bo1s for too long now.

I think everyone knows that at pro level zvz is pure random when most winnings depends on starting BO and luck of overlord scout. That cannot be controlled even by top pro players. I think it is impossible between JD Larva Effort Hero Soulkey and so on to have over 50% winrate in bo1 zvz matches. Someday random favors to one, other to another.

Let's not pretend that JD played extremely well that day, it's sad because his practice spon games went really well but when it mattered he made crucial mistakes and lost. I am a big Jaedong fan, i obviously want him to win but i also think that his health should be top priority (though i hope that he knows it best, not just playing because he thinks he has to for his fans) The only thing i truly know is that i will support him no matter what decision he makes, army is coming up as well...

All zergs looked extremely poor tbh. Shuttle played decently, but not extraordinarily well as Tastosis said

I'm not sure I agree with that statement, for me that game on Third World vs Larva was kind of mindbblowing, specially the overall aproach Shuttle did to play there.

IMO Jaedong had some nerves during the first game (not to say that he didn't make some great plays and come very close to winning) and, during the second game, got flustered by the fact that his zerglings wouldn't glitch and let that affect his play.
If we must have dual tournament groups, I would prefer to see Bo3s all the way through or at least in elimination games. This is not because I would like to see Jaedong advance every time (although I would), but rather because I want to see players show their skills more before being eliminated. Players go through a grueling qualifier only to get eliminated in the blink of an eye. I'd like to see them go out with more of a fight, or turn things around if they have the skill to do so. I think players would find this more mentally healthy, and viewers would have more games to watch. The only obstacle is that it costs money to book a stadium. (My ideal tournament format would be Bo5 single elimination from start to finish.)

I agree to what you guys are saying to some extent, about Bo1’s are ugly etc. I’m a Jaedong fan and I’m really devastated to what happened, but we all know that a loss is a loss. As Jaedong always say when he’s interviewed in ASL, his goal is to be a champion. He said alot of times that it doesn’t matter who he battles next because what he wants is to win the championship. Jaedong himself knows that he lost a game, a bo1. But a champion doesn’t lose when it matters. Against all odds. No excuses. We can all get sad about what happened but this is why a champion is a champion. And why Flash truly deserves to be a champion.
Just my opinion, I’m not starting a fight here or anything.

Uh, don't even mention that. Losing JD would be a big blow, he is like a magnet for the fans.

I don't agree with the sentiments of BO1 being a toss up. Just because there's a lot more variance in the results doesn't make it so. Truly great players will advance. JD made obvious mistakes in both games that made him lose. Had he made scourge to snipe ovies for example (1 or maybe 2) and if he micro'd better in the first game (+ better decision making; killing off pool for example) he'd have it in the bag 100% Also, players know who they're going to face in advance, so tactics can be developed to counter the playstyle AND we see most of the time standard play anyway, so coinflip is such a bs statement. If BO1 would truly be coinflips, we'd see much different outcomes every single time. I LOVE JD, been following him since Lecaf, but hes just not up to par at the moment.
