So, that was a shotgun marriage.
Nada just said that he already had a daughter when he retired (which means, before his duty).
According to Nada, his wife raised her daughter alone and waited Nada`s discharge. Also, they could not have a marriage ceremony till last year (that was held with the help of Afreeca and Blizzard) because he lost $700K in the stock market.
He also stated that he just payed all his debts and he`s going to live with his family in June.

700k wow. Either he got scammed or invested himself without understanding how it works =/. Anyway I'm glad for him that he doesn't have to keep it a secret anymore I guess and that he's nearly out of financial trouble.

Not really. I lost around a third of that in the last year as well. It depends on how big your capital is and I'm sure his is much bigger than mine. Of course, it does sound like his percentage losses are much bigger than mine.

Here's one of the possible reasons why NaDa couldn't have a proper wedding/marriage and not live with his "wife" and daughter currently:
In Korea, marriage couples would often buy out a house/condo/apartment to move into as soon as they marry which cost A LOT of money (think at least 1 million dollars or more).
Unlike other countries where married couples either live off rent and then buy house later stages of life or settle down on a mortgage to slowly pay off the house they purchased, Korea does not have that same system.
Instead of a mortgage system, they would basically buy out the house/condo/apartment they would move into by spending it all in one-go (meaning pay all $1 million at once if that's what it cost). When they want to move to another place afterwards, they get that money they paid from the house they're moving out to use that same money for the next place. More like a loan/lease system than a mortgage system.
The problem with this is that you need that sum of money to start it off to move somewhere. And one of the requirements for married couples in Korea, especially as the male/husband is to provide housing for the family. This is also why couples often don't marry until years and years (even as far as 10+ years) into relationship because the guy don't have the money to buy out/lease/loan out housing yet.
I suspect NaDa falls into this common Korean couple scenario where he failed to provide housing for him and his wife which delays the wedding/marriage.

I can't talk to the relationship situation, I can talk to the financial side of things. The reality is that a large influx of money, when you don't come from a family with money, tends to cause far more trouble than it solves. The reason is that money is a dangerous tool that requires experience.
It's also puts a massive target on your back for people to try to exploit it from you. "Smart" people are careful about who they have handle their money. Those "wise" with their money are don't invest in anything they don't understand. It's normally that last bit that causes the big losses. The Korean KOSPI Index has been sideways for nearly 5 years, so there's a good chance a lot of that money was lost some time ago and was unable to be recovered. (It's also possible he ate a loss that was recovered later, but after already eating a big loss.)
So there's a lot of things that could go wrong if you're not really careful with your money. And there's even ways to lose a lot of money "doing the right thing" if you're not vigilant. So while it looks bad, it's hard to say too much on what went wrong. (Or, maybe more directly, it's far more likely the result of the mistakes most everyone makes.)

I'm glad he is doing better financially, despite us mostly being unaware of his misfortune there.
I would not be to quick to judge him on losing a lot of money, a lot of very smart and talented people with a lot more financial experience have done the same.
It must have been terrible not getting to see his wife and daughter while he was in the military though and his wife raising their daughter so much on her own..

I could easily find myself over-explaining this, but basically it's gambling. The thing that's vague is if it's purely Nada's fault or just Nada's fault for trusting someone to help him grow his money (like a guardian) which obviously he wouldn't want to paint a target on. So many SC players became poker players back in the day, it seems like SC players very naturally understood risk management. So it's genuinely weird. But I guess poker isn't stocks, anyway. There could be lots of reasons his money got there.

Asian stocks (and stocks in general) have been falling pretty hard so I'm not surprised if Nada lost so much in the market. I'm sure he will be financially fine though. Best wishes to his daughter in the future.
