In order to attend, you'll need to a get a ticket from here. The tickets are free, but in order to make sure you're serious about attending, they are asking 300RMB up front. You can choose to have your money refunded at the event or give them to PLU as a donation. They say all proceeds will go to hosting a similar event in 2015, and those who donate will be able to receive a souvenir bag that may contain signed memorabilia, t-shirts, etc. The ticket page also mentions VIP seats, but I don't have any solid info on how to get that. VIP tickets have already been sold out. As of this update both regular and VIP tickets are available, go check the actual ticket page for up-to-date info.
They seem really sensitive to ticket scalpers, so make sure the name, phone #, and ID # that you write down when buying the ticket are correct, as they will be checked at the door.
The venue will opens its doors at 11:30, with the event set to run from 1pm to 9:30pm. Seats are first-come first-serve, and you can't re-enter once you've left. PLU will provide one free meal per person (Burger King + drinks), and additional catering will be available from the venue itself. However, you still can't bring in liquids from outside.
If you can read Chinese, most of the info is available here.
I feel the exact same way, Xiphos. Just waiting for SSL10! Is there any chance that there will be VODs of this fantastic-sounding event somewhere afterwards? My guess is that there wouldn't be, but my hope then would be that someone would turn up and make a pirate recording at tolerable quality and manage to upload them after the event. :p
Hell yeah, I'll be there for sure! Thank you so much for letting us know!
The Taobao page is not very clear or maybe my Chinese sucks. Anyway I have a lot of questions:
1.So basically there are 3 types of admission? - free: free seating, but no souvenir - 300rmb: seating + souvenir - VIP: ??? I see "VIP票和普通票的区别,VIP票座位靠前可凭票兑换礼包但是不能退票哦。 普通票可以选择退款或者换取礼包其中一个" is that all? What's the price of VIP tickets?
2. Can people who didn't buy ticket sit in the same area as those who purchased a ticket?
3. I think the Taobao page says that we can't bring food/drinks and that catering will be provided for 50rmb/person but it also says there won't be enough food for everyone? The pages says the event lasts 10 hours and we can re-enter the venue if we leave. Should I prepare myself to starve?
4. Please explain this:
若现场发现票贩黄牛,请直接大喊一声:“打黄牛!” 第一位出拳者,可免票入场。
That makes no sense, if I am the first one to shout “打黄牛!” but I already bought my ticket online, are the organizers going to reimburse me 300rmb?
5. I couldn't find the address of the venue.
6. Total amount of seats? I'm kind of busy tonight and would rather buy my ticket later, but I'm afraid it's going to be sold out.
Thanks!
edit: qwertysucks, did we meet before at the cancelled Proleague finals exactly 3 years ago to the day?
I was going to make a post about this, but it's impossible to find out any concrete information, I find out most of these from random broadcasts.
This is what I gathered from the taobao page.
Ticket is 300 RMB, you NEED to have a ticket to enter. You can enter for free by asking for a refund on the day at the venue.
The money for the ticket is effectively an optional donation that you can get back. The ticketing system is set up so that they can limit the number of people who can get in. VIP is just a guaranteed donation (not sure if it's more than 300 RMB, doesn't say).
This whole thing is sponsored by PLU, people estimate that the event will cost over 500,000 RMB (~80,000 USD). Rumours have it that Bisu will receive ~$5000 cash just for showing up, round trip tickets and accommodations provided of course.

Yep, Cambium is correct. They say all the money raised from tickets will go towards hosting future PLU SC events, and you forfeit the gift bag if you ask for a refund. The VIP ticket also seats you closer to the action. Anyways I'll update the OP when I get home.

Yea, I think we did. Hard to believe it's been three years... They already have a Korean-Chinese translator lined up, will try to pry more info out of my friend who knows the guy personally.

I remember the STX event I attended in Shanghai in 2010. Top Chinese players vs the whole STX crew. Legend tore down everyone except Trap which he narrowly lost to 2-3 in the finals. Trap eventually became STX' protoss hope and probably the second best STX player after Bogus after the SC2 switch. Legend completely humiliated Tossgirl in that game @ Match Point where he used Corsairs + Disruption webs on tanks!
Pj is probably really rusty because I don't think he has played at all since 2009~10.
That's a pretty neat funding model, I guess they're thinking that if people have already sent in their money they're more likely to just let the event keep it, rather than free admission with optional donation. Opt-out rather than opt-in.

im pretty sure i already read that
Reminds me of that Stork vs Jaedong challenge from a few months ago... they weren't too bad, but they were also playing one another...
An actively playing Sea versus a rusty Zerg would not be an exciting match-up
Not sure how the games will go, from the looks of things, only two set of players will play 1v1, and the other four will play 2v2. There will only be four hours of 1v1 BW content.
The gift bag will contain roughly 200 RMB worth of goods (ticket is either free or 300 RMB) so manage your expectations!
The whole thing will be streamed live, doubt the stream quality will be any good unless you live in/close to China. You can find the streams at sc.plu.cn on the day of the event.

Nothing on this scale. They'll use the money to fund regular Chinese tournaments like C-OSL (combined prizes probably close to US$ 10,000)
I wish I were in China for that! the line-up is sick!
If anybody here can go, would it be possible to take some pictures and write a blog or something about it? (or a full news even, but that's a lot to ask).

I just updated the time and catering info on the OP. Most notably, PLU is now providing free meals to everyone.
The event will be streamed on 4-5 different platforms. Unfortunately, they all happen to be Chinese ones and I haven't seen any mention of twitch/afreeca. Hopefully at least one of them won't lag too horribly for those who plan on catching it live.
In any case, I'll definitely be there in my red SKT polo shirt!
Bisu is delaying his conscription by three months for this
4、韩方日程 15日达到、16日游玩、17日活动、18日回程 ,共计 4天3晚
The Korean team will stay in Shanghai for four days, arriving on the 15th, sightseeing on the 16th, main event on the 17th, and fly out on the 18th. PLU will likely record a few more SC related broadcasts (Monday All-Star night) with the four Korean players.
5、韩方含选手 11人 ,韩方有自己的赞助 ,在中国直播上不需要体现
The Korean team will have a total of 11 people (four players and 7 randoms), they have sponsors for this trip.

doesn't really say, could be bw players, could be random people there to set up streaming equipment, could be translators, could be people from Kongdoo, could be anyone.
Hmm, it seems like while the Koreans will certainly duke it out in 1v1s, the Chinese players in the OP are only guaranteed to be 'present'. Something about the number of 2v2s being played affecting how many Chinese players will appear on stage. Also, if you check out their new promo video (you should anyways just to see Bisu Sea and Movie speaking Chinese), they highlight players like Fengzi and Jaystar who are certainly more active in the current scene.
Wait.... -Bisu: Wow great! -Movie: OK, Good player. -Zero: Cool zerg, did that infested terrans vs kal. -Sea: Awsome! -Pj: My favorite toss player of all time (my mind just exploded). -LX: Holy Moly, that crazy otehr chinies P that was killin everyone -Super: Probably best Terran chinise player for me -F91: As good as it gets in chinisezergs.
If this thing is at night (im on CET time) im gonna be so depressed... Its on Sunday, I hope I can watch it.

On the other hand, please update the OP - there are still 25 VIP seats and 22 normal seats available for purchase as of 10am EDT!
So sad I'm back in Canada (Bisu... :S), but at least I have IEM Toronto and Flash to look forward to!
Damn it they keep changing stuff on the fly. They specifically told me VIP tickets were sold out a few days ago. I think everyone already grabbed regular tickets, but I guess for the latecomer now's your chance.
I will be interviewing at least a few of the players on Saturday, and I will be asking a few questions from the community. Feel free to suggest questions, and if the question is directed at a specific player, don't forget to mention who. I doubt that I will interview everyone, but will at least try to interview Bisu, Sea, ZerO and Movie.
Potential questions: To all, particularly Bisu -- when is each planning on entering the military, and do they plan on continuing playing BW after military service?
How far along is Kongdoo coming, is it a viable platform?
How has the Afreeca experience been? Able to connect directly with fans, but dealing with negativity and trolls, as well. Do you feel skills slipping as a consequence of no longer practicing 10 hours/day?
Maybe for Zero/Bisu moreso than other players (elaborated below):
Question: Do you think there still is a strong developing meta? Would you like some leagues played on all new maps or all old maps to see a growth in brood war strategy? Do you forsee yourself or anyone else being able to push forward a new meta without devoting a full time professional practice to the game?
Elaborating: Basically, how they think brood war can "grow" strategically, where it might grow, or if it can. New maps aren't coming out as they would for proleague, and I don't know if the vets are really able to dedicate the time to fully flesh-out subtle developments. New maps and some dedicated practice would bring out lots of creativity in the past, or just meta changes due to map structure.
I say bisu/zero moreso because they both did recognizable things to me in shifting/creating strategy (bisu obviously the revolutionist, zero really was the zerg with soulkey that brought forth the queen vs mech the most, but also did some spawn broodling on templars in zvp and ocassionally had craziness such as the infested terran on holy world).
I also am not really up to date with watching the sospa scene.
