The 3rd season of LoveTV Starleague is now officially in the making and Noona promises us a significant growth in scale compared to the firsttwo seasons.
The first round of sponsorship talks with a company is now over and a second meeting is scheduled, so -fingers crossed- we'll see a boost in the prize pool.
Additionally, Love will now focus solely on casting. Observing and other broadcasting matters, as well as confirming players and making sure everything runs smoothly will be handled by her extended team. The overall responsibility for the league will go into the hands of her clanmate sOoL who sponsored and helped manage both previous seasons.
While not much is known at the moment, we can see the players lineup forming as Love updates us with each new addition confirmed. As of now, a total of 31 players are confirmed:
Players Terran - The Triumph of War Mind, HiyA, PianO, Mong, Sharp TBA, TBA, TBA, TBA, TBA, TBA
In the previous season, we already saw some new faces (like Jy) make their debut but this time Love already promises us sixteen new ex-progamers who never streamed on Afreeca. They could be new ex-pro's saying goodbye to their official gaming career, or they could be older stars coming back to have some fun with their pals. Their identities will most likely be announced with more specific details on the league's format and prizepool, so for now, you can all feel free to take your guesses.
Also as you may have noticed, Love did a series of test matches on maps to see if they're viable for today's standards, confirmed maps as of now: Bifrost 3 ver.2014, Neo Guillotine and Katrina.
Im just asking sorry for this :D , i know BW its the best , but isnt this making starcraft 2 look bad ... i mean ya i got moust of you wish Fantasy or others retire so they can come back to broodwar but still....
Anyway looking forward to see some matches too im a little sad thath LOL and Dota are more big in korea then starcraft (

I don't think DotA is bigger than StarCraft in Korea...
Well its going there , i mean i dont have anything with other games , good for them , but whath i dont like its the hate and hope thath starcraft 2 will fail and some people still think starcraft 1 will be back ^_^
I love both games , thats why its strange for me to see , not saying here , in the past and in some posts lots of people hope for retire and SC2 will fail , and its a little sad sometimes
oh wow, didn't realize it was 6 of them. I thought it was 3 of them that were being kept a secret. Guessing last and possibly Fantasy. Hydra as well but not sure who else.

I think Bisu realizes that he's making bank from balloons and streaming on top of being with SKT for a while thus he's giving an opportunity for other pros to make a bit as well. My theory at least.

I doubt it's Hydra considering he's was still in the regular lineup of CJ Entus (who got to the semi finals of the playoffs of Proleague) and is going to play in Red Bull Battlegrounds Global this weekend for a chance to qualify at Red Bull's major tournament in Washington.

If the secret players are non-Afreeca streamers, then it's likely not Last, as he's been streaming for at least a month now. Not gathering many views/fans, though, so hopefully he perseveres
Heh, I like the altruistic Bisu theory
But I imagine it's largely fear and laziness. He doesn't play/practice nearly as much as some of the big names, and even when streaming, his game play is frequently lackadaisical, preferring to keep one eye on his Balloon count. I don't know if the passion still burns red hot
At the same time, I'm sure if Bisu commits himself, he can maintain/regain his throne, but it'd take a good amount of effort. But why trouble yourself with preparing and participating in a tournament when you already have the adoration of fans? There's a lot to risk if he falls, very little to gain if he wins (again)
I haven't seen Jangbi in a while. I wonder what he's up to, though he's streamed on Afreeca before. Someone with a lot of initiative could probably make a list of ex-progamers and Afreeca streamers to narrow down the possibilities. With the SC2 Proleague coming to a close and team shuffles already starting, there may be some players from there as well. Hyvaa, for one, got kicked off of MVP along with a lot of other players.
i mean ya i got moust of you wish Fantasy or others retire so they can come back to broodwar but still....
I want Fantasy back for BW because he doesn't even get to play for SKT anymore, it's really sad to see one of the best players of a game I love go from being a complete legend to a total nobody. Everything I do in Broodwar, heck the only reason why I got into broodwar was thanks to watching Fantasy play. <3

If KeSPA brought back the requirement that all races be fielded in a Proleague series, then FanTaSy and even hon_sin would be out there more often instead of the pure Protoss and Zerg lineups that we see SKT1 field nowadays.

I just remember that leta is also retired and as mentioned, last has been streaming so maybe leta is another terran option then. Would be cool to see :D

oh is he? I had no clue, don't follow the SCII scene much anymore. He's not in Code S though which I feel is pretty big for someone of his caliber which is what I based my comment on

oh yes, of course. The more players, the better. Just wonder how many players the scene can sustain atm.

you make some good points, it's quite possible that's why Bisu is holding back.
I'd say that the surprise ex-pro additions will include all pros with oldschool K-pop bands in their handles. H.O.T-Forever, S.E.S, and Shinhwa (unlikely, match-fixing scandal) come to mind.

there have been weirder retirements from SC2. Jangbi was in Code S and at peak form when he abruptly retired, and Jaehoon was Team 8's ace and probably better at SC2 than he ever was at BW.

s2 has been on afreeca but disappeared after a month or two even before Sonic PL ended, leaving SKT short on members. Leta was supposedly busy getting into family shoe business and afaik never streamed, maybe there's a slight chance he'd be back to play some games..
skyhigh or leta are good bets. Though i dunno if skyhigh has been on the bench at proleague recently (come to think of it, dunno how many players cj entus have nowadays).

JangBi's story is different, from memory Samsung GALAXY KHAN and JangBi basicly had a falling out over prize money and stuff, Samsung then didn't let JangBi out of his contract nor allowed JangBi to basicly play in any tournaments so JangBi basicly got forced to retire, JangBi himself said he still enjoys and wanted to play SC2 but due to Samsung's contract he's basicly unable to do so.
Well, fantasy changed his handle on twitter. No more SKT, it's now sc2fantasy so likely he's not going to be with SKT T1 anymore. Wonder if this means that he plans to change teams since sc2 is still there or if this is still retirement indication.

Sweet good news Stratos!
Guys, imagine if some players that played in SOSPA matches and other players in speculation to come back:
SKT: Bisu, Best, Fantasy, s2, Dove, Larva, Ssak
CJ: SkyHigh, Hydra, Movie, Mong, Kwanro, Iris
Stars: Free, ZerO, Piano, Guemchi
Oz: Killer, Hiya, Anytime, Sky, Perfectman
MBC: Light, Sea, Pusan, Jaehoon, Tyson
STX: Hero, Shuttle, Modesty, Calm, Mini
Khan: Brave, JangBi, minus)Eagle, Great, TurN
All teams looks fairly balanced and legit for seasons of ProLeague. If Kespa Team were ever to pick up Brood War for PL again, this lineup is real good for Best of 5s.
EDIT: Ironically, SKT is still the most stacked team.

Problem is that you're considering that from the BW perspective. His SCII performance doesn't really stack from what I hear though his vZ is supposedly his best mu. As it stands, I believe the terran race is considered weakest in SCII right anymore and they are getting buffs so that can only help him. SKT is also now loaded with crazy good players. Soulkey, Rain, Parting, soO have all achieved more than Fantasy has (and I believe there are more I've forgotten lol). Also, Classic won a GSL like SK and soO made it to and lost 3 GSL finals in a row LOL so better than Fantasy. Rain is quite the solid defensive player and Parting has been rock solid as well and is Flash's achilles heel from what I've read. I dunno how much has changed in the past several months though since I don't watch SCII anymore. To top that off, Fantasy hasn't even made Code S (I think he's in Code B now >.>) so ya, I doubt he'll make the lineup anytime soon if he stays in SKT. Rumours are he'll switch to the prime team since he'll have a better chance of playing PL (and it would explain the sc2 still in his name) but who knows.

Can't be JangBi if the above part of Stratos quote is correct.
Where does it say he no longer coaches? The 20th February entry says he became a coach + well, he was an KT bench in the PL semis, so his retirement now would be even more unlikely that Fantasy leaving.

unlike BW where the best koreans are near untouchable, anyone at the highest level can take games off anyone. fantasy may not be the best but with a proper strategy he can still win a BO1 against any of the strong KT quartet of Flash/stats/baby/zest, more so if its any any other KT players.
fantasy have not been in the lineup throughout the current proleague indicate that he might not have been in the proper mindset for some time and have been thinking of leaving SKT, not because of ability. (in the previous proleague fantasy didn't perform badly either) Plus Dark have been a good form making it to Code S. although he has dropped down already.
Although if he's playing on Afreeca now, I guess he wouldn't technically be "never having streamed Afreeca before"...
That is a question one Korean netizen asked and another replied with the same conclusion. Love didn't elaborate. Last has been streaming on afreeca so if she wants to stay true to her announcement he shouldn't be one of the TBAs. If you consider she has 8 TBAs already it's not like she's in dire need of another name. Ultimately we'll just have to wait and see. I would love to see Last play in this anyway.
I don't think she did. And I don't think she'd play considering how busy she is. But who knows, with this amount of anons it's clear these guys have some connections or awesome terms to offer.
Another update: 1 more TBA, with like 100 wins in Proleague. Any guesses?

I don't think fantasy will retire, he's not fielded often in PL but that is because protoss and zerg are just the better races and SKT's line-up is incredibly stacked. Sorry ^^. Curious to see the players announced

the latter is the reason but i still maintain fantasy could have replaced dark in the finals lineup, if not for mentality issues.
In the previous season, we already saw some new faces (like (Z)Jy) make their debut but this time Love already promises us eight new ex-progamers who neverstreamed on Afreeca.
Can't be JangBi if the above part of Stratos quote is correct.
is Jy the zerg player that got nuked rushed by casy ?

This makes 3 TBAs for each race.
Is this inculding Winner's League? I think fanta could be around 100 wins (perhaps slightly above) in regular Proleague. Otherwise it could be Leta I guess? Maybe some old schooler?
Where does it say he no longer coaches? The 20th February entry says he became a coach + well, he was an KT bench in the PL semis, so his retirement now would be even more unlikely that Fantasy leaving.
Ah, I see, I misread because it has him under Former, I was thinking that meant former coach and thought something must have happened since February. It's only a list for former players, got it.
With the FanTaSy passworded channel and the 100 proleague wins thing my hype is through the roof, but I guess if I had to accept anyone else it'd have to be Leta since I don't see Flash retiring any time soon from SC2.
would this just be a one off thing for those unknown players.
because if it is i dont see them practicing a lot and their games might not be that great especially against the current afreeca players. (sort of like the foreigner BW Reunion tournament, where they play purely for nostalgia and laughs)
Imagine if one of those terrans is nada! :O Too bad that fantasy can't be real lol. I think leta is the likely terran. Flash isn't going to retire and has Code S (and possible streaming) in a week or two and Fantasy was carrying the SKT flag for last PL several days back. No way he retires right now, right after SKT lost lol.

Havent been following recently but players also all have like 4 accounts and smurfs
If theres some unknown player 2 port wraisu gosu I think we bump the odds of leta from 99% to 120% confirmed
Its definitely not NaDa or BoxeR for the Terrans because I believe that they've streamed before.
IloveOOV?
Leta?
Fantasy?
I think those players are the only Terran that have 100 wins in PL.
I definitely think it's Leta.
No way it's iloveoov. He's coacking SKT T1 in SCII. Fantasy was also there so I doubt it's him even though he may not be with SKT soon enough. Leta is the most likely imo.
lol ok are all those TBA really those who haven't streamed before? thats a lot of protoss. have we seen any afreeca players randomly losing to random account players these days?
edit: does horang2 counts? looks like he recently came out of military and have started afreeca streaming a bit.
"For all of you speculating about FanTaSy's retirement, Bisu said that there isn't even such a rumor on Korean boards and he guaranteed that FanTaSy is still practicing pretty despite not being in the line-up during last week's Proleague Finals." - Endy, after interviewing Bisu

Doesn't this just confirm it's Leta?
Pretty much, unless Flash goes into shock retirement haha.

Endy interviewed Bisu? When? I believe it's likely Leta as well.

What if Flash doesn't even retire And he plays in this tournament in his free time without practice And he wins Because he is Flash And he is unimpressed

would be something lol
Sounds like... typical Flash. Just wins... somehow.
No set date, but sOoL (main organizer) released an update, which I'll try to very freely (mobile sucks) sum up in:
~"First of I'm sorry about the delay, it is caused by the fact that unlike the first two seasons which were sponsored by me, this time we're dealing with another sponsor which makes things awkward.
Originally, the sponsorship was to kick in for the fourth season as the sponsor would observe the first three seasons, but I got greedy and wanted to start big with this season already. The final meeting is to happen, the amount of TBA players should play a big role. This season the star league will grow in scale considerably. There should be a change in the caster composition (t/n: I assume another caster joins Love, or just the fact that there's a person for obsing), and there's also talk about the league not being online, but offline (t/n: not sure how much of the league).
I work hard every day dealing with the sponsor and players to bring you the coolest season yet, so please wait a little while longer and show us your support."
Idk about u guys but I'm pretty pumped. Let's hope it all works out!

Yeah I'm pumped too:
LoveTV SL = MSL Sonic SL = OSL
Next thing you know, LoveTV and Sonic will jointly run a Proleague next year. That being said, I really don't see a lot of new blood, and with many star players joining the army, I still have mixed feelings. It's like the scene is growing and shrinking at the same time.
Personally I view the current afreeca scene as means for retired players to make some bucks at the transition period before joining military or finding a job, and as such it is working better than I could imagine. The final fan support ^^ At the same time, there's plenty of amateurs and even ex-pros who play with little or no monetary gain and are in it for the people and the fun and they're not going anywhere. That'll probably be the future, and I'm not really afraid of it, I look forward to it. But it'll take some time to get there and in that time we'll still be able to observe expros drill games for hours daily so there will sure be great games and tourneys to come. Just enjoy it and dont worry.

Would cool to see it that way though LoveTV SL is not on Sonic SL's level imo then again, MSL seemed to be considered the inferior SL by some people so I guess that works lol. Would also be nice to see a joint PL but I doubt that'll happen. I would be satisfied to see SSL continue indefinitely with prizes rivaling OSL with the usual and some new players for new blood. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever see things go back to KeSPA times in any degree but if we can have that one league that has a lot of participants (and some streaming), that might be enough for now.
i still wont say its pro by any chance, just a relatively large "amateur" scene. many of the afreeca streamers should have regular/parttime jobs in addition to streaming, so they still dont fully rely on afreeca balloons/tourney wins to make a living.
not to mention bw is still much more played than sc2 in korea based off pcbang stats. perhaps with more tourneys and bigger prizepools we might see a second bw coming, but with not many new players coming in these days I doubt it.
most of the expros still dedicate regular time for playing serious bw so they are still pretty hardcore about it.
