An official version of the currently ongoing Sonic ProLeague should begin mid-Januaryish alongside SSL9 and be (co-)casted by OGN's TheMarine and GoRush.
TheMarine and GoRush
The official ProLeague has been mentioned a few times already, but there are no details aside from the commentators who were recruited with the aid of none other than Kim Carrier. Since the ProLeague should be running alongside SSL9, we can deduce it will be played online, during the week. At least five of the teams that are currently playing under their former teams' names were earlier reported to be in the process of acquiring new sponsorship.
In addition to the ProLeague, SonicTV will begin hosting online Courage-like 128 players tournaments for amateurs and KeSPA licensed semi-pros. Sonic is thinking of hosting these monthly and aims to bring new, fresh talent to SoSPA.
The players will fight for: A chance to play in the official Sonic ProLeague. PC capable of Afreeca streaming sponsored by SonicTV/SBENU for the winner. SonicTV's agressive PR support. Amateurs are already playing in the current ProLeague as Sonic Team.
Ex-progamers will not be allowed to participate; semi-progamers and amateurs only. There will be no age restrictions.
Detailed schedule etc. is as of now not available. Casts of Ro4 onwards and perhaps some extra fun games seem likely but there are no details regarding that either.
T/N: These tournaments are not officially called Courage 2.0, but we'll call them that anyway, right?

They are ex-SKT, MBC, Hwaseung, KHAN and CJ, but the news is a bit old. If it's going to be an "official" ProLeague as stated I think it's quite likely all teams will have new sponsors. With the exposure these teams will get and the cost efficiency of the ProLeague I can see it happening!
Sonic is actually Mr BroodWar. Does he have extra hours in his day or something? Seriously I have no idea how he achieves all he achieves, but hats off to him. Because he does achieve it.

Sonic is free inside. Will he bring Brood War back to its past glory or will he go beyond? The question is not when's he gonna stop, but who is gonna stop him.
Looks like it's not going to be Blizzard. *Blizzard is going to be the naked bike chick ppl watch the movie (Vanishing Point) for.
It looks like the only organization to stop Sonic is going to be Kespa themselves. There will come a time when Kespa seek to devour SOSPA but I'm sure that Sonic would give them the middle finger to that.

Yeah, I really hope kespa stays away for all this. The people who should have a say on the future of the bw players is someone as passionate as the game as the players. Sonic and Kim Carry are perfect for this "new beginning".
I think Courage will be imperative for the scene to maintain itself. Great news. I hope Proleague gets a bit more professional with schedule and what not, the current one just feels like random clan wars more than an actual league.
Seeing how OGN isn't doing the SC2 Proleague this time around and with no OSL yet in sight, it's not surprising to see the OGN casters get their Starcaft fix through Sonic's leagues.
Just a year ago, there would have been 5, 8, maybe even 10+ if's about what would need to happen for a BW comeback. We are almost down to just one: "Is there enough new interest/talent to create and sustain newer players that can rise to current top player level in order to keep this revival from being a several year 'one off' occurance?"
this is nuts! Awesome news! Having a BW PL even with just 5 teams is great! Hope everything works out and the teams get new sponsors to continue the BW journey! :D

There is nothing KeSPA can do (without being reallllly shady, at least). KeSPA never had a monopoly on Brood War, but on their players, tournament production, and the like. Sonic is not using any of these, as he started with the amateur scene and now includes retired players.
Basically, SOSPA is doing what GOM should have done with Brood War if they really wanted to be have a Brood War league of their own. Sonic does get help from the fact KeSPA is full SC2 now, though.
We need to erect a statue of Sonic somewhere. Really happy to hear about courage, I am actually very interested to see new faces and to keep tabs on up and comers. Should be awesome.
Wouldn't mind a proper PL as well, with regular schedules. I just hope he has the technical side of things under control so we don't have huge unnecessary delays.

Not to be off topic but I am genuinely curious how they will police the leagues after everything that has happened. After all, Sonic already nearly quit because of SSL/SRT matchfixing in the past.

Sayle + Elegant are both in England.
Maybe they'll get paid as long as the finance can support it.
Maybe we can even set up donation!
They should host PL Saturday and SSL Sunday.
As for good production, I ain't asking much really, TLS's production was done really smoothly. Are you guys asking for a "professional" casting's desk with those submerged computer screens? That's unnecessary imo. Do you guys want to have a huge poster in the back of Sayle's apartment with sponsor's name and such? Well you guys have to ask him about it. All I'm asking is to have a donation box set up so that they'll at least get paid for it and to have an incredible league intro.
At this point, depending on what happens in the next 2 months, anything is possible. Until this system kicks off and we have great casts in English, I know that BW can sustain itself to time indefinite. I'll be glad to pay 10 dollars/month in order to have such production.

I just want basic good production that acknowledges the caster exists after the game and for them gain more income off us non koreans via twitch or something during advertisements, aswell as english stats/names/info, for our stream only, sure its not "needed", but its nice and not too difficult to pull off considering that simlpe shtuff actually does draw more people

Easiest way would be for sonic to dual broadcast and one of the streams be a non-overlayed version, then we can overlay English stuff very cleanly on top. As for stats and so on, either we work it out ourselves or he gives us that. It's a lot of extra work for him to do though.

I don't think some of this stuff will be doable at the start. It's definitely nice to have stats and such but I think he lacks manpower. I think with time, those things will eventually be added and he already knows about his foreign fans and the support during the difficult time that SSL/SRT went through so I doubt he'll forget about us. Really, time and as long as everything goes smoothly are the main factors

An exact schedule will be available after Sonic talks to Fish server master. Players will be signing up via a cafe/mail or something like that. So your best shot is finding someone who speaks Korean/has a working Korean ID and can do that for you.. I'm mostly a passive user who can't even access restricted fan-cafes etc. so I won't be of much help.

More than Obama! Looks like a great thing, but how comes ex-progamers aren't allowed while semi-progamers are? Sorry but this is a little confusing...
Courage tournaments were hosted for amateur players to get their progamer licenses and enter the progaming world. Currently SoSPA is dominated by ex-progamers and this is to motivate the rest and give them a chance. Semi-pros might have some kind of a KeSPA licensed status but their situation is pretty much the same as that of amateurs so no reason to exclude them.

Maybe the people who were active in the following thread could act as mediators? If anybody on TL has a good line to Korea, I'd expect it's them:
Korea best country!!! Im so glad that they managed to fight back blizzard and return to bw. Really, hooray for KOREA!!!
BTW, Sonic Team is an actual game development team, who made all of the sonic games since 1991 and as Sonic (the korean one) uses their mascot in his leagues now going official there could be some trade mark issues. I doubt though cuz SEGA is too cool of an company. It could be so great if SEGA start sponsoring Sonic bw Team, my favorite game company and my favorite game together :D Sonic make that happen!

I'm not sure how easy would it be for Sonic to send a computer from Korea to Hungary though, in case you win Sziky. Though it would be awesome if you finally got a computer that can stream ^^.
