To me it feels a bit weird for a large company like blizzard to promote a stream that isn't an official restream of ssl Noone says they're promoting snipe's restream specifically. They'll probably put up some news the day before the finals on their homepage/fb or something like that is what I'm imagining. Maybe they'll do more than that, i sincerely think Blizzard returning to BW like this means they may have finally came to terms with SC2 not being a good game
i'm very suspicious about this partnership and i'm very interested in how this coorporation was made.

Even if this is all just a PR ploy to get the BW players to stop hating Blizzard, it's already starting to work for me.

I can't wait to see what's going on here. This is too much to take in at once. I'm in shock...

ick, god please no. It'd probably end up being like SSF2HD, a completely different and entirely inferior game from SF2. I just know david kim would pull a sirlin.

And worst of all, they wouldn't do it for free. They would remove lan from the game to prevent piracy and force us on bnet 2.0 ugh... Let's hope it's just a PR move to try improve their image on korea so their new dota clone has a chance to have a 1/4 the succes lol is having.
Damn sonic, all the secrecy and this was a bit underwhelming. When he said today would be more impactful and how today woongjin disbanded, it got me hyped somehow they would come back to bw, but well... too naive I guess.

As long as its just a graphics makeover (changing nothing else gamewise), i'd gladly play on bnet 2.0. The amount of new players would breathe (more) life into the scene. Guess I'm just a naive idealist

Oh ma-fuh gah-wd. We all knew that the lineup was gonna be stacked, but the caster-bonjwa himself being involved was news to me at least. It's also really cool that Sonic managed to hook a new sponsor. Between all of that and the amazing offline-venue, I think it's fair to say that this will be the best SSL yet Also, Sonic's commitment to BW never ceases to amaze me. Besides getting hyped, his announcements also always make me feel intensely grateful. (BROMANCE <3)
Also, blizz being ... WAIT WHAT? Blizzard being supportive of a BW-event? o_O That seems almost too good to be true... I doubt that this is part of some greater (evil) scheme on their end, but I do wonder what caused this sudden change in approach.
+ Show Spoiler +PS: Note how I almost made it through an entire post in an SSL-announcement thread without using caps-lock for emphasis. Almost.

Why is Blizzard involved in promoting this? What do they even have to gain from this?

Any promotion is good promotion. We should be glad that Blizzard is putting this on their sites to gain viewership.

At this point, there's nothing to be gained for Blizz by being anti-BW. Sonic isn't going to move to SC2, and it's not like everyone will return their SC2 copies. Blizz prob wants to support both games now, and get good PR for helping BW instead of bad press for fighting it. It's good news for BW, either way.

Y'know, one way Blizzard could kill BW is by releasing some bad patches. But I think this is probably just a positive thing and there's nothing nefarious behind it. It's cool that they're supporting BW again though! Sonic deserves the honor for keeping it alive during its rough time. Smooth sailing from here! ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif)
Cool sponsor too.

(There is precedent for this too.)
