I am not happy at all that professional Brood War is over. I hate to admit it as much as anyone, but I have to face the facts that from now on no one will be playing professionally, no one will be dedicating their lives to it.. I will still play it with friends as long as I have a computer that will run it, and yes there are other tournaments around now, but there is no way you can argue that BW will ever be the same. Maybe I have given up hope earlier than some of you, but I have seen first hand how even the most committed BW lovers in the industry, the casters, the producers, the players... the people who have been making BW an industry in Korea for 13 years, who started it from the ground up with no money, just sheer grit and passion... don't see any way forward and are moving on to other things. So I have been forced to accept it. This saddens me also... maybe you guys only know me from GSL, but I casted Brood War for 4 years, over 1500 videos, as well as live casts in the middle of the night, fucking thousands of hours spent trying to help others be able to enjoy Brood War like I did (for free btw). I still think it's the best game as I have played it for 12 years now, myself.. it has been the tie that bound me to friends since I started and when I found out about the Korean pro scene it has been my main hobby and passion since then. There's no way I meant to disrespect BW. But what do you do when someone close to you dies? You are sad, of course, you mourn.... but you also try to find meaning in their death. You despair if you don't... You try to think about the great memories you have of that person, and try to appreciate how their life has affected the world for the better. So how am I choosing to deal with the fact that I will never see the likes of Flash, Jaedong, Stork, Bisu, etc etc perform the art that was their Brood War play again? I can never be happy about it, so I am choosing to at least try to see the silver lining... Part of why I was attracted to Korean progaming in the first place was because of how novel a culture it was... how awesome it was that nerds were popular and sex symbols. That nerds in Korea had people to look up to, something to aspire to. This is why I am glad that eSports is growing around the world. And so I am showing respect to Brood War for the fact that it was such a great fucking game that it has basically single-handedly made eSports possible in Korea which has become a precedent for the world. I am appreciating what it has done for the world, how it has made the world a better place. I'm sorry I apparently offended some people in the way I worded this. But I never meant to disrespect Brood War, only to appreciate what it has given us.

Broodwar(heart) is beating in my chest... Sonic is running SSL at korea, with some ex-progamers, at TL are many tours and leagues running, getting casted by peoples and even more will coming up.... At this point i have the feeling, since the less kespa does bw, the more the people try to keep brood war alive... so i see alot of people dedicating their live to this wonderful game.

But I never meant to disrespect Brood War, only to appreciate what it has given us. It's obvious what you mean with your post, don't try to twist it around now. Contrary to what you implied, sc2 is not building on anything, blizzard nearly completely ignored BW gameplay when designing sc2. Together with savior, they killed the Korean BW scene that was still very much alive, with lots of potential. Unlike sc2 at the time, hence why blizzard needed to force the transition. Sc2 is feeding on BW's corpse that's still warm. If it wasn't for blizzard, sc2 would've been in BW's place in Korea now... No offence, but you sold out and will try to promote sc2 like all the other people who sold out, pretending it's a worthy successor, ignoring all the glaring gameplay flaws, getting your pants wet over things that by true StarCraft standards are at best "meh".

Ignore moletrap. He always watched BW and barely played it unlike the rest of us. He loves SC primarily for the scene and not for the beauty of the real time strategy game (which while it is annoying, is not a crime). Sc2 maintains and expands the scene so I couldn't think of a reason he would possible grieve over the death of BW except to fit in more with the others who have a reason to be upset.
