Also people frequently ask for games there and I managed to make a few awesome practice buddies. Rough translation: "2010 was a very good year for Sverok, they had about 175.000 members in the age of 7-25 and 1042 eligible associations. And now at the summary of year 2011 we see a great downfall and expect there to be around 120.000 young members and 879 associations." Basically they've had a huge drop in members and groups over the course of recent year.

We know english too, no worries! So yeah make sure you join in.
On Iccup I'd recommend channel 'op teamliquid' to meet fellow players.

Well what it said was that it looks like the amount of people in the organization looks like it's going to decrease from 175 000 to 120 000. Maybe we will get a better deal next year because of this, but overall what it means is that gaming, roleplaying etc. is decreasing among people.
About a channel? Why don't we get a channel on ICCUP? Can't hurt "op SBWI" seems like the given name.
@ Abjurer: How about you get to be in charge of the Gothenburg section? Hosting get-togethers down there? We really need to get someone in both Gothenburg and Malmo, so we can have sections in all bigger Swedish cities. Kinda like any respectable pyramid scheme (kidding). Then new members can go straight to you, you get their contact information and tell them about events when they happen. In the beginning this will just be about hosting evenings with beer and a TV. I've been doing this in Stockholm with the phone numbers to the people in the Stockholm and Uppsala area, just texting them all what's up.
They usually look something like this:
"SBWI Brood Bar at my place (How to get there by public transportation, 6 min from the Central Station) at 19:00. Bring cash for beer. Prices: bad beer: 10 kr, good beer: 15 kr. Excess money goes to financing chips for next time. "
Then people just show up and we have a good time

no, it's 120 000 people being part of this government funding program instead of 175 000. Read it again

If you guys want SBWI tournaments or smth I can always help hosting.

Yeah about that... I managed to crash my computer while playing around with recovery partitions... Now I'm back into linux, and have at least gotten my computer running again. However getting BW to run well on ICCUP seem rather hard. Hopefully it'll be up until next time.

Wow, you are running linux. I thought nobody here plays BroodWar in linux except me.
|
Actually, I've been playing on linux exclusively and apart from pulseaudio it's been working fine. What exactly is your problem, Jaevlaterran? Maybe we should start a separate thread to talk about these things. I could also share my streaming setup with mplayer... :D

Using this thread because creating a new one seems unnecessary, hope it's not too off topic.
Just want to give a note to swedish players, we're creating a clan for all the oldschoolers and starting a new head channel with the same name as good old Brood War SWE-1 and the team tag is [SWE-1] http://www.iccup.com/starcraft/teams/64325.html So if you're swedish and want to remember the old days, head over to the channel. And if you are good enough (maybe C+/B- and above) you can join!
I will also tell everyone in the clan about SBWI and hope more people join in!
--------------------------------- Med vänliga hälsningar.

Awesome! I am planning to be hanging in the SBWI channel on sunday to practice with any D/ unranked players willing to.
