Bisu was unable to attend today's progamer education seminar due to enteritis.
On 16th April, Bisu developed a stomachache and went to a clinic for treatment. As a result, he was not able to attend the 2012 First-Half progamer education seminar on 17th April at Seoul Cyber University. According to SKTelecom: "Bisu wanted to attend the education seminar but because of a severe stomachache, he could not go."
According to Fomos, 163 players attended the seminar, out of which 139 currently belong to pro-teams, 11 are teamless players and 13 were new registrants. After the seminar finished, these 13 players officially qualified as progamers.
I think that there are more players that misses such seminars, but usually only the famous ones gets mentioned. Take that Bisu, suffer for beating KT!!

They listen to speeches by industry people (eg. commentators) and guest speakers from other sports, learn stretching exercises & how to take care of their health, how to be professional, to foster teamwork and have a fighting spirit, do surveys and participate in quizzes etc etc.

I bet veterans (wow - little Bisu actually counts as a veteran by now!) have discovered that this seminar is pretty much the same each year, so they don't actually learn anything new really at this point. So it's a waste of time for them ^_-. Basically, they are probably only there to assist the newbies with numbers, but for a dozen newbies who even needs a hundred vets.

Isn't this one of those dumb career learning activity type things?
If i were a progamer, i'd try to think of any excuse to miss this event. Unless there is something important they do that i don't know about of course.

He still has to attend the make-up session since he missed the original seminar. So it's not like Bisu can completely skip the seminar by faking an illness. Maybe if he had some tournament to practice for then I'd probably think he was giving an excuse but Bisu's out of the OSL, so this time he could possibly be unwell.

I'm new to BW, don't you need to be given a license by your team / win a Courage to qualify as a progamer? Does going through this seminar work as well?

No, this is after they've been drafted into teams. It's just a mandatory seminar that the new progamers have to sit through before their progamer status becomes official.

maybe next year bisu will be earning it in sc2 ace match, if they combine the leagues? I know those are the rumors. I don't see him switching, or this happening, though. It's probably, in all likelihood, fake.
Perhaps one of those 13 new registrants will be able to use the enteritis excuse one day.

I have no idea about korean culture for the most part, but I guessed that as soon as I read the article. Especially after reading that someone else missed it last year (an equal and/or more prominent figure(s)), and was like... yeah, they just didn't want to go.
