Team 8: “We prepared strategies with a mind to win”
With a string of strategic plays, Team 8 beat SK Telecom T1 in just 53 minutes. Jaedong’s 5pool, Tyson’s 3gate all in rush, and Jaehoon’s quick zealot reaver attack took down Ssak, Bisu, BeSt. Team 8: “with a mind to win no matter what, our strategies ran away with the match from set 1.”
Q: You followed up your complete loss with a complete win. Jaehoon: In the last match, I felt bad for my teammates because I lost so fast. If I’d won, the momentum might have been different.
Q: Were you guys expecting a 3-0 Tyson: Our team has a lot of strong players, so I thought as long as I won, it’d be a 3-0. Jaehoon: With the score at 2-0, I was sure I could make it 3-0.
Q: You prepared a 5pool today Jaedong: I thought it might be good to use it once in a while. Honestly, right before the match I almost changed my mind, but my coach reassured me. I was single-minded from then on. And because I had good luck with starting positions I was able to win.
Q: How does it feel to win with such surprise tactics Jaedong: It always feels good to win. Because it ended so quickly I feel unfulfilled, but the win feels good like any other win.
Q: Your strategies seemed really prepared Jaehoon: You could tell we’d prepared a lot. As soon as I spawned at 9, I thought I’d won. It gave me confidence because Chain Reaction has a lot of income imbalance in starting locations. We were stressed out polishing and honing them countless times. Tyson: Although I mentioned Kal in the tv interview, I didn’t learn it from him, but our ex-teammate Lazy. We made it together, then Kal helped us refine it through practice. I want to thank both players.
Q: Did you have any worries about facing Bisu Tyson: I played it with my eyes shut, flat-out assuming no dt builds. I played thinking I’d win no matter what happened. Jaehoon: I think you did a good job of it (laughs).
Q: You play STX next. Jaehoon: STX has really strong momentum right now. Last and mini are pretty good but if Jaedong takes out their ace Bogus I can see them falling. Tyson: I’ll go in trusting Jaedong. Jaedong: It doesn’t matter to me who I face. The important thing is to win no matter who it is.
Q: Anything you want to say. Jaehoon: I was going to do something for my mother’s birthday on Jan. 29, but I forgot. I was always sorry I had never sent her a present or said thank you [t/n tsk tsk, Jaehoon]. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to her. Tyson: It feels good to take down the mighty SKT1. We’ll close out round 2 by beating STX as well. Jaedong: Compared to other teams, it feels like our fans are the most vocal and passionate. Although we’re in last place right now, I want to pay back their embarrassment by slowly climbing up the rankings and reaching the post season.

Yeah I'm interested in the income imbalance too, I assume it has something to do with mineral alignment and pathing making that starting position much more advantageous, i.e you can get your timing much better earlier with fewer probes or something like that.
I remember GGplay commenting on income imbalance on Python back in the day (where he beat Iris anyway). I guess when you practice on a single map thousands of times, you begin to pick up on such things.

Why did he cancel a drone then >_>
Thanks for the translation!
I think regardless of the Drone cancelling, a 5 pool will still work.

Drone cancelling is just showmanship and to alert the commentators/audience to the fact that he's going to be cheesing Since cancelling units doesn't make you lose resources it makes no difference.

Wow... sayle was actually right about team8 coach.
what did he say?
Sayle has said a couple times in his casts something along the lines of: "I wonder if the Team 8 coach has just told his team to cheese every game, as they keep losing terribly when they play straight up games." Not an actual quote by any means, but you get the idea
Thanks a lot for the translations, it's much appreciated!

well to be fair they did end up getting cheesed themselves in a lot of those "straight up" games

And nobody would ever call him cheesy because of his accomplishments. Can you imagine if Shine 5 pooled Bisu? That kid would be locked in protective custody.

I'm a Khan fan and I'd still approve of locking up that cheeser! Rawr!
Thanks for translation, hope T8 will bring all of us good news soon.
