(Z)Neo.G_Soulkey "(Z)ZerO still our ace"

"This is a game of TvZ to go down the books!"

That is what OGN Caster Kim exclaimed during the game. The gameplay that Neo.G_Soulkey showed against (T)Bogus was enough to blow anybody's mind. It was textbook play for how a Zerg can beat a Terran lategame.

Neo.G_Soulkey's management was perfect. By bringing the match to the fifth set when the team was down 1:2, he is developing more and more into Woongjin's ace player.

Q You were the only one to win twice in a row. You must be happy.
A We all prepared together, but I was the only one that won both games, so I feel bad. However I'm happy today because the team won. I don't have any doubt that other players will play well in the future.

Q Your team's morale must have suffered after losing to Samsung KHAN.
A It wasn't bad. We cheered each other up and encouraged ourselves to practice hard, and that really brought us together. However, there was a lot of pressure to win this match.

Q You were sent out on the brink of your team losing.
A I felt like I was sent out for an ace match (laughs). On top of the pressure of having to save the team, I was worried because my opponent was a Terran user. It doesn't help that he's also STX Soul's ace (laughs). For some odd reason, when I play ZvT, I feel much more pressured to deliver spectacular games than when I play other match-up's. People around me say I have strong ZvT, which just adds to that pressure (laughs).

Q Many are moving towards deeming you Woongjin's ace.
A I'm not there yet. Zero couldn't adjust to the broadcasted match environment, so he lost 2 games, but he has proven time and time again to be clutch when the team is in trouble. However, remember that I said 'I'm not there yet' (laughs).

Q Caster Kim complimented your game play to no end.
A I felt so proud after the game was over. It was a come-back win and I felt like I had produced a spectacular game myself (laughs).

Q You started off last season with a 9-win streak [T/N: I don't believe this is true, somebody correct me if it is], but overall there were a lot of up's and down's.
A I'm no longer the same Neo.G_Soulkey. It wasn't that I played better [at the beginning], but it was more that I was lucky. However, now I am winning through skill. I feel like I can keep up a good showing. Feel free to expect great things from me.

Q Do you see yourself as an aggressive or passive player.
A I want to be good at both (laughs). Both are necessary to claim the Zerg throne (laughs).

Q Your goals this season.
A The number of games were reduced vastly, so even if I won all of my games, it would only be 21 wins, which is regrettable. I just want to win around 70% of my games. I feel like I should get at least 15 wins if I want our team to make it to playoffs.

Q Anything you want to say to Zero.
A Don't let the losing streak overcome you. I hope you don't go into a mental slump for going on a losing streak like you did in the past. If you do, you'll lose your position as our ace to me, so I hope you win your next match (laughs).

Q Any last words.
A (P)sHy, who just joined our team, won a game that was critical to our team's victory. I thank him, and I hope our fans will cheer for him as well.

* Fomos has the Korean interview with Light. OpticalShot will probably translate it within the next few days. For those of you who can read Korean. Some interesting things from Light's interview without revealing too much:
-Light's TvP isn't that great because his vulture usage is not up to par.
-He says Neo.G_Soulkey's play style becomes increasingly irritating as the game progresses, because his late game ZvT is so good.
-It looks like DES and FOMOS are interviewing players separately, because Light said he felt bad that Neo.G_Soulkey didn't get an interview despite his spectacular game, but DES clearly interviewed him.

edit:: Light's interview

Thanks for the translation. Glad Shy is able to contribute to the team and getting recognition from his teammates.

It's okay Zero, I still love you and think you're the currently the best zerg in the world <3.

Pretty standard interview answers - polite, modest and neutral. My favourite part:

For some odd reason, when I play ZvT, I feel much more pressured to deliver spectacular games than when I play other match-up's. People around me say I have strong ZvT, which just adds to that pressure (laughs).

Oddly funny LOL. Thx for translation!! ^^

I'm getting really worried that they plan to use (P)sHy regularly in their lineup. Hope it's just a temporary thing.

Soulkey has stopped being "mean" to Zero and is trying to cheer him up instead, their dynamic has clearly changed with Soulkey becoming better and better. Pretty cool, very similar to JD & Killer. In both cases, the disciples have better ZvZ than the masters...

amazing game by Soulkey, truly the best ive seen this season, Soulkey is the best Turtle zerg, his defense is simply unbreakeable. I'm hoping for an interview with Shy aswell, Oz rookie got picked up.

also I wonder how Light's interview went

''they send a zerg so I rolled him''.

Close games nevertheless today, really impressed by Mini aswell, his rookie performance was excellent, super good reaver control and storm dodging too.

that fourth and third game made up for all of the mirrors today.

With Zero, Light and Soulkey, Woongjinn really is a spectacularly talented team. Three such strong players. The only thing they're lacking to take them really far this season is depth. If free recovers his form of the past, they're as strong as any other team out there.

Why are you so worried? Shy has great potential and he needs experience, better do it early in the season than late!

I think they meant round 5. Since round 4 was WL format, it's somewhat of a start of a new "season", and Soulkey was perfect in that round up till the loss in the ace game of the last match against (coincidentally) Bogus.

hmm weird. i tried looking it up myself and he did indeed have a winstreak but it was nowhere near the beginning of the season. Also it was 10-wins, not 9. I could not find anything at the beginning of the season that could have led the reporter to believe Neo.G_Soulkey had a 9-win streak. He didn't even get 9 wins in round 1, he went 7-3 lmao. The article definitely says "a 9-win streak in round 1 of last season," though lol

Mini's play was indeed amazing after his shaky early game (Compared to most progamers). Hopefully he was just nervous at the start of the game since he is new and he becomes a really good player.

I think sHy has a lot of potential. I wasn't really happy with the loss to Reality, but I think a lot of it is due to being a newer player. I noticed that, which seemed odd, his goon micro is much much better than his reaver micro (though his storm-dodging needs help). I think he'll be fine.

I always knew Soulkey had a lot of potential. You can see from the interview he already feels quite satisfied with himself though. Nothing wrong with pride, but he seems more proud of what he has accomplished than what he will accomplish, which suggests he may fall into a complacency slump soon if he's not careful. This is probably the first time it will really hit him, just how good he's become, and that in itself is always a test which I hope to see him pass gracefully.

i feel like bogus' mech play is really good, and that flash actually shines a lot more with bio play and not mech play. not saying flash has worse mech play than bogus, but I think he's a lot scarier to zergs if he stays on bio.

i feel like that game proved that it's just disadvantageous to open up mech instead of bio in modern TvZ (at least in 2 player maps where it's too hard to split the map). transitioning to mech is great, but you need that early bio to keep zerg from taking too many bases. whens the last time a terran opened mech on a 4 player map and actually won?
