Very nice interview, he is the reason I got into BW vods. I watched the 2010-2011 Batoo OSL finals live earlier this year, but it wasn't fun at all, I dond't understand the league, and had know idea about the strategies, it was a train wreck. So a couple of days later I searched youtube for an english commentary, and boom I found Nuke. So I watched the finals, then that whole OSL, then the 2008 Incruit OSL, then the 2009 Batoo and Bacchus OSL, soon I'm gonna start the reign of Flash vods, I'm looking for older OSL, MSL and proleague matches, I have a ton of vods, TL pages and shit bookmarked to check out later. I blame you, Nuke!
Great idea, great interview, Nukethestars seems to be a really nice guy =) For other idea, Sayle, moktira, Ver and some of the writing staff come to my mind. Oh and TPLDer/liquipedia people of course ! Edit : but only interview Ver when he has finished to write his Final Edit :p
Deserved recognition. You've been around a long time.
<3 I feel like soulmates. Best July was the game that stole my heart too. Khan for life ofc as well. This dabbling with Bisu though is disturbing... but I suppose it's hard just being a samsung toss fan at times.
Heh. Seems like all good games are ones which involve fantasy beatdowns.
"NTS: There's a certain charm in everything about the game. I see a lot of people put down Brood War's graphics and say things like "I wish they'd make BW with SC2's graphics!" I completely disagree. Brood War's visuals are great because they're so abstract. My idea of what a zergling looks like is wildly different than anyone else's, that's due to the fact that Brood War allows you to use your imagination a bit. Economy of expression is important in games, and I think it's been all but lost in the most recent generation. Brood War says exactly what it needs to say. Nothing more. Nothing less. The animations are simple and tight and carry visual weight.
Thats a great quote, kinda catches the whole disappointment of the new era of games. I enjoyed maybe 2 - 4 games post 2004-2005 era i guess. The whole 3d shift in some genres were so off. Great answer. And great interview, i like him, he has also very pleasent voice to listen to.
No longer watching BW really (except individual finals live) so haven't heard much of Nuke. I very much enjoyed the commentaries until sc2 release though for a few years of OSL. To anyone who's interested in watching BW in english, very easy to recommend Nuke.
I personally loved the Ro8 (doing this off memory) hype video with all the paper cut-outs of all the players. That one was great Props to you Nuke! Been a long time subscriber and I absolutely love your commentaries!
I've never been big fan of english commentary over korean games but he sounds like cool, funny, guy so I shall give it a try with next OSL. I like his view on graphics in BW, and I'm big fan of Deus Ex aswell :D
Nuke if you read this you're a legend. In my opinion you're the best BW commentator simply because if your relaxed personality and obvious love of the game. It was pretty much a direct result of your commentaries that I became such a big fan of BW and I continue to listen to them to this day. Always entertaining and laid back, you're awesome nuke!
