If someone is interested in me uploading it, I could reinstall the pt-br version and extract the sounds, just point me to where I should upload. (And BTW, I never knew the game actually used the folders when they were extracted, I always though that they were there just to get the .wavs from the mpq). Yes please!!! That would be so great. You can use megaupload or massmirror or zshare for uploading the sounds. So far we have quite a nice collection, don't you think? :D

You need to extract the folders from the .mpq file, using the tool provided by blizzard themselves in this link: http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/broodwar/SOUNDS/BWSoundUtility.zip This one is for Broodwar only, but you can go to the battle.net site and get the other one if you wish. The tool will extract everything to the installation path of starcraft.

I bought SC/BW in the Blizzard Shop and downloaded the install file, so that's probably the reason it doesn't work. Too bad :/ Which language do you have installed and which language are your sounds in? Have you downloaded a different language version and put the Sound folder in your sc directory? Did it work? I guess the downloadable sc version is kind of different but the sounds must be stored somewhere either way.

I just have a 600mb mpq file, but no Sound folder and the utilities didn't do anything. Guess I'll find out if I can just download different language installations, thanks for the hint. Initially when you install sc with the regular discs you don't have a sound folder. Only after extracting it with the utility, a new folder appears. So, you can still try to download a different sound pack and simply put the "Sound" folder in your sc directory. If that doesn't work then you probably cannot change your sounds. =O

Here is the download link: [url blocked] On March 04 2010 13:20 Nal_rAwr wrote: aw man are there like language mods that are better than english? I personally think the original English voices are MUCH better in every respect in comparison with any other language pack. It deeply frustrates me to hear the Brazilian translators mistake "Wraith" with "right". It's just disgusting. "Right! Waiting launch orders" instead of "Wraith waiting lauch orders." And the even worse one from the vulture: "Alright! Bring it on!" to what would translate to English again as "Everything ok, bring this here." since the expression means nothing in Portuguese.
