Its somewhat fitting that the thing that finally beats the Ultimate Weapon is the upper limit of repetitive hand movement, as if saying that Flash is as good as any squishy bag of meat and bones can ever get.

... as far as economy based RTS is concerned anyway.

An article in Fomos said that Flash ate some Tylenols before group A because of the pain in his wrist. In the same article, the KT coach also said that since KT's spot in post-season is secured as third place, he'll stop using Flash and make him concentrate on healing his wrist.

if the KT coach had any sense of humanity in him, he would force flash to take a vacation/long break. Getting his wrists that fucked up at that age will probably have lasting effects for him later even after his SC career.

Those proficient in the area claim that carpal tunnel is not an actual repetitive stress injury, i.e you have a predisposition (which hasn't shown itself yet) for it, or you don't. It's not something you "get" per se. Nevertheless Flash definitely has a RSI of some kind.

According to the link below,
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001469/
"Carpal tunnel syndrome is common in people who perform repetitive motions of the hand and wrist. Typing on a computer keyboard is probably the most common cause of carpal tunnel."

By the way does anyone know how to embed Youtube video here?

1) Carpal tunnel syndrome is common in people who perform repetitive motions of the hand and wrist.
2) Typing on a computer keyboard is probably the most common cause of carpal tunnel.

The risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome is not confined to people in a single industry or job, but is especially common in those performing assembly line work - manufacturing, sewing, finishing, cleaning, and meat, poultry, or fish packing. In fact, carpal tunnel syndrome is three times more common among assemblers than among data-entry personnel.

What I said in my original post - while repetitive activities may exacerbate symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome they do actually not cause it.

This is proven in many studies, for example by the Harvard Medical School ("Harvard Medical School Hands: Strategies for strong, pain-free hands"

Read about it here: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/02/060206233655.htm

A 2001 study by the Mayo Clinic found heavy computer use (up to 7 hours a day) did not increase a person's risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome.

http://www.gustrength.com/injury:does-computer-work-cause-carpal-tunnel-epedimiology (Summary of several studies). Read conclusion.

http://jama.ama-assn.org/content/289/22/2963.abstract (included in the summary on gustrength.com)

Another interesting study on carpal tunnel disproving the role of computer usage in casuality, proving structural, genetic, biological factors being cardinal. Repetitive hand use is shown to be a lesser and more arguable factor.

http://www.jhandsurg.org/article/S0363-5023(08)00008-7/abstract

Glad you brought it up, but please do your research before attempting to discredit something which you lack knowledge of unless you want an unnecessary debate. Thanks!

I've always enjoyed seeing someone take down Flash because it tends to be a very good game, but I agree I don't want to see him go down like this... Hope he gets better :/

Sounds like Flash has severe wrist tendinitis. The Korean articles mention that its an issue with the muscle. He has had his wrist checked on previously and there has never been any nerve issues or mention of possible CTS. If anything, it would be Flash's left hand that would get CTS since most of his APM is done with his left hand. I don't know if Flash has previously gotten cortisone injections, but that will probably be the first thing they do seeing how severe his condition is.

Hope the best for Flash. Would hate to see another Terran Bonjwa fall to this

At this point I think taking a rest from PL is a given, and according to some of the posts above it seems that the coach has already decided to do that.

The real question is will be stay in the OSL? The drawn out structure means that he wouldn't have to play that often, but then again if he's resting and not practicing then he probably wouldn't go very far anyway. And if he happened to run into a long drawn out boX TvT series then it would probably kill him =/

It's unfortunate - I really feel for Flash...
The injury is irreversible, but one can only hope otherwise.

Remember, flash has often gone into games doing barely any practice. the kid is insanely talentedm he can win off the bat all he needs is a few warm up games the same day or yesterday
Aah thats the stuff..

If his wrists gets hurt too bad to play BW at the top level, he can always play sc2 and win everything.

But seriously he better be ok... best player of all time can't go out like this.
