Jaedong was unable to attend the 2011 first-half progamer re-education seminar on the 13th because he had a high fever due to enteritis. Caught enteritis on the night of the 12th, fever went up to 39 degrees, went to the hospital for treatment. Will have a makeup session later.

‘Tyrant’ Jaedong(Hwaseung Oz) was unable to attend the 2010 first-half progamer re-education seminar.
Coach Han, who leads Hwaseung players and visited the seminar site, said “I visited the hospital this morning because Jaedong was diagnosed with enteritis,” and added that “he won't be able to participate [in the seminar] due to his health conditions,” clarifying why Jaedong was absent.
Currently professional gamers must attend the bi-annual re-education seminars to maintain their progaming licenses, so Jaedong, in order to keep his license, must make up for his absence.
Kespa states that “missing a seminar without a proper excuse is unacceptable” and added that “but in the case of Jaedong, with an official doctor's note he will most likely be given the chance to make it up at a later date.”
The make-up session for the re-education seminar for the first half of 2010 is scheduled on April 7th.
It's pretty common in Korea and it's not severe, so he should be fine soon =[
-edit edit- To be honest, I'm pretty sure that it was an exaggeration to get out of the seminar. A lot of the progamers are absent during these things, and their excuses are always... eh. It's a really boring seminar, and the progamers probably don't want to lose practice time to stuff like this.
I seriously, seriously doubt that it has to do with Group D though.
It must be one of those situation or times where you magically and automatically get sick because you don't want to go to school that happens like few times a year. Not saying that's an excuse but I just find it funny since it all seems too...... suspicious... (hence the point the OP made on his post)
Get well soon Lee Jae Dong! Kick the god damn bowel inflammation in the face! Hope you'll still be able to kick Flash's, Bisu's and Sea's ass the 21st!

Just what I was thinking. It's gotta be one of those "special treatment" for football stars paradigm. In reality, I hope he gets better. I want everyone to be at there best when Bisu wins!
I think enteritis is like automatic when you have a rough SC week/month ahead of you :S Boxer with a tough Code A path and has to play Sen in the TSL and Jaedong is in the infamous JFB group

It's just... progamer stuff.
This session had talks on.. - team & leadership - health - speech from a basketball coach about being a professional - "dream building" - how to respond to media etc. etc.
Why is it that everyone who goes to Korea gets sick?
Boxer gets sick. Jaedong gets sick. Ret got sick. Huk got sick. Tasteless and Artosis got sick at different times. TT1 got sick. Violet... I hope he gets well soon.
Hope Jaedong gets better. Hopefully, he'll be able to break his April slump curse despite his illness.

How the hell do you fake a 39 degree fever and fool whatever hospital you're going to?
There are ways of artificially increasing body temperature. Some drugs (both legal and illegal) have that effect. It's also possible that certain household cleaning products in low doses have those effects. (Don't try this at home...)

To be honest, I thought this was a necrobump from last year's thread for some reason hahaha
Yeah, somthing like that. Their schedule is so tight anyway that he probably better stay practice than go doing this bullshit. Even from the point of view of a coach it makes sense. I mean, does jaedong needs "dream building" (lol!) sessions?
Maybe he always gets enteritis because he doesn't like to Enter in re-education seminars. Good luck in Group D(He might catch enteritis again if he would refuse to enter the booth).

And this fools hospitals by...what? Giving yourself a temporary fever isn't that hard. Getting a hospital that is actively treating you to diagnose you with enteritis from this is much, much harder.
The most convincing way you can do it is to just give yourself enteritis by deliberately eating contaminated food...which falls into the category of "not faking".
entiritis is food and stress related so I guess its a combination of both issues that led him to be sick. I hope he gets better soon. I know what its like and it sucks you cant eat and you cant get out of bed and you lose weight you feel exhausted.
Faking an illness to get more practice time while simultaneously lulling your opponents into a false sense of security: the highest level of high level mind games.

Must be a horrible seminar for Jaedong to stoop to this level ^^

Um, it's not that hard to get a doctor's note here...

I'm not surprised that foreigner's get sick. It's not an innate ability to be immune to germs/diseases from other parts of the world (history can tell you all about that).
Plus the population density is some of the highest in the world.

Heheh, I don't know what to say to this. It seems oddly coincidental that he would get the same sickness at around the same time missing the same event. Oh well, I'm sure I'm just being paranoid.

Yeah, I think statistically April is the worst month for JD.
Quit assuming he's faking it! He was hospitalized?! Boxer couldn't fly to dreamhack because of it, and now JD has gone ill, this isn't some nonissue although its not life-threatening.

I never said he was hospitalized... o_o
I thought you said in the OP that he had to go to the hospital for treatment....
when you put 30 million people in a really dense and have pro gamers who usually don't exercise enough in an area this is what happens. Also, foriegners get sick more because their immune system isin't used to all the different variations of viruses.

Going for treatment and being hospitalized are two completely different things.

Whoops. I wasn't sure from the OP whether he was in the hospital for more than 1 day or not.

Have you seen JD's body? The man definitely exercises...haha
