I have never really played the old one but this looks very interesting. I am kinda curious how was the match playing done? Was there any interactivity or was it just a matter of setting your players and it plays out automatically?

You set out the players you want for each map (although in winners league you just pick 4 players in order to play), when the match starts there is some txt you can read of whats happening, and 2 bars for each player. 1 represents army size the other represents resources (either on the map or the amount the player has on hand cant remember). Its nothing "exhilarating" but a lot of the fun is in the mental chess match and trying to snipe each others aces, and also developing your players.
