Q 연패하면서 고참으로써 책임감도 느꼈을 것 같다.
A 사실 나는 플러스 시절에도 꼴지를 해봤고, 르까프 갓 창단 때도 연패하면서 꼴찌 해봤고, 공군에서도 꼴찌를 많이 겪어봐서 이런 경우를 잘 안다. 하지만 다른 선수들은 이런 게 처음이라 잘 몰라서 너무 침체돼 있고 좌절을 많이 하더라. 나는 공군에 있을 때도 최선을 다하고 보여주는 경기를 하자는 긍정적인 마인드를 가졌고, 그래서 화이팅할 수 있었다. 다만 코칭스태프도 정말 열심히 선수들을 지도하고 선수들도 열심히 연습하는데 성적이 이렇게 안 나오니까 그 부분이 속상했다. 언제든지 올라갈 수 있다는 생각은 가지고 있으니 잘할 수 있다고 생각한다. 그리고 요즘에 느끼지만 (이)제동이 팬이 그새 많이 늘었는지 항상 우리팀 응원소리가 크다. 힘이 많이 된다(손을 번쩍 들며 끼어든 이제동=나도 그렇게 생각한다. 어떤 리그를 하든 팬들 응원소리가 커서 정말 큰 힘이 된다).
공군에서도 멤버들 인기가 장난이 아니라 할 때마다 우렁찬 응원소리가 힘이 됐다. 화승도 이렇게까지 팬이 많을줄 몰랐다. 예전에 르까프 시절에는 6~7명이 앞에서 응원하는 그런 경우가 허다했는데(이 대목에서 옆에 있던 이제동이 웃음을 터뜨렸다) 군대 갔다오니 많이 달라져있었다. 경기 할때마다 이렇게 많은 팬들이 응원하는데 지면 안되겠다는 생각이 바짝 든다.
Q. As a veteran, you must feel responsible for a loss
A. Honestly, I have finished last in many points of my career so I know the feeling. But a lot of other players haven't experienced it, so they can become frustrated. Even when I was with ACE, I had a positive mind set to do my best and show good games. The coaching staff are doing their best to lead the players, and the players are in turn, are practicing hard but the results haven't materialized so it was depressing. With the thought that things can change at any time, we believed we could win. Also, Jaedong's fans must have felt yesterday's loss, as they always cheered for our team loudly. Even in ACE, the members' popularity was good so we appreciated all the cheering. At 르까프 (T/n: don't know what that means) facility, 7-8 people in front often cheered. After coming back from the Army, many things have changed. I don't want to lose when so many fans are here cheering.
