Winner: KHAN

(P)JangBi: "It was rock bottom."

Jangbi finally put an end to his 7-game losing streak. He finally earned the 1st win of the SPL 10-11 season that all of the teammates, coaching staff, and fans desperately wanted. Still, it's fair to say that nobody wanted that win more than the player himself. Jangbi was able to put on a faint smile as he emerged victorious from his booth and left his troubles behind. He added that he "would be able to ride on a winning streak" if he won his next match and gained some momentum.

Q & A:

Q: You finished R1 with a dismal 0-7, but now you opened R2 with a win!
A: I seem to be that kind of a person - on the momentum. When I win, I go on a winning streak, and when I lose, I fall into a losing one. Considering that, today's 1 win just couldn't be more valuable. It will become the source of my winning momentum! I'm so happy right now.

Q: It must have been hard during the 7-game losing streak.
A: Indeed, it was hard. When I lost 2 sets in the match vs. MBC in R1, it was just rock bottom. I really felt dead inside... I don't think I've had a tougher time in my entire progaming career. Jaehoon lost 2 games in today's match, I really feel for him.

Q: You must have tried to find the core reason behind your losing streak.
A: I couldn't quite grasp what was wrong, which made it even more frustrating. Coaching staff tried to help me too, but I still can't find what was wrong - even now. I do remember watching the replay of myself throwing a huge lead away [T/N: perhaps referring to the PvP on Central Plains?] and falling in despair, alone. Today's win sure is relieving.

Q: Did the defeat from OSL preliminaries affect your gameplay?
A: It was more of the match vs. MBC in R1 than the OSL preliminaries. However, since I got my win against MBC today, it could turn out to be a good sign. I've always failed in OSL so that didn't affect me that much (laughs).

Q: Your goals for this season?
A: I'm kind of embarrassed to be asked about my season's goal when R1 is already over. Rather than declaring a goal right now, I'll save it for when I'm on a good winning momentum.

Q: What did you do during the short break after R1?
A: At the end of R1, I forgot what it felt like to win. There weren't anybody available for practice in the break, so I was actually able to relax and take my mind away from gaming for a while. I think that helped.

Q: You played rather conservative, even after gaining a sizable lead.
A: Actually, I enjoyed today's game because I gained a lead pretty early. Perhaps many people think I'm playing conservative just because of my losing streak (laughs). If I was on a winning streak and played the same way, people wouldn't label it as "conservative" (laughs).

Q: TurN and Brave played very well in R1.
A: I was really proud of the youngsters. All I could do was help them practice. There weren't any competitive jealousy or stuff like that. It's all good when we're collectively doing well.

Q: Last words?
A: Brave wanted me to credit him for the build I used today. Thanks Brave, but you don't have to remind me (to credit him) like a hundred times! (laughs) Oh and also, I'm personally close with Jaehoon. He actually bought me food after that R1 game that I mentioned repeatedly. Well, this time, he ended up in my old spot, losing 2 games in 1 day... I will buy him food and comfort him the best I can.

-----

(P)Grape: "Nobody interviewed me, I'm so sad."

Picture is from Khan > Ace in R1

As of 5AM EST Nov.27, there's no Grape interview in DES or Fomos. I suppose the media crew were so dazzled by Stork's ace match win and JangBi's epic slump-breaking-win.

-----

(P)STORK: "Cheer up, Jaehoon!"

Stork achieved his first 2-wins-in-a-day this SPL 10-11 season. He never played on the Fortress map this season, which made it hard for anybody to predict his entry in the ace match. Nonetheless, Stork, being the team's ace [T/N: LIKE A BOSS], won his first game on Fortress and lifted his team to 4th place in the league.

Q & A:

Q: This is your first "2-wins-in-a-day" this season. Initial thoughts?
A: It wasn't all glory and shine because I took the wins off two of the players I'm close friends with. I won in the recent survival tournament and won again today so I'm sorry. I should really be ecstatic about winning 2 games today but I'm not really happy about it. Also, I don't think my games were very fluent.

Q: Why were your games not so fluent?
A: Well, there was the rematch. Winning against two close friends don't give you that clean feeling either.

Q: What do you think about the maps this season?
A: Overall, they're not that bad. Specifically, the maps that are good for PvT are difficult for PvZ. For PvZ in general, unless it's a map like Central Plains, it's tough to find advantages in the map features. In conclusion, it's neither good nor bad.

Q: Finally the traditional one-two-punch of Khan are stepping up.
A: I felt sorry to the rookies who were trying their best to keep the team in a respectable rank. I'm just disappointed that I couldn't win when the team needed me to. It wasn't so much that I lost my pace, it was more of my opponents playing exceptionally well.

Q: R2 has just started. Goals?
A: Winner's league has been my weakness, so if I prepare better for the next two rounds, I'm sure I can achieve more personal wins than last season. My focus will be on earning wins for the team though.

Q: Not many predicted that you would play in the ace match because the map was Fortress.
A: The recent trends in build orders made it viable for protoss to play in this map. I actually expected to play a Terran opponent but instead got a Protoss opponent, which surprised me in the beginning. Perhaps the opponent was hoping to play a Terran too?

Q: You said before that you've been losing confidence in your PvP.
A: I used to like PvP, but my PvP win rate has been declining ever since last year - and my confidence too. It hasn't fully recovered yet, but in order to do so [T/N: original article cuts off abruptly here then goes to the next question]

Q: JangBi seems to be very very happy about his win.
A: He totally bombed one round, but there's still five rounds left. I hope he continues to step it up. If both JangBi and I are able to win consistently, our team will surely continue to rise in the rankings and this thought makes me very happy too!

Q: Last words?
A: Thanks to all my practice partners. Jaehoon lost 2 games today, and it makes me think of the time when I lost 2 games in a day. I understand that it might be really difficult right now, but I hope he cheers up soon.

Looks to be a repeat of last season's proleague. Jangbi failing in first round and recovering in second round.

Thanks for the quick translations!

Thanks for the interviews! So much man-love for Jaehoon, seems like Jaehoon must be a chill dude, I guess all the MBC guys are cool like that.

And welcome back Jangbi!

THanks for translating!

So happy for Jangbi! I really hope he'll be able to come back in shape. Also, it's interesting to see how popular Jaehoon is. :D

wow.. jangbi... long time no see

to be honest I was extremely extremely sad to see him slump so hard... especially because we all thought he was the next PvT bonjwa (STORMU)

Great to see him back. Hope to see him again soon.
The probability of Kim Carrier getting all those predictions wrong is similar to the probability Flash loses a TvT. Kim Carrier MUST BE a genius. His only big mistake... STORK.

(P)Grape: "Nobody interviewed me, I'm so sad."

rofl.

Stork did very well today. Glad Jangbi finally got to interview, maybe this will be a confidence boost, but I still don't think his A-game is back quite yet, he did play Saint after all, and should have dominated him.
I'm going to sleep, let me get some of that carpet.

Jaehoon seems to be buddies with the Khan tosses. Nice that they are so supportive. But I didn't know Stork was close friends with Hyun.

Now, after regretfully beating up some friends, Stork and JangBi should proceed to mercilessly demolish their enemies. :D

그리고 또 오늘 (김)동현이 형과 경기를 해서 첫승을 해서 연패를 끊었는데 다음부터는 (김)동현이 형도 연승을 이어갔으면 좋겠다.

In the Fomos interview Jangbi tries to cheer Saint up too. So much love for MBC players. <3 Khan might soon become my second favorite team.

Huh. All the MBC guys are cool apparently, they keep getting praise on other teams interviews. I'm sad to see Jaehoon losing twice - I hope he doesn't go back to his previous self.

On the other hand...Jangbi finally gets a win he so desperately needs.

Thanks for the translation!

Khan interviews interesting as usual, I really like how they go out of their way to cheer up their opponents though, always good to see sportsmanship. Still, Jangbi finally winning w00t!

I've noticed over the last year that Jaehoon and Hyun seemed to be generally well-liked by other progamers. I feel bad for Jaehoon You never want to see someone lose twice in the same day (unless they're S-class, in which case, it's more fascinating than sad).
