CJ Entus on this past 18th was educated on how to treat acne and how to use cosmetics.
When recently a few players' skin conditions began to suffer, CJ Entus' Executive Office specially invited the team doctor and requested a seminar on skin care. In the case of certain players, due to frequent makeup and bad skincare treatment, their skin troubles was critical, and in a pinch the players began using masks in the stadiums or play in the matches without makeup, and this was judged to negatively affect their game performance.
The seminar went on for about an hour, and the players asked questions such as "The proper way of erasing makeup from broadcasts and games", "How to treat acne", and "How to use functional cosmetics", and the seminar covered in detail how to manage and treat troublesome skin and acne filled skin.
CU Clinic's Skin division said that "Skin care has to be a weakness for progamers since they are filled with hormones in their teens and their twenties, they live communally, have long practice hours, and have often broadcasts", and promised to continually counsel the players regarding their skin. Especially CU Skin said that "Learning how to properly use functional cosmetics, and knowing how to properly erase makeup is the first step to good skin care."
And on that day, the entire player roster have received products developed from CUSkin such as AV Free Skin Lotion that is effective against acne, AV Free Foan Cleansers, Hydra Replenishing Gel that restores moisture balance, T Zone Piji Use Saebom Control (T/N: no idea), BB cream that has whitening properties, and antibacterial soap that cleanses without irritating the skin.

I always wonder why they mention skin condition so often in interviews, but I had completely forgotten that they have to put all that makeup on for the TV games. I'm not surprised that progamers have acne issues since they probably don't get the information on how to properly deal with makeup. Now CJ will be able to not smile with better skin than ever! (-_-)

noo aeffort noo it's a tarp its going to melt your alien faceeee

Hydra Replenishing Gel that restores moisture balance
I didn't know they personalized cosmetics that much.
What an odd thing to write a news article about, though - did fomos become a tabloid at some point?
|
what? this never really bothered me, but then again i've never met them in person, so idk.
if this interferes with their playoff qualifications i'm going to lmfao.
|
i remember when Movie went with a mouth mask once
thats the only one i remember though

you just have to realize the cultural difference...koreans are really concerned with their skin condition, that's all
one clear example would be the first episode of hyungjoon becomes a progamer, HJ offers shark free skin care. just look at the excitement on his face and how much he criticizes himself loll

lol
all i can really say. u translate some interesting interviews lolol

Good for those little guys. Hard enough to handle puberty and all that shit, let alone be a progamer while it happens living in a house full of boys
ty for the off the wall translations

this is even bigger news than JD not being a cheapskate! :O
movie will finally eliminate his demons and become protoss bonjwa now
|
Its good to know that the proper application of cosmetics is crucial to improving ones ability to play at a high level.

Now that they mention it, I think most of the well-known progamers with noticeable acne comes from cj entus. I can't think of anyone else that has this problem other than skyhigh, movie and effort.

Skin care, it's serious business.

This sounds like a punishment, a horribly deranged, cruel, and certainly unusual punishment.
|
Wow, well I guess good for CJ. Maybe they will play better with better skin...?
|
Free skincare product...
That never happened in my life before
Effort has a different kind of aura after winning OSL. The look of a champion keke.

This should help CJ fix some of the bumps in their play. No longer will CJ players be red faced after another rash of bad performances. They will no longer have to hide their faces, or try to mask their mistakes. Instead, this should a-cyst them as they makeup lost ground, breakout of their slumps, and redeem themselves for their ugly performances in the previous rounds.
CJ fighting! We are lesion!
|
wow this must be so embarrassing.. but kudos for the free cosmetics
|
i bet this is because of how bad movie had it with acne.. and they were like FUCK THAT, OUR PROGAMERS ARE NEVER GOING TO LOOK LIKE THAT AGAIN!
|
|
Well, I'm guessing in Korea people are judged heavily on their personal appearance, so the fact that so many play on CJ have acne must reflect poorly on their team, and by association, the company, especially since they show their faces in public so much.
I would guess the company wants to make the statement that they take good care of their players, clean up their personal image, and advertise for a company that they probably own or at least are affiliated to (because CJ owns or is affiliated with every company in Korea.)
so, based on that logic, it makes sense to me.

It's about time, right Iris?

This is hilarious looking forward to movie's acne free new style

I thought this was a joke at first lol

Well, consider they practice until like 2-3 AM... 7 days a week..... 10+ hours days.....
I would say they are stressed in general and stress leads to break outs.
Who woulda thought.
Perhaps they should consider cutting back practice hours.
|
I guess it wouldn't hurt...at least it's free.
Who knows, boosted self esteem can do wonders.
|
Idra is gonna be sexxyyyyyy
|
Well I did notice that Movie's face has cleared up quite a bit since last year :p
|
cosmetics affect gameplay performance wut?
|
didnt expected to hear that lol
|
Thank you for the news!
This certainly make the players seem more human and closer to the fans.

Milkis stop going insane and play more Tetris instead :3

Haha, kind of funny, but also really highlights a cultural attitude. Seems like people in Korea are much more concerned about acne than in America. I mean, the fact that progamers choose rather to show up in public with masks than with bad acne alone shows this.
|
stop putting on makeup and you'd get less acne...
|
I so need those products right about now.
on topic: how does makeup affect game performance?

When you're sweating, mascara melts and gets into your eyes!

Movie won't be called Acne-Toss anymore : ( now what the heck are we supposed to call him?
|
The girl will have a hard job with MOVIE xDDD
|
Just put in an hour of exercise in every other day -___-
|
....what.
Movie's skin condition mostly isn't acne afaik. I showed a doctor friend of mine and she thought it was a pigmentation thing, made worse by mild acne. What's up with Skyhigh's skin?
|
For those wondering about performance, going on TV with both live fans and a sizable TV audience can make the players very self-conscious, obviously made worse by acne. This can make them nervous which in turn affects gameplay.

I'm pretty sure it would be better if they spent more time exercising and ea0ting healthy and less time practicing up to 12 hours straight then their skin would look better. Who knows maybe the healthier body would lead to a better gamer.

Don't they give out animal feeds or something? I saw a truck of CJ here one time on a ride back home.

Well, interesting article I guess. Acne is a bitch and I can certainly imagine their life style and the make up for broadcasted matches having a negative impact. I once used Clearacil, or however the hell it's spelled, and that just made it worse. ^^
|
anyone have pic of movie's bad acne? it can't be that bad
|
lol hahahahaha~ maybe it has something to do with their daily schedules to think I had horrible acne conditions just few months ago
|
lol skincare? looking forward to seeing idra with perfect skin xD

I don't mean to start a medical conversation or anything... But acne isn't caused by the oil produced by your skin.
Pimples pop out because of hormones and stress, obviously, considering the people receiving the treatment are computer players bound to become incredibly frustrated throughout games, they'll become really stressed (duh?), thus blood rushing to their face. I think a way to say it in an understandable way is, 'when blood rushes to your face, pimples will pop out because your face is about to pop!' Heh, I think my doctor told me that once when I was little....
Sure, players would possibly become self-conscious but I didn't know sAviOr and other CJ players had heavy acne until NeverGG took shots of them in the Winner's League finals last year. Either the makeup works or NeverGG's camera is just THAT awesome. I'm pretty sure the first thing girls notice when they see progamers in the booth playing isn't '아... 여들음 마니잇다.....' (They have a lot of pimples).

It makes sense given they're promoted as stars and their following is as important as their success.

Guess they couldn't keep this on the dl, had to make it a photo-op.
