How do you feel after winning in the 2nd tiebreak?
I am very happy. I wanted to advance so badly, but I got thoughts of being eliminated after losing the first game. I'm glad that I got through.
How were your games?
I wanted to advance with 2 wins. I was very confident in my gameplan against Fantasy, so I told myself to win the first game. I made the wrong call.
How did you feel when you knew there was going to be a 2nd round of tiebreak? I was ecstatic. My hands and feet were tingly when Fantasy lost. I was thrilled to have another opportunity, and I'm glad I made the most of it.
You must have regrets in your first game against Calm. I didn't expect him to come out with a strategic play. That's a strategy used maybe once a year, but I was shocked that I got beaten by it. I wasn't able to stay calm and lost.
You were seen as the most likely to be eliminated. People said I was the weakest but I just prepared my game, and thought nothing about their name value. That's why I prepared the best I could.
The team must've made room for your practice. Of course. That's why I prepared as hard as I could, but I do regret that the tiebreaker went into the 2nd round. The reason I won is because the team excused me from Proleague.
Any words going into the Ro8? There's going to be a regional tour (Ulsan) for the Ro8. It's my first time on a tour. That's why I think I'll be a little nervous, but I hope I can play as well as I practice. Win or lose, I want to show good games.
Who do you want to face in the Ro8? Everybody in the Ro8 are top-class. I want to face a Terran. I avoided Flash in the Ro16, but I want to face him in the Ro8, since we're going to be on a big stage.
Any last words? I had so many but I lost them because I'm so ecstatic right now. I want to thank my teammates who sacrificed their vacations to practice with me. I also want to thank Flash for his one practice game. I'll be playing on the big stage this round, so I'll prepare very hard to show good games and results. Please cheer me on to the end.
After 4 epic rounds of tiebreak, Effort makes it out of his group at the stroke of Midnight.
How do you feel after FINALLY advancing to the Ro8? My mind was going crazy because there were so many tiebreaks. The other players played well, so I think I got lucky. Advancing like this makes it even sweeter.
How did you feel at the 4th tiebreak? I always went 2nd, so there was more pressure on me. Thinking about being eliminated if I lose made it even harder.
What was the hardest point in today's games? Playing this many games made me tired. By the 2nd half my focus started dropping considerably, so it was very difficult managing games.
Which game was the most difficult? The first game was the most difficult. I prepared a very sharp (T/N: timing I think) build, but because the build was such a gamble there was enormous pressure. I played a little easier after that first game.
Your Ro8 opponent is Zero. I played against him many times. I hope we can play good games. My confidence in ZvZ returned after beating Zero.
Any last words? I want to thank my teammates for helping me practice and I want to thank the [epic] fans who stayed till the end to cheer me on. + Show Spoiler +

Because they all certainly deserved it after that marathon
edit: aww they didn't :/

haha nice Effort glad that you advanced :D
although kind of surprised that there was no mention of that mouse incident...

I will have to wait for vods but it seems like Effort was completely screwed when he typed ppp judging from LR.
This whole situation makes me feel bitter again about MSL finals.
First these two cases are incomparable. And second how many times has it been proved that JD was way ahead and clearly deserved his win? The only thing to be bitter is that Flash fans will always have the excuse that Jaedong got a free win.
On April 19 2010 01:52 Almtom wrote: How can you first after 20min realize that your mouse is fucked up???? And how can the refs give him a regame when he is this retarded?
Effort didnt have the problem in his other games? Which would actually prove that it was the computer's problem, not his mouse.
On April 19 2010 01:47 nik_0_0 wrote: Can someone explain what happened with this mouse incident?? Is it in the videos? Or was it cut out?
Sounds interesting =P
so basically, in this crucial muta scourge battle, Effort lost a ton of mutalisks to scourge and whatnot. Effort then types pp and pauses as he claims that something is wrong with his mouse. After reviewing replay and determining that there was something wrong with the mouse (not his control/assuming progamer level here b/c it is the Starleague), they try to find out whether it was a hardware malfunction, or a computer error. And because they were not able to find out which, they decided to call a rematch. Which resulted in this ridiculously long tiebreaker.
I honestly think that it was Effort's mouse that just broke down, so he should be held responsible, and Shine should have won.
But w/e its the judges rulings and it gave us the epic tiebreaker series
Gratz to Effort for the win though, those games must have been tough for everyone
edit:
Effort didnt have the problem in his other games? Which would actually prove that it was the computer's problem, not his mouse.
If anything that should support the fact that his mouse broke during that game. It is more unlikely that the computer had problem when it was working fine I think.
On retrospection, it's kind of debatable, whether or not it was really Effort's fault. I mean sure it is his mouse, but if you mouse randomly breaks midgame... its not really your fault. I'm not sure on the exact rules, but its kind of a hard decision to make. I mean it is kind of unfair to the opponent to regame because mouse broke :/ but at the same time...
Waking up at 8 am and seeing Group D still going made me laugh so hard... I hope more crazy stuff like this happens (But not too often.) Nice "Effort" : )

People have said what they think when watching the VODs, not the games. They knew nothing about the actual resources or what was popping out of eggs/structures at the moment. Flash said he think he was in a decent spot and was really angry about the decision.
Nothing is really proven. so don't state is as some fact.
I hope Effort gets raped in ro8. That guy pulled some bullshit. He played like 2 whole games then suddenly he complained the moment he was about to lose.
I cannot believe it was the computer's fault. How many games were played on that computer prior to Effort's game that worked just fine? I mean, what could possibly go wrong in a computer to justify Effort's own mouse breaking down?
I bet that fucking crushed Shine's spirit and his play got sloppy. Effort sucks vs. zerg, sucks vs. terran. and is only decent vs. P. Did you see how close the game was even though Effort went 9 pool speed vs. 12 hatch? Fuck, I hope he gets raped by Zero and fails in SPL.

any time a ref from any game makes a call, someone's going to be unhappy. it just so happens that calls in starcraft carry much more weight (than, say, a 15 yard penalty). this leads to people being much more unhappy.
Yeah, thats right. The mouse broke, just when he got destroyed. But it was not the fault of the mouse. It was the fault of the PC: How convenient. What a cheater... Regaming this is the worst decsion ever.

oh wells dudes, get over it.
This reminds me of the Tuck rule. What a horrible thing that was. Anyways Gratz Pure and Effort!!!
and what if effort was lossing his game vs shine cause his mouse was failing him (maybe you saw the game ? his micro was really really bad, and at his speed its kind of impossible to do that many mistakes unless he switched himself with a D/C player), and called pause when he saw clearly whats the case ? we cant say shit without FPVOD . No need for everyone to hate effort

I've lost a game miserably because my computer stopped taking my mouse's input while I was breaking a ramp. Then it was fine a minute later. Shit happens.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he's coming back. It took him three tiebreakers to advance, and some of those games were pretty awful. I can't believe Pure was forced to sit though all of that. =/

If it was his mouse, then it's his fault. Imagine if in some racing competition someone asked for a re-race becase his car broke lol. In each sport, each sportsman is fully resposible for his own equipment.
That being said, if it was a problem with computer (something effort couldn't influence) then it would be kind of unfair to punish him.
Anyway, in Shine place, I would be pissed as hell.
Let's not forget...this is not the first incident Effort had with a mouse. Remember PL playoffs, in his game vs. Yarnc?? (although granted, it was at the start of the match)

Yeah, that's right. They inspected the mouse and found there was no evidence whatsoever of it being messed up and decided to give him a regame anyway.

Well, that said, in racing car competitions, the driver is not the one who is fixing the car and keeping it working well. And with a computer mouse, I assume it's much harder to figure out whether or not it's not working perfectly, or when it's going to break.
Of course, I'm probably not too annoyed because I love EffOrt, but here's to hoping he can prove everyone wrong by demolishing ZerO.

Hmm i dont know what other translators use for 날카로운 but instead of sharp i think abusive would work better. A build that can really take advantage of what another player is doing. '
It's just a good thing this thing doesn't happen in professional sports. Imagine them re-running the 100m at the Olympics because someone's shoe was untied, or replaying the 18th hole at the masters because Tiger Woods complained about a bad club.
Pretty ridiculous decision in my opinion, equipment failure happens, and it sucks, but you can't just hand out rematches - especially when it's solely on the players word.
