yeah like what for example?? by the way you gotta differenciate between cultural norms like wearing clothes and governmental enforcement.. if your deny military service they'll put you in jail..

saying that this is just normal in societies is ridiculous since there are many societies where you don't have to do military service.. you're aware that this could result in your death right? in the military you have to knuckle down and follow orders comming from people which are total strangers to you.. if they tell you to move forward you gotta do it even if you know this will be your death.. in fact if you're in the military you have to take of an oath that you'll follow every order and put your life on the line.. such a thing is not compareable to anything man.. putting it like that just shows that you don't have any experience regarding military issues and apparently even never have thought about it profoundly..

Every country has different needs for military forces, you see the world in black & white. South Korea has a mandatory military service because they fucking need it.

And shit in what fairy tale world do you live ? In every society you will have to knuckle down and follow orders from a "strange".

just because someone who appears to be the leader of the current government thinks s.k needs a mandatory military service doesn't give him the right (from an ethical point of view) to use coercive power in order to force free individuals to do this military service, imagine they have another opinion about this.. this is nothing but authority deciding about lifes of free individuals like kings in medieval times..

and man i'm seriously concerned in which society you live.. you are forced to follow orders which can intend to put your life on the line? i seriously doubt that.. just take some time and reflect on this issue, you'll lern that it's very different from everything else and not at all comparable to cultural norms

If a country is deemed by its leadership to need a military force that cannot be met with volunteers/enlistment, conscription is the logical choice. There are many countries in the world that operate that way because they need to. You say that its not right, and maybe it isn't (the individual obviously feels that its not fair for him to have to serve) but depending on the country, it may be necessary in order secure its borders or maintain order.

Anyway, this is pretty OT, so best let it go.
I'm going to sleep, let me get some of that carpet.

I dont know about SK, but in Brazil military service is mandatory and if you choose to flee from your militar duty in a ilegal way you can go arrested and you will lose almost all your civil rights.

It seems to be part of our constituition, so if I were you I would not go blaming the SK government people :/

How about every modern society ? You have laws in your country don't you ? Hows that is not " follow orders which can intend to put your life on the line" ? You don't pay your taxes, grow some weed, do some weird stuff e BAM you are arrested.

Nothing else was relevant. This sums up your argument.

To contradict this, without the military conscription of SK NK would have overrun them long ago. Then what? You might say, of but the UN would step in and clean things up, but think about the countless lives that would be lost in the process freeing them. Also, what if the UN didn't decide to step in? (See China/Taiwan)

Are you saying the government doesn't have the right to consider enlistment as payment for protection? If you say yes, then I feel you're being a tad naive and you need to go out into the world a bit. As an earlier poster said, it's easy to see things in black and white (especially when you're a philosophy major, which im making an uneducated stab at).

kinda sad that nalra got knocked out in the first round but it was expected.
Yea that looks just like Kang Min... amazing game sense... and uses mind games well, but has the micro of a washed up progamer.

hm .. but imo the potential threat of nk attacking sk doesn't legitimate to force an individual into armed combat.. what if the individual isn't of the opinion that there is this threat.. and what if he knows that there is this threat but still feels not able to shoot other people.. from an ethical point of view there's nothing in the world which legitimates one person or one government to rule above the lives of free individuals like they were nothing but numbers and even force them to kill other human beeings..

so practically sk should have to consider every other possible method f.e. a voluntary military like the u.s. and if there are not enough volunteers they have to pay other militaries in order to support them.. and if there are no other miliatries which want to support and not enough volunteers then you have to face the fact that you cant defend against a majority of other people who are ready to invade your country heavily armed..

imo the real problem is that nk is a dictatorship and forces its citizens to armed combat too.. so both governments actions are unethical .. if both would act ethical there would be no threat of an invasion.. but ethically, in this special point sk is not better than nk cause they use the same methods.. even if its just in order to defend

I only finally saw all of these, had seen the thread before but I'm glad I managed to watch the whole series over the last few days as I don't know how I could've waited for the episodes to come out one by one

Really great job with the subtitles, much appreciated

I liked pretty much everything about it, even Go.go (the idiot) was quite entertaining

Just watched the whole series and damn Im happy I've done it, this was so awesome. Nal_ra sure is a great guy. I've learned quite a lot about the korean progamers and their life, and the show was entertaining and fun. I'm sad for him at the end, although the military is a thing everyone do (I'll have to do it soon too, 1 year only though, which is already bs because my country is supposed to be neutral...). What I'm the most sad about is that at the end of his military, BW will not be the same and maybe he will have problems finding something to do (maybe sc2? who knows)?

Anyway thanks for the subs. Good luck Nal_ra.

Huge thanks to the translators! I loved watching this series. So many moments that just make you smile. And you can't help but like Nal_Ra after watching these episodes.

Does anyone know the name of the theme song (the chill, mellow song that has the looping guitar hook in all the episodes)?

Was a fairly somber finale. Not what I expected. Its such a pity he didn't win at least one game in the qualifiers. Would have liked to see that third set.
