You may have noticed that Bisu didn’t appear on the roster for SKT1 during their recent Winner’s League match versus Woongjin Stars. That’s because Bisu is presently on break.
According to Mr. Jo Man Su of the SKT front office, “Bisu had been exhausted from his busy schedule, and we learned that his physical health was poor as well, so we decided to give him a break… …we discussed the issue with coach Park, and decided we would give Bisu a chance to recharge before he returns to the team.”
Personally, I think this is a great move by SKT1. From what I read in player interviews, it’s easy for a player who is slumping to get jaded because he is putting physical stress on himself by practicing more than usual, while at the same time becoming mentally stressed because he is still not winning games. Hopefully Bisu will use his vacation well, and return to us as the revolutionist we know and love.
I think this has been posted somewhere before... not sure though
But if Bisu gets away from SC now, wouldn't he be in poorer condition than now when he comes back? We all know how far behind a player can get without constant practice.

Well, there was that one time when Bisu went to Thailand shortly before dismantling Savior in the MSL in one of the biggest upsets in Starcraft history.
that would be sensationally perfect! gogo bisu u can do it, get laid and come back to get made! I watch the doctors every day. do koreans know its healthy and a stress killer to have sex regularly, they should hire some women when progamers on slumps. Not for prostitution but for healing the heart(p**is) of a man.
I normally want Bisu to fail as much and hard as possible, but I wouldn't want to see him to burn out and retire or something like that. This will hopefully do him good and enable him to recover and come back from his slump.
Yeah, it might slip some people's minds but Bisu is one of the most hardcore (in terms of practice hours / devotion) progamers out there. I'm betting he was grinding like hell to try to get back into top shape...
hopefully this isnt some sort of indefinite leave aka allen iverson. as much as i am a bisu antifan it's still good to have strong rivals and a bisu-in-his-prime is a great adversary to root against.
Very mature and smart move by SKT1. I hope Bisu gets back on track. Everyone needs a recharge every now and then, and specially in the korean e-sport scene. Preassure and workload is pretty damn sick...
Getting knocked out of the OSL musta been a big blow to him.
It shows that proteams are getting smarter and maturing as a whole by letting them do this. Humans aren't really designed to operate on the slave schedule that is the progaming lifestyle; by doing they are letting Bisu regain his ability to play well.

A combination of destroying Savior, rivalling Flash/Jaedong/Stork/whoever while at the same time performing extremely inconsistently against lesser players, and occasionally sounding somewhat arrogant in player interviews.

They could have announced that earlier so i wouldn't get him in my WL roster -.- Joking of course, hope he comes back healthy and ready to play some good SC once again.
My guess is that there is a Jimjilbang (bathhouse) and(or) a sexually transmitted disease involved in this story. . .

It has nothing to do with my "standards," it has to do with equaling Savior's record. Good try, though. And yes, I am a bitter fanboy.
Not to say that Stork isn't any good but he never seems to show his "dominance" like Bisu did. Its like Stork can play extremely well in a number of games, but when he's up against the next opponent, I can tell that he's the favorite but I can't say the same "lol ezpz" like when Bisu was at 80% in Proleague. It's just this aura of dominance that Stork lacks, maybe it's just me though.
I want Bisu to be back for this very reason =). PROTOSS NEEDS YOU~

Nah I agree. I like Stork too but he definitely never feels invincible. Bisu has that powerful aura of being a favourite or equal to anyone.

Welcome to the real world.
Always sad to see a progamer in trouble! Let's hope all he really needs is just to recharge his batteries.
It makes me wonder if progamers play this game way too much to the point where it becomes more of a tedious task rather than enjoying the game. I don't know if putting in so much practice would be so appealing if you could no longer enjoy the game. I remember BoxeR telling Hyung Joon that he was lucky to still be enjoying the game.

I think it has to do with his complaining about maps being imbalanced. =| I love Toss, and I think Bisu is a great player, but I wish he wouldn't complain about them. Flash and Jaedong usually just shrug "map imbalances."
I think the best player at their respective race, at the time, should be able to comment on balances. I've seen plenty of interviews where Jaedong is gong on and on about how hard it is to zvt on such and such map and that it would be hard for him to win. He is simply more "subtle" about bitching about map imbalances.

Knocking out my favourite player (whom is probably the only player I would consider going gay for) doesn't mean that he shouldn't deserve any respect. He achieved something that was unthinkable. (something positive, not like Casy's vP multi-year losing streak) He deserves to be respected just for that. Even as a fanboy, attacking the professionalism of a player is just plain wrong.

It's not fair but this site never intended to be fair; all posts and posters are not created equal. if you don't like that you can always visit another site.
For example, in one of my earlier posts I took the liberty to call someone a cunt. In the warning I received soon after, the moderator did not question the validity of that particular word in regards to the situation but did note that the poster I had harangued was a valued member of this site for many years. He asked that I respect the status of the poster and to refrain from ever using that word again. Thus, despite the validity of my anger, the poster's status as a contributor to this site helped gain him backing from the moderator even if it was not wholly deserved. Kinda unfair, but I got over it. You should do the same.

Bisu and Boxer we're the reasons I was attracted to the korean scene and even broodwar, it's a good decision and I hope he recovers his good mental health and comes back to show us his awesome play. GL!
To be honest, I am worried about Bisu. Unlike Stork, whose strength lies in builds and strategical thinking, Bisu's strength lies in his insane mechanics and multitasking abilities. His harassment is unequaled by any current Protoss, in my opinion.
However, I think a lot of people have Bisu "figured out," just as people had Savior figured out around mid to late 2007. Bisu's mechanics are very strong, but they're not nearly as head over heels above everyone else as Jaedong's.
Like Flash, I think Bisu needs to reinvent himself. Flash's strength was in his incredible sense of timing and macro, and for a long time he slumped partially because of his work schedule but also I feel because everyone predicted that Flash would play greedy. So Flash had to reinvent his timings and builds and that's what's allowed him to play so dominantly today. I think if Bisu finds a way to revitalize his - dare I say - "stagnant" play, he'll be a force to be reckoned with.
The question is if he can reinvent himself while still playing to his strengths. Good luck Bisu!

Putting those two words in the same sentence no doubt makes all Bisu fans cringe.
Hopefully Bisu comes back in form so the protoss race stops being so meh.
This is a good thing. Didn't he take a vacation to Thailand shortly before whomping Savior in the MSL? Maybe he'll come back strong like he did then. Health is the most important thing.
Watching Bisu lose to go.go really broke my heart. Even the commentators focused on Bisu in his booth for a full minute after he gg'd. Bisu was looking very beaten, unplugged his mouse and keyboard and walked off. First after Bisu went behind the curtain did they talk to go.go. It must have hurt a lot that he didn't qualify and his spirits are low because of it. . ..
His team still needs him though. And I hope he still thinks its fun to be around the SKT guys and comes back
As a reminder, this is what happened the last time Bisu went on vacation:
On a serious note, Bisu really does need time to relax and rethink his mentality. While I do not expect another "revolution", this vacation should help him immensely in his MSL performance.

I'm not a psych major or anything, but you don't see Professionals in other sports practicing 10+ hours a day 6-7 days a week. Taking a break, is very beneficial. Perhaps I am biased in that I believe the Western system is superior to the Eastern, but anecdotally, you can see the results for yourself. And, please, don't say playing SC takes more skill than playing professional sports ;/
I could very well be wrong, only time will tell I suppose.

Wishing for someone to go on effectively a career-ending leave is far beyond "normal fanboy stuff".
Most anti-fans just want the player to lose games, not be forced into retirement. Losing a player of that caliber hurts the scene as a whole.
It's not like Jaedong anti-fans wanted him to be forced to retire during the whole FA scandal.

The point of this vacation is for Bisu to get back in shape. He is obviously not getting into shape while staying in Korea. So there is nothing wrong with people expecting him to get back into shape.
well finally they do a good thing. They practice 14 hours a day, every day for 365 days in the year, everyone could get burned.
I know from personal experience when I've worked 12 to 16 hours and you just don't have time for anything, you don't even have time to rest and not to mention doing something else and relaxing.
But yeah, we don't live in a perfect world and even 8 hours, 6 days a week is a lot. You essentially get only 7 hours for everything else and the other hours you sleep so you can wake up and go to work again.

You 3-0'd Savior but you never won an OSL Taek Yong -- and you never will!
I'm feeling extra smug right now. This should've happened last week, the karma would've been amazing.
you're feeling smug about one of the best players of all time being in a slump and not achieving 'enough' by your standards, and you think he deserves to have his career ended because he won a match 3 years? go fuck yourself
Erm why is Idra allowed to talk to people like that on this forum? Especialy when the guy was just expressing (in a totally non violent way, just normal fanboy stuff) his own oppinion
Cause he's Idra.
No really, that's the reason!
Yeah but its not fair.

May this vacation rekindle his love for the game and spark an intense hunger to win. KTY good luck! Look forward to when he comes back. I think this was a good decision regardless.

Searching on youtube for progaming VODS is usually pretty easy and straightforward. The ones you are looking for are in the spoiler below (I watch them every so often when I lose PvZ lol)
I hope he recovers, he's my fave player and when he shows up 2 play he gives the audience and the opponent one hell of a game, but he's in a dark place right now so good luck to him. and get well soon bisu

But if Bisu gets away from SC now, wouldn't he be in poorer condition than now when he comes back? We all know how far behind a player can get without constant practice.
Cmon who misses Bisu anyway. We got Stork and Kal that perform preety good from the old Dragons and there are quite a few new faces like Stats, Shuttle, Movie, Violet to fill the gaps.
I hope he comes back but his last year has been preety disapointing.

You're saying it like Bisu is taking a year off. Dude it's just a week of vacation or something. And speaking of practice, do you really think freaking Bisu will get worse if he doesn't practice for a week? I mean, this is Bisu we are talking about, not a C+ Iccup player. Bisu, and progamers in general for that matter, has been practicing 10 hours a day for years, so 70 hours less definitely won't do them any harm at all. Especially if you look at Bisu's mechanic, which is what the player gains the most from practicing, it's already top notch. Bisu doesn't need any more 10+ per day grinding, what he needs are a new mindset, motivation, new builds possibly and his confidence.

People miss Bisu because he's the only P with the potential to be perfect. People don't care if Stork or Kal or Movie play better than Bisu right now, they just remember that Bisu was the only P that looked invincible in all matchups in his prime. There was nobody else like that. It's the same with the other races -- fans are always drawn to the player with the most potential regardless of their current skill. No matter what these other Ps do, they will never have the same fan appeal and certain "indefinable" quality that Bisu possesses.
Plus, he completely crushed Savior and PvZ look easy for a while. =D
But yeah, I find that many people are also fans of success and greatness. Bisu's no doubt the most decorated Protoss player of all time. People just miss his old dominance and wish the old Bisu would come back and dominate everyone.

Maybe he wouldn't, but a progamer would. An averge person works 40 hours per week. A pro gamer who just meets minimal practice requirements does 70 hours a week. A person like Bisu will proboably pull at least 80 hours. So 1 week is like 80 hours of work missing.

He is indeed one of the most impressive people to watch on FPVOD. You should try it! (I'm guessing you already have ^-^)

YES! We should get a Bisu fighting card! That would be awesome!

It's just a shame that he has been losing lately.
yeah Bisu is best unless Stork wins another gold or two
Titles don't matter much here actually. It's the invincible aura and the ridiculously high winning rate in all match-ups that count. I really hope Stork can step up to that though, he's one of my favorite players as well. And his interviews are just so fun to read.

Over practice can be even more detrimental. People occasionally need a little time to relax, let things simmer in their subconscious, and recharge. They come back in better condition to work again.

That "indefinable" quality is the hair. Seriously. I'd stay up till 4 in the morning for a chance to see it.
A bit off topic but I saw photos of T1 Special Force team going to Phuket for vacation. They should take Bisu! Go to Thailand again and the real Revolutionalist will be back.
i agree that he needs holiday i mean, come on, pro gamers spend like half of their day sitting in front of computer playing SC they push their brain to its limit i think those pro gamers can go crazy if they don't relax their mind a bit. even a machine needs a rest
I think he was on the bench in T1's last WL game, but didn't play. I wonder if it still counted as being on leave?
